Chapter 3299: Chapter 3300: Secrets of the Barrier Break

The Dog Deacon did not explicitly reveal his abilities, but Nahuat was not dim-witted and already guessed the answer.

This answer made Nahuat’s eyes widen in astonishment.

The mere act of peering into the heart’s impressions can also retrieve previous thoughts; such ability is truly beyond belief.

In an instant, Nahuat’s mind was filled with countless thoughts, yet ultimately, all the chaotic ideas transformed into deep apprehension and... a subtle intent to kill.

However, the moment this murderous intent surfaced, the Dog Deacon raised his eyes and looked over.

His eyes were very clear, lacking the murkiness of humans. Yet, within this clarity, Nahuat saw a hint of mockery.

It was as if mocking his ideas, deeming them over-ambitious.

Nahuat knew very well that he could not possibly kill the Dog Deacon. Especially as the Dog Deacon was within the Everything House; even if he went all out, he probably wouldn’t be able to harm a single hair.

But even with this understanding, the murderous intent born from fear still stirred within him restlessly.

It felt as if it were a natural instinct, or indeed, an instinct ingrained deep within the bloodline.

Much like insects facing avians, when being targeted by a predator, it’s an instinct of both fear and hatred, yet helpless.

Knowing it cannot be done, yet the murderous intent still stirs.

The last time Nahuat met the Dog Deacon, he didn’t know the extent of its abilities. Now he finally understood why so many would feel murderous intent when mentioning the Dog Deacon. Even his mentor Narudo was the same.

His abilities indeed counter all Mirror Domain beings.

”Counter” means ”enemy.”

An enemy without ”reason” is seen as a ”natural enemy.”

So ask, who when facing a natural enemy can restrain their murderous intent?

Nahuat tried to forcibly suppress the murderous intent in his heart, for which traces of blood even appeared in his silver eyes.

He barely managed to suppress the murderous intent, but the Dog Deacon across him casually said, ”Those who witness my abilities mostly want to kill me.”

”Take Sipolov sitting over there, don’t be fooled by how properly he’s sitting now, when he signed the contract with me earlier, his expression wasn’t very different from yours.”

The Dog Deacon said plainly, ”Those who want to kill me in the Daylight Mirror Domain aren’t one thousand, then at least nine hundred. Your mentor Narudo even tried using allure to kill me.”

”Of course, you see the result now. If she indeed could kill me, you wouldn’t be standing before me now.”

”Thus, no need to hold back... because I personally don’t mind.”

Having seen much, there’s no need to concern.

Nahuat’s barely suppressed murderous intent, because of the Dog Deacon’s candid expression, broke free of its shackles once again.

The murderous intent surged forward; though the intent moved, the body had to restrain.

This made Nahuat feel very uncomfortable, especially as the Dog Deacon’s gaze bore unknown mocking undertone. This made him both displeased and helpless.

Nahuat simply closed his eyes, turning a blind eye for peace of mind.

”Since the contract is signed, may I leave with it now?”

The Dog Deacon’s ears drooped lazily side to side, ”You may.”

Nahuat immediately picked up the contract document and stood up.

He opened his eyes only when turning his back to the Dog Deacon.

He opened his eyes and happened to meet Angel’s gaze, hesitated, then nodded towards Angel again, thankful for the cloud sofa he crafted.

Angel responded with a smile.

Nahuat didn’t say anything else, taking large strides heading towards the exit of the Dog House.

Just when Nahuat was about to lift the door curtain to leave, the Dog Deacon seemed reminded of something and suddenly spoke, ”If someone asks about the authenticity of the contract later, I’ll say it’s real. But if they ask for more, such as deeper motives of the Changhuo Clan... as long as they sign a commission, I won’t keep it secret.”

The Dog Deacon had read from Nahuat’s previous heart impressions that the Changhuo Clan’s promotion of the Barrier Break Method not only intended to disrupt various clans but also schemed against the Immortal Mirror Sea.

About this, if others don’t ask, the Dog Deacon is too lazy to elaborate. But if someone inquires, the Dog Deacon won’t keep Nahuat’s secrets.

Nahuat pondered for a moment, then turned his face to the side, ”And if I were to sign another contract now, would Your Excellency the Deacon remain silent?” ℯ

The Dog Deacon lazily waved a paw, ”I only handle the contract signing aspect; if you wish to commission further, go post a task outside, or run processes with the Ghost Steward.”

”If you truly can initiate a contract again, I can remain silent for it.”

The Dog Deacon said this, but his tone and what he said were completely opposite. He didn’t believe Nahuat could sign a second contract.

