The Apocalypse of the Book: So What If I'm Just a Cannon Fodder? I Can Still Have Fun

67: Why didn’t you take his supplies?Shi Xu had also been holding back a stifled rage because of Su Jinxuan.

Now that old grudges were reawakened, Shi Xu must have been suppressing his anger the moment he saw that person.

”Shi Xu, can you tell me what happened between you two?”

Su Mianmian wanted Shi Xu to tell her voluntarily so she could naturally help him.

Shi Xu originally didn’t want to tell Su Mianmian about such a dirty matter, but looking at Su Mianmian’s expression, so eager to understand him, the words of refusal he wanted to say just wouldn’t come out.

He silently sighed, complaining to himself that whenever he saw Su Mianmian’s expression like that, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse her.

This must be the helplessness of having a weakness, right?

Shi Xu sighed and began to recount the grievances between him and that person.

After listening, Su Mianmian found that it was largely consistent with the novel plot she remembered.

Finally, she guessed correctly: Shi Xu had reluctantly withdrawn to protect Su Jinxuan.

For Yao Yin to be able to do such things, it was impossible without connections; he threatened Shi Xu that if he dared to report his actions, Su Jinxuan would die.

Shi Xu didn’t know how many people were behind him, and at that time, Su Jinxuan was also in mortal danger.

He could only compromise, deciding to investigate slowly later.

As a result, that waiting extended until now.

Shi Xu felt a little guilty; he had never been able to expose that person’s true face.

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu’s guilty expression and couldn’t help but reach out and rub his head.

Just as he encouraged her, she also used this method to encourage him.

Shi Xu looked up at Su Mianmian, a hint of joy in his eyes.

Su Mianmian was wondering why he was looking at her like that when suddenly the world seemed to spin, and when she opened her eyes again, she was sitting on Shi Xu’s lap.

”What are you doing?”

”Why did you...”

Su Mianmian didn’t finish her sentence, but from her blushing face, Shi Xu knew what she hadn’t said.

He smiled without answering.

He rested his head on her shoulder and rubbed against her a few times.

Su Mianmian felt that he was acting a bit like a playful puppy.

Her heart couldn’t help but soften.

Shi Xu held Su Mianmian like that for an unknown amount of time before he finally lifted his head.

”Mianmian, we’ve been together for so long, have your feelings for me changed?”

”It’s time for us to take our relationship further.”

Shi Xu looked at Su Mianmian with a serious expression, his hands holding her firmly, not allowing her to evade in the slightest.

Su Mianmian knew that if she tried to brush it off again today, Shi Xu would be very disappointed.

She also didn’t want to be someone who avoided problems.

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu, recalling their first meeting until now; it seemed she had already been unknowingly attracted to him.

Whether it was Shi Xu’s protection when they encountered danger while traveling abroad, or his meticulous care for her in their daily interactions, she liked and was very satisfied with it all.

Having such a powerful lover who respects women didn’t seem bad at all.

Although Su Mianmian had never been in love before, she had an intuition that Shi Xu was the one for this lifetime.

No matter if he would change in the future or betray her, she wanted to tell him now that she wanted to be with him.

Right now, she just wanted to enjoy the present.

”Shi Xu, let’s be a real couple from now on!”

”No matter what the future holds, we like each other now, don’t we?”

Su Mianmian blinked at Shi Xu, saying with a joyful expression.

When Shi Xu heard Su Mianmian say the words ”be a real couple,” he felt as if he had hallucinated.

He said anxiously, ”Mianmian, what did you say? Can you say it again?”

Su Mianmian had expected Shi Xu to be excited when he heard her words, but she hadn’t expected him to be this excited.

She repeated it, this time even more solemnly.

When Shi Xu heard the words he wanted to hear again, he finally couldn’t help but pull Su Mianmian tightly into his embrace.

”Mianmian, I will never let you down.”

”Don’t worry.”

Shi Xu held her tightly, promising earnestly.

Su Mianmian closed her eyes and hummed in acknowledgment.

Actually, she didn’t care; she didn’t like to think about such long-term things, she just wanted to cherish the present, cherish the hard-won happiness.

As for the future, let the future decide!

Su Mianmian’s lips curved slightly upward, revealing a faint smile.

When the two finally understood each other’s feelings, the happiest people were Su Jinxuan and Mother Shi.

When they heard Su Mianmian tell Shi Xu that they would have another wedding once the base was built, both of them showed obvious smiles.

Su Mianmian’s face turned red under their gaze; she hid behind Shi Xu, not daring to show herself.

Shi Xu smiled and turned sideways to shield her.

”Alright, we’ll have to trouble you two then.”

”Thank you for your hard work.”

Shi Xu said with gratitude.

Mother Shi and Su Jinxuan looked displeased; they didn’t feel troubled at all, only happy.

The joyous news of Shi Xu and Su Mianmian broke the peace of the home, making everyone excited for a long time.

Su Mianmian couldn’t help but smile, seeing how happy they were.

Thinking of Yao Yin’s matter, she was still a little displeased.

This person dared to harm Shi Xu and Su Jinxuan; she definitely wouldn’t let him off.

”Shi Xu, do you want revenge?”

Su Mianmian looked at Shi Xu with a serious expression, asking earnestly.

Her eyes held a familiar anger that Shi Xu recognized, which indicated her inner displeasure.

Shi Xu’s smile faded, and he asked, ”Did you think of something?”

Su Mianmian gave him a look that said, ”You’re so smart,” then turned to look out the window, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips, ”Why don’t we take all of his supplies?”

She was certain that Yao Yin had hidden the embezzled supplies; if they could find this batch of supplies and take it all for themselves, it would count as revenge.

Even if they couldn’t kill Yao Yin, they could at least infuriate him to death.

Su Mianmian couldn’t help but curve her lips into a joyful smile.

Shi Xu didn’t want to discourage Su Mianmian, but he had to tell her the truth.

”Yao Yin is a very cunning person; we were with him for so long and didn’t discover his problems.”

”And now it’s the apocalypse; he must have many backup plans.”

”It won’t be easy for us to deal with him.”

Shi Xu reached out and rubbed Su Mianmian’s head; he knew she wanted to avenge him and Su Jinxuan, but revenge wasn’t that simple.

Just finding the supplies Yao Yin had hidden, as she suggested, seemed very difficult to him.

Now there was a flood; not to mention whether those supplies were still there, considering Yao Yin’s vigilance, he might not even have kept the supplies in this city.

Perhaps he had strongholds in many cities.

If they were to try and collect all of them, it would simply be more trouble than it was worth.

Shi Xu pondered, chin in hand, feeling it still wasn’t feasible.

Seeing Shi Xu so unenthusiastic about the matter, Su Mianmian recalled the plot in the book and realized that the place he was going was the same as theirs.

Without supplies, survival in the apocalypse was impossible; Yao Yin abandoning the city he had lived in for so long and traveling thousands of miles to such a distant city.

It indicated that there must be something there that attracted him.

Su Mianmian had reason to suspect that most of Yao Yin’s supplies were in City H.

”Shi Xu, if the city Yao Yin is going to is the same as ours, doesn’t that mean his supplies are all there?”

Su Mianmian asked, looking at Shi Xu with deep eyes.

Shi Xu nodded without hesitation, ”Definitely. If he didn’t have supplies, he wouldn’t have run off to such a distant place.”

Yao Yin was a very cunning person, and he didn’t trust anyone.

He liked to handle many important matters personally.

If Yao Yin’s supplies were all in City H, he would indeed give up staying here.

Listening to Shi Xu’s words, Su Mianmian understood that her guess was correct.

In that case, things would be much easier to handle.
