Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1506: Section 1507: Nail Granny’s Invitation Chapter 1506: Section 1507: Nail Granny’s Invitation Among the two, one was an enchanting woman with lush green hair, opulent in figure yet with an astonishingly slender waist, garbed in a tight, purple long gown beneath, and wrapped in a hollowed-out robe adorned with intricate patterned flowers.

She sat atop the handle of a long scythe, noteworthy for the fact that only the scythe’s blade gleamed with a sharp, frosty light, while the handle portion she perched on was composed of numerous glowing blossoms.

Her attire blended to create an aura that was both mysterious and captivating.

As for the man who stood in opposition to her, Angel was no stranger.

Wearing a black felt hat studded with rivets, his coat too was adorned with chains and studs. His drooping eyes were rimmed with black, his crimson mouth slightly ajar, revealing the stark white tusks within.

The most eye-catching feature was the pair of black bat wings spreading from his back, which, when fully extended, nearly covered half of the moon.

“Why is Falga here?” Angel murmured doubtfully.

“You know him?” Greya inquired.

Angel nodded and briefly explained Falga’s background.

“So he’s kin of Talos.” Greya raised an eyebrow, “No wonder, one plays with crows, the other with demon bats.”

“Why are they fighting?” Angel curiously asked.

“I don’t know, it seems like your Falga was the one who provoked the woman, and then, they started clashing,” Greya said, “But that’s normal. The New Star Competition is in full swing, young people need to vent their energy, fighting is one way to relieve stress.”

“So they come to the outskirts to fight because they dare not in the main city area?”

Greya shook her finger, “Not quite, there’s fighting in the main city too. You’re unaware because you’ve been cooped up in the study, but I’ve been watching the excitement all day. Magic Energy Eyes flying all over, Enforcement Squads rushing around; it’s quite the scene.”

Getting caught by the Enforcement Squad meant facing severe punishment, yet there were always those who couldn’t hold back their temper.

Falga and the scythe woman’s battle could be considered proper, at least they’re fighting outside the main city area and not causing trouble for the Enforcement Squad.

More powerful ripples of energy emanated from a distance.

Angel looked over and saw Falga and the scythe woman once again entangled in combat, Falga transformed into a Demon Bat, and the scythe woman swung a blade much larger than herself under the moon, the fight raging back and forth.

Light flickered unsteadily.

Angel glanced over and then returned his attention to his drink, took a sip, set down the glass, and prepared to turn back.

“Aren’t you going to watch the action?”

“The outcome is already determined.”

Falga and the Flower Scythe Lady, though appearing evenly matched at the moment, if the fight were to continue, the Flower Scythe Lady would surely lose. The reason was simple, the demon bats Falga controlled were not just one, and under the moonlight they underwent significant transformations, doubling their energy level.

The Flower Scythe Lady was already a notch weaker than Falga, and accounting for the augmentation of the demon bats, even if she brought out powerful Alchemy Tools, it would be unlikely for her to turn the tables.

Watching a battle with a foreseeable outcome was indeed somewhat tedious.

Angel returned to his study to continue arranging the auxiliary materials needed for the Shapeshifting Technique.

Immersed in his organization, Angel gradually stopped paying attention to the outside world. After a long while, there came a knock at the door.

At that moment, Angel had just finished comparing the last auxiliary material.

He tucked away the stack of paper he’d sorted out, pierced onto the fixture pin beside him, and said, “Come in.”

The door opened, and outside was a floating Metallic Mana Eye, yet this Mana Eye was wearing a very clean top hat, with a bow tie stuck underneath the sound hole. At first glance, there might be a sense of discordant absurdity, but with prolonged contact, one grows accustomed to it, even seeing a certain gentlemanly quality in the large spherical shape.

The visitor was indeed the number 1 butler of the mansion.

“Butler, what is it?”

“Young Master Pat, I have just received an invitation card, addressed specifically to you.”

“An invitation card for me?” Angel took the invitation card with some confusion. He had only arrived at Sky Mechanical City today; there shouldn’t be many who knew of his arrival. Who could have sent the invitation?

Angel opened the invitation card, which simply expressed a hope to meet with him. But when he looked at the signature at the end, a trace of perplexity flashed through his eyes.

“Nail… Granny?”

Angel put away the invitation card. He might have hesitated with other people’s invitations, but Nail Granny’s invitation was one he was bound to accept.

During the witness ceremony before, Nail Granny broke her many years of custom and appeared in person, thus Angel’s induction ceremony into the Research and Development Institute wasn’t met with much opposition.

Otherwise, even if “Grafting Madman” Dong La wasn’t present, with the Alchemists’ typically arrogant temperaments, even if they outwardly agreed with Director Muse’s opinion, they likely would have created obstacles during the witness ceremony just like Magus Tong.

Moreover, Angel had actually been planning to visit the Nail Alchemy Shop, as he still needed to purchase auxiliary materials for the Shapeshifting Technique. He just didn’t expect Nail Granny to take the first step and send him an invitation card.

However, Angel was somewhat puzzled; why didn’t Nail Granny directly contact him with a communicator instead and chose this more formal way?

Angel changed into formal clothing and came down from upstairs.

As he was walking through the courtyard, preparing to leave, he heard Greya’s voice from above: “Are you going out?”

Before Angel could respond, Greya, who was sitting on the rooftop, continued: “There are many Apprentices nearby the manor, it seems they’ve learned of your arrival in Sky Mechanical City, all here for you.”

“Apprentices?” Angel looked at Greya, puzzled.

“Yes, all Apprentices. Some appear to believe the rumors that your promotion to Wizard is fake and have come to challenge you, wanting to gain fame by defeating you, like the Flower Scythe Lady… the woman who just fought with Falga earlier. Knowing her intent, Falga engaged in battle with her. It seems your relationship with Falga is not bad, huh?”

Angel recalled for a moment, he remembered Falga seeming to hold hostility towards him, so their relationship should not be harmonious.

“Another part are people from various gossip magazines. They probably aren’t here to challenge you, just to confirm whether you’ve been promoted or not. However, if you get challenged after going out and no matter whether you accept or not, with the nature of these gossip magazines, there will certainly be no shortage of sensation.”

“I understand.” Angel didn’t care much for such matters, but he would avoid trouble if he could.

He thanked Greya and a slight ripple appeared around him in the air.

Angel concealed himself with an Illusion Technique, blending completely into the surrounding Illusionary Realm. If Greya hadn’t seen Angel disappear with her own eyes, she would probably have had a hard time seeing through this Art of Illusion.

Under the cloak of the Art of Illusion, Angel left the mansion.

Sure enough, he saw many loitering Apprentices nearby, but Angel paid them no mind and flew away.

On the way to Manshi Magic Material Street, Angel got a taste of the “liveliness” Greya spoke of.

The area was very close to Champagne Road. Basically, all the contestants participating in the New Star Contest, or the spectators going to watch it, would linger around here.

Angel hadn’t even reached Manshi Magic Material Street when he had already witnessed several street battles.

Some fights were halted as soon as they began, usually those amongst the lower or intermediate Apprentices. Then there were battles that were stopped only after gathering a crowd of Mana Eyes issuing warnings, along with the interference of the Enforcement Squad, and these fights typically involved Third Level Apprentices.

Another type of battle, where hundreds of Mana Eyes gathered and even though the Enforcement Squad members were nearby, no one dared to intervene.

These battles were either related to the Extreme Church or the seed contestants of the New Star Contest. The Enforcement Squad couldn’t stop them; they had to wait for the Captain to arrive.

At this moment, Angel saw such a battle taking place not far ahead.