The Ghost Steward surely had other clan members waiting there, it couldn’t possibly allow Nahuat the time for a second contract.

Nahuat apparently realized this too, silently nodded after pondering for a moment, ”I understand, thank you for the reminder, Your Excellency the Deacon.”

Dog Deacon: ”Given your decent manners, I can remind you... there are many plotting against the Immortal Mirror Sea, but none have succeeded. The existence of the Immortal Mirror Sea, like the Sea of Void Mirror, is an embodiment of foundational laws in the Mirror Domain. Unless your power is enough to rewrite the domain laws, you’ll only end in vain, becoming a target for all.”

Nahuat stopped in his tracks, turned around, took a deep look at the Dog Deacon, then bowed slightly, ”Thanks for the reminder, but...”

”My understanding only represents my limits. The Immortal Mirror Sea is my understanding limit, but it’s not the end of Changhuo Clan’s understanding. Your Excellency the Deacon, haven’t you considered why Mentor Narudo sent me to the Everything House?”

Nahuat at this point didn’t continue further, instead left carrying the Dark Panther, turning directly out of the Dog House, leaving behind a full room of silence.

After a full two minutes, Luigi was first to break the silent atmosphere.

”What kind of riddles were you just playing? How does the Changhuo Clan’s Barrier Break Method relate to the Immortal Mirror Sea?” Luigi curiously looked toward the Dog Deacon.

The Dog Deacon said impatiently, ”Don’t ask about the contract.”

Luigi: ”You let us be witnesses, and we can’t even ask?”

The Dog Deacon was too lazy to bother with Luigi, its inner annoyance from Luigi pulling it into Pumpkin House twice... but that was limited to Luigi, if it were Laplace curious, it wouldn’t mind sharing.

As the Dog Deacon thought of this, it instinctively glanced at Laplace, finding Laplace gazing back at him.

The Dog Deacon’s heart skipped a beat.

Even though it wasn’t using its abilities at the moment, it could roughly guess Laplace’s meaning from her gaze.

”You... You want to know too?” The Dog Deacon stammered.

Laplace nodded noncommittally: ”Indeed, I’m a bit curious. If it’s something that can be talked about, I’d like to hear it. If not, that’s fine.”

Dog Deacon: ”It’s not that it can’t be said...”

Just now, it had mentioned the Immortal Mirror Sea right in front of Nahuat, so naturally, it could talk about it.

Moreover, Nahuat hadn’t proposed to conceal it either.

The Dog Deacon thought for a moment, began to organize its words, and prepared to start from the beginning. This softened attitude of Dog Deacon was quite ordinary to Angel and Laplace, after all, Dog Deacon itself could be considered Laplace’s Temporal Body.

But to Sipolov, this was simply inconceivable.

Especially, Sipolov suddenly felt a bit inexplicably honored. He was supposed to be the one fulfilling the favor Angel had proposed, but now he was relying on this favor he sold to hear secrets that concern various tribes... This feeling was very odd, hard to pinpoint with an accurate description.

If Angel could hear Sipolov’s inner thoughts at the moment, he could probably summarize Sipolov’s feelings.

Simply put, it was... eating melons on the front lines.

In fact, once Sipolov left the Dog House today, with what he had seen and heard, he could position himself right in the melon field and become the new melon.

Setting aside Sipolov’s complex thoughts for now, on this end, the Dog Deacon already started talking about the Changhuo Clan’s purpose in introducing the Barrier-Breaking Method.

”The Changhuo Clan is willing to share the Barrier-Breaking Method, naturally with a purpose. One of the purposes, without needing me to say, you should be able to guess... It is to disrupt various tribes.”

Breaking mirrors, this action alone tends to lead to disputes among tribes. If breaking mirrors is linked with Barrier-breaking, it’s even more catastrophic, the disaster of disasters.

Take a simple example, initially, two tribes only have minor friction, stepping back a bit could resolve it; but if one party has someone stuck on the edge of Barrier-breaking, deciding to implement Mirror-breaking Barrier-breaking Method, the minor friction could easily escalate into major conflict, even to the point where both sides fight to the death.

This is the first step of the Barrier-Breaking Method disrupting tribes.

”As for the Changhuo Clan’s other purpose, according to what Nahuat’s inner mark coveted, they aim to target the Immortal Mirror Sea.”

The Immortal Mirror Sea, when viewed from afar, glimmers like the Milky Way. The reason for this constant flickering effect is the continuous birth and death of Mirror Lights within.

Each Mirror Light’s birth and death signifies the shattering of a space within the mirror.

And the Changhuo Clan’s Barrier-Breaking Method requires the premise of ”breaking mirror.” If this ”breaking mirror” can interact with the continuous birth and death of Mirror Lights in the Immortal Mirror Sea, the effect would be incredibly terrifying.

