Apocalypse Rebirth: Making Billions With My Fortune-Telling Skill

With her first 50 million secured for the morning, April didn’t waste any time. She requested a secure transport from Xavier’s staff, and a few minutes later, she was sitting in the back of a sleek, black luxury sedan.

Behind the wheel was trusty ol’ Samuel, looking as sharp, imposing, and stoic as ever. Every trace of a broken heart was gone and replaced with his usual professionalism.

”To the safehouse, Miss April?” Samuel asked, catching her eye in the rearview mirror.

”Yes, Samuel. Let’s make it quick,” April replied, leaning back against the leather seat.

Samuel gave a firm nod, smoothly driving out the driveway and down the hill.

Within twenty minutes, he pulled the vehicle into the underground parking structure of a highly fortified, hidden medical safehouse where Alexander was currently with his grandfather.

Samuel immediately stepped out, opening the door for her and remaining a half-step behind her, acting as her shadow and personal security as they bypassed the heavy biometric scanners at the entrance.

The moment she stepped into the private medical suite with Samuel at her side, the tense, suffocating atmosphere hit her.

Alexander was pacing the floor, practically wearing a hole in the carpet. He was fully dressed in a tailored suit, preparing for the critical upcoming board conference, but his tie was slightly askew and his face was pale, worry written all over it.

When he saw April enter, he practically lunged toward her like a drowning man catching a liferaft.

”Miss April! Thank God you’re here,” Alexander breathed out, his voice laced with pure anxiety. ”The doctors say his vitals are stable, but he’s completely dead to the world. The board conference is in two hours. Uncle Harvey is going to move to seize control if I don’t go there and I’m not confident I can do it on my own. I need my grandfather to stop him.”

His words were literally flying out of his mouth in a rush. ”I’m just... I’m too anxious. I need to know if he can go with me. You said yesterday that he would wake up today, right? Is he going to open his eyes or not?”

April stood by the bedside, looking down at the frail, pale old man hooked up to various monitors. Hearing Alexander’s desperate questions, a sudden realization clicked in her mind.

Wait... did the system predict yesterday that he would wake up today because it knew I would bring out the revitalization spring water and feed it to him?

She didn’t fully understand the complex paradoxes of the system’s foresight, but it seemed highly likely.

Without a word, April pulled the small glass vial of shimmering, crystal-pure spring water from her spatial dimension. She stepped up to the bed and uncapped it.

Samuel stood guard near the door, his eyes narrowing slightly as he observed the luminescent fluid, while Alexander’s eyes widened in absolute bewilderment. ”Miss April? What’s that? What are you feeding him?”

”Just relax,” April said calmly but firmly, her authoritative tone instantly cutting through his panic. ”If you want him at that conference, let me work my magic.”

Gently parting the unconscious old man’s lips, April tipped the vial and poured the revitalization spring water into his mouth.

For a second, nothing happened. She waited patiently but she could feel Alexander’s curious, anticipating gaze boring into the back of her head.

”It’s going to work,” she muttered, confident in the revitalization spring. ”It will.”

Then, the heart monitor began to beep with a sudden, vibrant rhythm. The deep, sickly gray tint on Robert Greels’ skin began to recede at a visible pace, replaced by a sudden rush of healthy, warm color.

The deep, ragged breaths he was drawing instantly smoothed out into a calm, settled one.

Alexander watched in absolute, jaw-dropping shock as his grandfather’s eyelids fluttered, and then, with a sharp intake of air, Robert Greels opened his eyes, his gaze remarkably clear and alert.

”Grandpa!” Alexander gasped, rushing to the side of the bed.

Robert blinked, looking around the room before his eyes settled on his grandson, and then on April. Though he was still recovering his bearings, the sheer vitality pumping through his veins was undeniable. He didn’t look like a man who had been poisoned hours ago; he looked like a man who had just finished a rejuvenating vacation.

”Alex, my boy,” the old man called, his voice thick with life and emotion. Alexander hugged him tightly, his eyes tearing up.

”Samuel,” April called, watching the scene with a look of detached amusement on her face. ”What’s the time right now?”

Samuel checked his watch instantly. ”7:30, Miss April,” he answered.

April closed her eyes for a second. So, the system did indeed predict my path of action. Though it hadn’t explicitly spelled it out in yesterday’s fortune reading, it definitely knew exactly what she would do in the future. Ah, a fortune-telling system indeed.

An emotional Alexander turned back to April. His eyes were wide, glistening with tears he didn’t even try to hide, reflecting a mix of profound awe and intense emotion.

”Miss April... I don’t even have the words,” Alexander said, his voice trembling slightly. ”You saved my life, and now you’ve brought my grandfather back from the brink of death. I am indebted to you. The entire Greels family is indebted to you. Whatever you need, for the rest of your life, you name it and it’s yours.”

”I’ll hold you to that, Alexander,” April replied with a calm, professional smirk. ”But right now, I’ll have to tell you the price for the water I just fed your grandfather.” She shook the empty glass vial between her fingers. ”It’s not cheap.”

”Whatever the price, I will definitely pay it,” Alexander claimed. His eyes were completely firm with a resolve to spend his entire share of the Greels assets if he had to, just to thank the woman who had made his grandfather well again.

Behind them, the nurse and doctors were already swarming the Chairman’s side, checking his vitals and marveling at the miracle that had just occurred right under their noses.

”It’s very expensive,” April continued. ”After all, it’s a kind of water that cures all diseases and clears all toxins. If you check the old man now, you’ll find that he’s as healthy as a newborn and can live with you for even twenty more years.”

Alexander gulped. Something like that actually exists?

If it had been advertised by any other person on earth, he would have called it an absolute sham. But this was done by none other than April. Plus, he had just witnessed the liquid perform an impossible miracle with his own eyes, so how could he doubt it? Right now, his only fear was that he might not be able to pay her immediately since he would need time to liquidate and gather that kind of capital.

Meanwhile, April was also contemplating the price. Just how much should I get from the Greels?
