The Apocalypse of the Book: So What If I'm Just a Cannon Fodder? I Can Still Have Fun

92: No human experimentationShi Xu felt that Su Mianmian definitely had an idea, but he didn’t know what she wanted to do.

”You want to use his blood for research?”

Shi Xu was silent for a moment, then asked, puzzled.

This was the most likely thing he could think of that Su Mianmian would be interested in.

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu in surprise; she hadn’t expected him to understand her so well.

She didn’t hide it and nodded, ”I think since his blood can perfectly integrate with the zombie virus, then his blood must be the key to solving the zombie virus.”

Shi Xu said nothing, his hand idly playing with a strand of Su Mianmian’s hair that had fallen beside him, as he pondered her words.

Su Mianmian didn’t disturb him; she was also thinking about issues she hadn’t considered.

”Mianmian, I think what you said makes sense. Since we have this idea, let’s try to pursue it.”

”Regardless of the outcome, we’ll have no regrets.”

Shi Xu reached out and ruffled Su Mianmian’s hair, affirming.

Su Mianmian nodded; she thought the same.

If there was a way to resist the zombie virus, that would truly be a good thing.

Whether for them or for other humans.

”You can have Xu Huan and Xu You research this. They can help you.”

”If you do it alone, it’ll be too tiring.”

Shi Xu looked at Su Mianmian with a pained expression; he didn’t want her to be so exhausted.

Su Mianmian shook her head, ”I plan to let them handle this; I’m not cut out for it.”

She couldn’t manage researching these things; if she were to do it, human society would probably have gone through several generations of change by then.

Su Mianmian always understood herself; she would never play the role of an obstruction.

Shi Xu looked at Su Mianmian with a bit of surprise, and seeing her look of refusal, he couldn’t help but laugh.

”Alright, you can assist them then.”

”They do the research, and you provide some ideas, how about that?”

Shi Xu smiled, teasingly.

Su Mianmian didn’t refuse this; even if Shi Xu hadn’t said it, she would have done so.

”I just hope his blood is really connected to the zombie virus.”

”We must protect him well.”

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu with a serious expression and said.

Shi Xu understood what Su Mianmian meant by this, and he nodded.

Ren Tingfeng could not die, whether considering his talent, his character, or his special blood; he simply could not die.

Ren Tingfeng didn’t know that, besides his own people protecting him, Shi Xu’s people had also been added to his side.

After Su Mianmian told Xu Huan and Xu You about the special properties of Ren Tingfeng’s blood, both of them were shocked.

”I thought it was already special that his blood was difficult to mix with other blood, but I didn’t expect his blood could even make the zombie virus mutate.”

”What kind of chosen person is this?”

Xu Huan looked at the blood in the bottle, his face full of shock.

Su Mianmian nodded, and she looked at them with a serious expression, saying, ”Are you willing to accept this task?”

She thought for a moment and felt she still needed to explain the pros and cons to them, ”Perhaps my guess is wrong, and you’ll end up researching for nothing, but if my guess is correct, then we will have a powerful tool to resist the zombie virus.”

After Su Mianmian finished speaking, she silently waited for their answer.

She deliberately didn’t let Shi Xu come with her, worried that his presence might influence their decision.

Su Mianmian still hoped they would willingly accept this matter.

If coerced, they wouldn’t put their heart into the research.

Su Mianmian didn’t wait too long; Xu Huan was the first to agree.

After he agreed, he nudged Xu You.

Xu You looked at him with doting affection, then nodded, agreeing.

Seeing that he also agreed, Xu Huan immediately jumped up, excitedly exclaiming, ”Oh yeah, we can research this!”

Su Mianmian looked at his childish demeanor and couldn’t help but smile.

”Sister-in-law, please excuse him, Xu Huan is just a bit silly.”

”But his abilities are quite good.”

Xu You reached out and patted Xu Huan, signaling him not to be too embarrassing.

Su Mianmian shook her head, ”It’s fine, his temperament is quite good. I hope you don’t get your brains addled by the research.”

After she finished speaking, she couldn’t help but laugh.

Xu Huan and Xu You understood what she meant and couldn’t help but laugh as well.

Having received this task, the two of them began to think about how to obtain Ren Tingfeng’s blood.

The amount they had taken this time was a bit small.

Su Mianmian knew what they were thinking and told them to be patient.

”He’s due for a blood transfusion in a couple of days; we can collect his blood then.”

”And while we’re at it, we can see if the blood he regenerates still has the same effect as before.”

”If not...”

Su Mianmian propped her chin, thinking, feeling like there wasn’t a good idea.

”Then let a zombie bite him again and see if he can get infected with the zombie virus.”

”Isn’t that a good idea?”

Xu Huan said with an innocent expression.

Su Mianmian: ”...”

Xu Huan really was... a genius.

Su Mianmian didn’t know what to say.

”What are you talking about?”

”Can’t we just use his new blood and a bit of zombie blood to research?”

”Why do you immediately think of having him bitten?”

Xu You reached out and patted Xu Huan’s head, looking helpless.

Su Mianmian felt that Xu You’s idea was feasible, but Xu Huan’s... she thought it was better to forget it.

If they really did that, what would be the difference from other researchers using living human bodies for experiments?

Su Mianmian thought for a moment and decided it would be best to discuss with Shi Xu whether to also tell Ren Tingfeng about this matter.

After all, what they were curious about now was his blood.

Thinking of this, Su Mianmian immediately went to find Shi Xu to tell him about it.

Shi Xu had actually always wanted to tell Ren Tingfeng about this, but Su Mianmian hadn’t said anything, so he didn’t dare to act rashly.

Now, hearing that Su Mianmian had thought of this problem, he immediately expressed his attitude.

”Shi Xu, you thought of this a long time ago, yet you didn’t remind me.”

”I thought you hadn’t thought of it either.”

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu, who agreed without even thinking; what else was there for her not to know?

Shi Xu smiled ingratiatingly at her, saying nothing.

At this moment, anything he said would be wrong; it was better not to say anything.

Su Mianmian didn’t dwell on it with him for too long; she told him to go and inform Ren Tingfeng about this.

”Whatever his thoughts, we will respect him.”

Su Mianmian watched Shi Xu’s retreating back as he walked towards the door, and couldn’t help but speak up to remind him.

Shi Xu’s steps paused for a moment, and he turned his head to nod at her.

After he left, Su Mianmian sat in the living room, anxiously waiting for him to return.

After Shi Xu told Ren Tingfeng about the matter, he looked at him calmly.

Su Mianmian had said that no matter his attitude, they would respect it.

Shi Xu felt that Su Mianmian was right, and he also didn’t want to force Ren Tingfeng.

It was his blood; if he didn’t agree, they couldn’t do anything.

”If my blood really is the key to solving the zombie virus, I am willing to let you research it.”

”But it shouldn’t affect my health, right?”

Ever since Ren Tingfeng heard what Shi Xu said, his mouth had been incredibly dry.

He wanted to selfishly say no, but thinking of his lifelong beliefs, and seeing the people he had always protected turn into this, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

Ren Tingfeng wasn’t really worried about anything; he just worried that Wu Jingwen would be too lonely if he died.

Seeing him like this, Shi Xu immediately understood his concerns.

”You can rest assured about that; we definitely won’t affect your health.”

”We just want to take your blood for research.”

”We don’t do human experiments.”

Shi Xu said with a serious expression.

Human experiments were not the same as what they were doing.