It’s equivalent to gaining an eternal Barrier-breaking machine!

That is the Changhuo Clan’s second purpose.

Luigi: ”Although the Immortal Mirror Sea is constantly ’breaking mirrors,’ the breaking mirrors only release ordinary Aggregation Energy, which should be different from the special Aggregation Energy that corresponds to the Barrier-Breaking Method, right?”

Although the Immortal Mirror Sea is dangerous, it constantly releases Aggregation Energy, therefore many tribes reside above the Immortal Mirror Sea. This released Aggregation Energy comes from the extinction of Mirror Lights.

If these Mirror Lights were special Aggregation Energy, tribes would have started researching it long ago, and it wouldn’t be the Changhuo Clan’s turn to publish their papers.

Moreover, Pipi Castle, the place with the most scholars and the most knowledgeable in research in the entire Daylight Mirror Domain, is located atop the Immortal Mirror Sea. If the Immortal Mirror Sea indeed released special Aggregation Energy, the Pirush scholars would have discovered it immediately.

Now, since there’s no related research from Pirush scholars, it indicates the issue.

”The Aggregation Energy released from the extinction of the Mirror Lights in the Immortal Mirror Sea indeed differs from the Aggregation Energy required by the Barrier-Breaking Method. However, this doesn’t matter; after all, didn’t they share the Barrier-Breaking Method?” The Dog Deacon said meaningfully.

Luigi was stunned for a moment: ”You mean the Changhuo Clan plans for other tribes to research?”

The Dog Deacon nodded: ”Yes, they couldn’t research it themselves, but it doesn’t mean others can’t. Bear in mind, there are thousands of tribes residing above the Immortal Mirror Sea, many knowledgeable and skilled in research, concentrated there; with their participation, they might research a Barrier-breaking perpetual machine centered around the Immortal Mirror Sea.”

Luigi: ”But even if others manage to research it, the research results should belong to others, it wouldn’t have any relation to the Changhuo Clan, right? They can’t force others to hand over their research, can they? Unless...”

Luigi continued to question himself while simultaneously denying his thoughts, until finally, he thought of a possibility.

”Unless the Barrier-Breaking Method contains deeper secrets? And these secrets are only known to the Changhuo Clan?”

Only if the Changhuo Clan holds the core secrets can they flaunt their method even after others research the Barrier-breaking perpetual machine, or even trade for research reports on it.

Luigi voiced his speculation.

After hearing, the Dog Deacon said indifferently: ”I can’t confirm if your speculation is true. But according to Nahuat’s inner mark, the Barrier-Breaking Method indeed might hold certain hidden secrets.”

”However, even Nahuat doesn’t know these secrets.”

”Perhaps only Narudo truly knows all the secrets of the Barrier-Breaking Method.”

Luigi didn’t quite understand: ”If the Barrier-Breaking Method holds secrets, would other tribes recognize the contract in Nahuat’s hands?”

The Dog Deacon: ”Why wouldn’t they? As long as the Barrier-Breaking Method is genuine, even if there are hidden secrets, it’s a matter of gambling between each tribe’s leader and Narudo.”

Simply put, Nahuat is being watched right now because tribes still have doubts about the truth of the Barrier-Breaking Method.

Once it’s confirmed usable, the subsequent matters would be beyond Nahuat’s involvement, becoming a matter between the tribes’ higher-ups.

Luigi nodded thoughtfully: ”I understand roughly... But speaking of which, when Nahuat left previously, he mentioned ’the Immortal Mirror Sea was just his limit of comprehension,’ what did that mean?”

As the Dog Deacon fiddled with its furry tail using its paw, it replied: ”What Nahuat meant by saying this is implicitly stating his comprehension of the Barrier-Breaking Method is limited; he too suspects the Barrier-Breaking Method holds deeper secrets.”

Nahuat finally said: Let the Dog Deacon consider why Narudo would send him to the Everything House?

That’s essentially the same meaning.

From what he knows about Narudo, he reckons Narudo sent him because Narudo knows very well he doesn’t know the deepest secrets of the Barrier-Breaking Method.

Because of Nahuat’s ”ignorance,” Narudo doesn’t worry about him being spied upon in his mind by the Dog Deacon.

Luigi: ”So you’re saying there’s mutual suspicion between Nahuat and Narudo as well?”

The Dog Deacon nodded: ”Yes, that’s exactly it.”

Luigi frowned and shook his head, exclaiming: ”No wonder it’s the Changhuo Clan, that there could be such suspicion even between mentor and student.”
