Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 680: Chapter 723: The Truth on the Disc

Just a few steps away, Gu Xingchen approached from the opposite direction!

Gu Xingchen raised an eyebrow, smirked, and said, ”What’s this? Wrapping up?”

”You can go back! If I find out Anxin’s disappearance involves you, don’t blame me for being ruthless!” With that, he shot Gu Xingchen a cold glance, then ignored him and walked past him.

Mu Beiting and Pete had just gotten into the business car when Ye Anxin’s phone in her bag started ringing incessantly.

Hearing Ye Anxin’s phone ring, Mu Beiting pressed his thin lips together and, after a moment’s pause, fished out the phone. Seeing the call was from home, he picked up directly. Xiao Bai’s displeased voice came through, ”Mom, what are you doing? Why aren’t you back yet? Didn’t you say you were tired and needed rest? If you’re so tired, why did you go out? You also said you’d join Dad and me for dinner. I knew you were lying to me!”

Listening to Xiao Bai’s voice, Mu Beiting’s throat tightened. He opened his mouth several times, wanting to speak, but said nothing.

Hearing no response from Ye Anxin on the other end, Xiao Bai frowned and, with patience, said, ”Mom, say something! I’ve called you so many times since school ended, and you didn’t pick up. I thought something happened to you! Not only you, even Dad isn’t answering! Are you two planning to spend the evening alone and leave me at home?” The more he spoke, the sourer his tone became.

Listening to Xiao Bai’s sour words, Mu Beiting’s gaze flickered. After swallowing hard, he finally said, ”Xiao Bai, your mom’s asleep. We’ll be back later!”

Hearing Dad’s voice on Mom’s phone, Xiao Bai was clearly taken aback but then pouted and grumbled, ”I knew you two were together! Honestly, as old married couples, you still stick together showing off your love, ignoring me entirely!”

Mu Beiting gently reassured, ”Be good, Xiao Bai. Have dinner and then go to sleep. Mom and I might be home quite late!”

”I understand! I’m just a pitiful child being abandoned!” Xiao Bai grumbled softly, but couldn’t help expressing concern, ”Mom and Dad, it’s snowing heavily outside today. Be extra careful when you return! If the snow is too heavy, I permit you not to come back tonight. Though I want you to be with me, I don’t want anything happening to you!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting’s throat felt constricted, and in a hoarse voice, he said, ”I know!”

”Remember to take good care of Mom; there’s a little baby in her belly! Send Mom my regards when she wakes up! Goodbye, Dad!” With that, he hung up.

Listening to the busy tone from the phone, it took a while before Mu Beiting placed the phone back into Ye Anxin’s bag.

After putting the phone back, Mu Beiting was about to withdraw his hand when he saw a CD in the bag. His fingers twitched, and he took out the CD, flipping it repeatedly in front of him.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Pete saw Mu Beiting with the CD through the rearview mirror. Unable to resist, he glanced back. Upon seeing the label on the CD case, he remarked, ”Boss, this CD was given to the Madam by Mr. Gu!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting’s gaze shifted to the top left corner of the CD case, clearly seeing the Gu Group logo printed there.

Pete lowered his eyes and thought for a while, boldly guessing, ”Could Madam’s disappearance be related to the contents of this CD?”

Mu Beiting didn’t speak, his eyes never leaving the CD!

Seeing Mu Beiting silent, Pete also refrained from speaking further!

Because the snowstorm was heavy, the driver didn’t dare drive too fast, so when they reached the Mu Group, the sky was pitch black, and aside from the moving vehicles, there was hardly a pedestrian in sight.

The driver drove the car to the underground parking lot, and Mu Beiting and Pete took the exclusive CEO elevator directly to the top floor CEO office.

When they returned to the office, it was empty!

Seeing Mu Beiting’s slightly weary face, Pete said with empathy, ”They intercepted Li Lin at the train station. From the station to here is quite far. The snowstorm outside could delay them a bit! Boss, you haven’t eaten all day! How about I order some takeaway for you?”

He knew that Boss was now preoccupied with thoughts of Madam! When Boss first took over the Mu Group, he worked continuously for three days and nights without showing any signs of fatigue, only becoming more spirited and determined!

But this time, the exhaustion wasn’t due to fatigue but worry for Madam! Every time Madam had an incident or went missing, Boss would show signs of tiredness!

Madam has been missing for an entire day, and we still don’t know where she is or who abducted her, nor if they would harm Madam or the baby in her womb!

Each time he witnessed Boss’s exhaustion from worrying about Madam, his heart ached!

Mu Beiting sat on the chair behind the desk, calmly said, ”I’m not hungry, you order for yourself!”

Pete opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but ultimately said nothing, quietly leaving the CEO office and taking out his phone to order two takeouts!

He knew Boss probably didn’t have any appetite at the moment! But staying hungry isn’t good for the body!

So, he decided to take the liberty of ordering one for Boss. Even if he doesn’t eat it all, having a couple of bites would be good!

When Pete reentered the CEO office after ordering the takeout, Mu Beiting had already turned on the computer, inserted the CD, and loaded the disk!

The computer quickly processed, and the CD content was loaded!

The CD’s footage showed a long corridor, devoid of people, with only a few cleaning staff occasionally pushing carts by!

Mu Beiting glanced at the timestamp in the bottom right corner of the CD!

The footage was from six years ago, at around nine o’clock in the evening!

Leaning back in his chair, Mu Beiting rhythmically tapped the desk with his long fingers. Although there was nothing in the CD, he watched it patiently!

After about two or three minutes, three figures finally appeared in the corridor!

The person in the middle seemed drunk, supported by two others on either side as they walked down the corridor!

Upon seeing these three, Mu Beiting squinted slightly, gently tapped the spacebar to freeze the frame, then enlarged the view of the three in the middle repeatedly!

When the three figures from the corridor were enlarged to fit the screen, Mu Beiting could clearly see who they were!
