398 Chapter 6 - Assigned partner

Skyy cautiously kept an eye on the man while he played with the pet rat. ”You bring your pet along with you?’

”it’s a test subject I suggest you don’t touch it much. Its nails are poisonous.” Was the cold reply he got.

Scoffing, Skyy touched the soft rat’s paws once again. ”Who cares? If I get poisoned and die right this second it would be for the better.” Better yet it would be nice if he could spread the said poison to the man standing next to him.

He glared at him intently.

”As I said I promise not to touch you. stop glaring at me,”

”How can I believe a man of your power? ability users have always been mean.” He gritted his teeth remembering Kyle’s bruises.

The man’s cold eyes fell on him narrowing sharply. ”I was said this is your first time. were you assigned before?”

Skyy stepped back immediately, hugging his body. ”I was assigned too many times. I’m not pure. My body is all used up and infertile yet they don’t give up the effort,” he lied through his teeth.

He had read that some men find experienced women to be disgusting. So, he threw that lie at him in hopes that he would not do anything untoward.

The man nodded with a look of pity. ”I see… I’m sorry,”

Skyy paused. This man actually sounded like he meant it. ’Why?’

The man wordlessly continued to do his experiments.

”Is earth really beautiful?” he causally whispered as he touched the rat’s palm.

”Hmm very beautiful and green. There is vegetation everywhere. Fruit trees cover the ground. There is no lack of food.” The man said with a soft smile.

”Yet they feed us gruel. Tsk the disparity is real,” Skyy laid on the ground hugging the cage close.

”Sleep on the bed. The floor is cold.”

Skyy vigilantly gazed up at him. ”No. what if you get some urges in the middle of the night and attack me.”

”I swear on my honor I will not attack you. just sleep on the bed. I won’t be sleeping anyway.” The ma said busily noting things down.

He curiously peered at him. ”Why are you different from the others? Were you also forced to be here?”

”Yes.” the man said sighing. ”I don’t want to be here,”

”Why? you have a lover?”

The man peered at him with a louder sigh. ”So many questions.”

”I’m so curious. You’re unlike any ability user I’ve heard of. So, I need to know what makes you different,” Skyy moved closer. ”what’s your name by the way?”

”Kaden,”

”Kaden. Tell me why don’t you want to do this? do you think I’m ugly?” he had opportunities to look at his reflection. He knew he looked different. But he liked his own facial features.

”Why does that matter?” Kaden looked impatient.

Skyy did not wish to push him any further. He pulled the cage close and played with the rat. To his surprise, it seemed like the rat could understand his words. ’Maybe it’s a specially trained pet.’

He rolled over pulling the cage closer. ”Hey, it would be nice if you could relay understand me. I want to leave this place… find my friend and escape together.” He pouted. ”But the security in this place is hard to crack.”

Suddenly he looked back at Kaden. ”How did you get here? were you also escorted by a guard,”

”We have access.” He said coldly looking down at his experiment.

’Hmm, his pupils can work. Maybe escape doesn’t seem that far.’

Kaden looked quite thin even so taking him down would not be easy. Ability users are all very unique in their own way. he did not know what ability Kaden had. Without knowing this attacking rashly will only end up in his demise.

’I have to wait till tomorrow.’

The day went by slower than before. But as promised the man did not even glance his way and continued to do his work.

Occasionally Skyy would ask him some questions for which the man patiently answered.

He was not obliged to yet the man answered. Kaden was too kind.

’Why wasn’t Kyle assigned a man like this? he was assigned to a brute…’

this also made him curious about Kaden

”Kaden, why are you so kind? Were you this kind to the others you were assigned to?”

The man adjusted his glasses. ”Because my mother is a PW.”

Skyy sat up straight. ”Wait you were one of the first-generation children. Were you really raised in training camps?”

”I was fortunate enough to grow up with my parents.”

”Parents? Plural. You have your PW father with you?”

Kaden removed his glasses and sat on the ground close to him. ”my father is a powerful man. He fell in love with my mother the first day they met. He used his powers and his authority to free him from the organization’s clutches. That’s why I said I was fortunate. Not many were lucky enough to escape this prison.” He intently gazed at him. ”I can take you out if you want that,”

Skyy froze up. this was what he wanted. But if he left what would happen to Kyle? He can’t leave him alone. ”I have a friend can you bring him along too?”

”I can only take one PW as my assigned partner.”

”Then…can you choose my friend?”

Kaden looked at him peculiarly. ”Why? don’t you want to leave?”

”I do, but I want to protect him. he is the only person I care about and I want him to live a happy healthy life.” his heart was pounding loudly. ”Can you make him happy?”

The young man looked at the ground and let out a sigh. ”I can’t assure him grand love. but I can give him freedom.” He once again looked at his face with pity. ”This institution is hard to break.”

Skyy fell silent. ”Thank you… thank you for being so kind. I know Kyle will be happy with you.” he finally smiled genuinely.
