Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man

Chapter 92: Chapter 45: Mom, He Wants to Sleep with Me (Part 2)

”Argh! It hurts!” The pain made Liu Guihua see stars. She felt something in her mouth besides the agony. After spitting out a mouthful of blood and a front tooth, Liu Guihua froze for a second before letting out a bloodcurdling scream. ”Aah! My tooth!”

”Mom!” Seeing this, Xu Chunyan immediately reacted and ran to Liu Guihua’s side. ”Mom, are you okay?” she asked worriedly. ”Blood... Mom, you’re bleeding!”

Liu Guihua weighed two hundred pounds, and that was a nasty fall. It was painful just to watch.

Mr. and Mrs. Xie breathed a sigh of relief. Mrs. Xie, in particular, thought, ’Getting charged with murder over someone like Liu Guihua would be completely ridiculous.’

”My tooth!” Liu Guihua shrieked again and again.

Xu Chunyan saw that her mother’s nose was also broken, and her heart ached. ”Mom, your nose...?”

Liu Guihua wiped her nose, grimacing in pain. When she saw the blood on the back of her hand, she began to tremble. ”Honey, it hurts so much,” she said to her daughter. ”Am I going to die?”

”Mom, it’s okay, you’re not going to die.” Xu Chunyan tried to help her mother up, but she was too heavy. Xu Chunyan couldn’t budge her. Xu Chunwang was terrified, but he was in no condition to help either. Xu Chunyan had no choice but to call to her husband for help. ”Jing Er, get over here and help me get Mom on her feet!”

Jie Jingwei glanced at his father. Seeing his father’s tacit approval, he strode over to them. Even with both him and Xu Chunyan pulling, they could only manage to get Liu Guihua into a sitting position on the floor.

”Aunt Qiao,” Xu Chunyan pleaded, turning to Mrs. Xie for help.

Mrs. Xie didn’t want to get involved, but she was a doctor. Her professional ethics wouldn’t allow her to stand by and watch someone injured without helping.

After quickly tending to Liu Guihua’s wounds to stop the bleeding, Mrs. Xie said to Xu Chunyan and Jie Jingwei, ”Take her to the hospital.”

Going to the hospital meant spending money. She had to be taken, yes, but the matter of the medical bills needed to be settled first.

”Fourth Sister-in-law,” Xu Chunyan said, looking up at Qin Mei.

Qin Mei was toying with the cleaver, one moment picking at the blade with a fingernail, the next flicking it with a finger. Hearing Xu Chunyan call her name, she let out a soft chuckle. ”Yes?”

”You’re paying for my mom’s medical bills,” Xu Chunyan said, getting straight to the point.

”Me? Pay?” Qin Mei looked as if she’d just heard the funniest joke in the world. ”Second Sister-in-law, is your family name ’Blame’ or something? You’re trying to pin this on me?”

”You’re the one who made my mom get hurt. All these people saw it. You think you can deny it?” Xu Chunyan sneered. ’When she dislocated Chunwang’s jaw, they weren’t there. But now, she’s injured her own mother right in front of everyone.’

”Second Sister-in-law, what’s this about denying things? What does your mother’s injury have to do with me? I didn’t even touch a corner of her clothes. Everyone saw it. Your mother fell all on her own. You can’t blame me for that.” Qin Mei’s eyes narrowed into a smile, but it held no warmth.

Xu Chunyan gritted her teeth, struggling to control her emotions. ”You may not have touched my mom, but you were holding a cleaver. My mom charged at you. If you hadn’t been holding that cleaver, my mom wouldn’t have...”

”Wouldn’t have what?” Qin Mei cut her off. ”Wouldn’t have just fallen by herself, but taken me down with her? Second Sister-in-law, take a look at your mother’s build, then look at mine. If I hadn’t dodged, she would have flattened me. Besides, why did your mother suddenly charge at me like a madwoman in the first place?”

”You were holding a cleaver,” Xu Chunyan repeated, ignoring everything else and hammering that one point.

Qin Mei’s expression hardened, and a cold laugh escaped her lips. Her gaze on Xu Chunyan was piercing. ”I was holding a cleaver. Is that a crime? Danger was coming right at me, so I dodged. Is that a crime?”

Xu Chunyan was on the verge of being driven mad by Qin Mei. ”You came at my mom with a cleaver at noon!”

”Second Sister-in-law, you need proof when you make accusations. You say I cut your mom? Where’s the wound? I won’t stand for baseless slander.” Qin Mei casually swung the cleaver a few times.

Jie Jingchen reached out, took Qin Mei’s wrist, and gently removed the cleaver from her grasp. ”Cleavers aren’t toys. You could hurt yourself.”

Qin Mei froze, watching as Jie Jingchen took the cleaver. Seeing it in his hand, she abandoned the thought of trying to get it back.

’Still, it was better for the cleaver to be in the hands of someone on her side.’

Liu Guihua had recovered slightly. Enduring the pain, she cursed, ”You little bitch, you’ll pay for my tooth.”

’She hadn’t gotten the money, and now she was injured. If she went to the hospital and the Jie Family refused to foot the bill, she’d have to pay herself. No, absolutely not.’

Qin Mei shook her arm, a wide, triumphant smile on her face. ”Granny Liu, just a friendly reminder: I despise being cursed at. Anyone who dares to do it will get their jaw dislocated.”

”You little—” Remembering the miserable state of her own son, Liu Guihua didn’t dare to finish the insult and provoke Qin Mei.

’So young and pretty, yet so utterly ruthless.’

”Pay for my medical bills!” Liu Guihua had originally planned to use this opportunity to extort a hefty sum from Qin Mei. But the memory of Qin Mei swinging that cleaver at her—that girl really would attack if she said she would—was terrifying, even if she had only used the flat of the blade. ’And because of her, my tooth is gone and my nose is broken,’ she thought. ’How much is this going to cost at the hospital?!’
