High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Battle Against a Second-Level Calamity Beast

Jiangtao felt like he was having the worst luck today.

He had finally managed to bring his sister to Wanda to hang out and see a movie.

After picking up his custom Battle Saber, just as they were on Golden Street about to go see the movie, a Space Gate had unexpectedly appeared out of nowhere.

Calamity Beasts invaded, attacking the crowds. To protect his sister, he had no choice but to draw his Battle Saber and start fighting the Calamity Beasts.

...

”Brother Qi, you’re here too?!”

A look of pleasant surprise appeared on Jiangtao’s face. He was holding his Battle Saber, radiating a murderous aura, his face a mess of dust and blood. Jiang Miaoyin, beside him, was in a similar state.

A sense of security finally seeped into Jiang Miaoyin’s terrified expression.

”HISS~”

A completely pitch-black figure shot out from the corner of a shop behind them, moving like a phantom.

”Watch out!” Lin Qi shouted a warning!

Sensing the danger, Jiangtao instinctively spun around and slashed with his Battle Saber.

”BANG!”

His Battle Saber struck the creature heavily, carving a huge, bloody gash.

”BAM!!”

”YEOWL~”

The figure crashed heavily to the ground, spraying blood everywhere as it let out a piercing cry. It was a cat-shaped Calamity Beast the size of a small calf, pitch-black and as fast as lightning.

”It’s a Shadow Cat. Those things are as fast as phantoms and specialize in sneak attacks,” Jiang Miaoyin said, grinding her teeth.

”SQUELCH!!”

Jiangtao rushed forward and delivered another slash, completely ending the Shadow Cat’s life.

Lin Qi nodded to himself. ’Jiangtao is even better than I thought. His reactions are fast.’

’He’s also adapting very quickly, and his Psychological Quality is excellent.’

’His Combat Talent is definitely not weak either. He has a higher ceiling.’

”Brother Qi, how was that?” Jiangtao asked with a grin.

”Not bad!” Lin Qi nodded in praise.

”Of course!” Jiangtao beamed with a proud smile.

”Enough chit-chat. We’ll hold our ground here. Amiao, get into the back kitchen, now.”

Lin Qi said decisively.

”Okay!”

Jiangtao and Jiang Miaoyin exchanged a look and nodded in agreement.

”HISS!!”

The words had barely left his mouth. Just as the two started to move, a figure burst out from the mall. It was like an oversized heavy truck speeding down a highway.

Lin Qi felt an intense sense of danger, and his expression changed slightly.

When Jiangtao turned and saw the newcomer, his face fell. The creature was too fast, and the sharp horn on its head gave off a cold, chilling gleam.

’If that horn pierces me, my soft internal organs will be instantly shredded.’ He immediately raised his saber in front of him in a defensive stance.

This was a porcine Calamity Beast, a half-size smaller than an Iron Spike Wild Boar. But unlike the Iron Spike Wild Boar, it didn’t seem clumsy at all; it was exceptionally agile.

Moreover, its speed surpassed that of a Mastiff Dog, and its power was even more ferocious.

This was a Second-Level Calamity Beast—the Unihorned Black Pig.

”BANG!!”

”CLANG~”

With a loud crash, the Unihorned Black Pig’s horn struck the saber’s edge and scraped heavily past it, but the overwhelming force was still transferred to Jiangtao’s body.

”CRASH!!”

He was sent flying, crashing a good four or five meters into the hot pot restaurant and sending a pile of tables and chairs flying before he finally came to a stop.

”Brother!!” Jiang Miaoyin cried out in alarm.

”I’m fine!” Jiangtao, lying on the ground, slowly raised a hand. He felt like he could barely move his body.

He slowly raised his hand, enduring the intense pain.

”Watch out!!”

”BOOM!!”

Jiang Miaoyin sensed danger. The Unihorned Black Pig was charging again, and this time, its target was her.

Her eyes widened. Seeing the Unihorned Black Pig getting closer and closer, she turned and ran!

But she was too slow!

The distance between them was closing rapidly. The intense killing intent made her feel like she was suffocating!

At the critical moment, an enraged roar echoed out.

”You beast, die!”

Not far away, Lin Qi instantly made his move. He abruptly swung his Big Gun and charged forward, immense power surging endlessly into his arms.

The power transferred rapidly from his Great Tendons, his spine straightened link by link, and his blood pumped at high speed. He felt an unusual excitement coursing through his body.

His strength was several notches higher than usual.

The Big Gun in his hands came crashing down with the force of a collapsing mountain, as if it were a thunderbolt from the heavens.

Mountain Shattering Spear Technique’s Killing Technique—Mountain-Shattering Slash!

The silver spear tip whistled through the air as the Long Spear smashed down toward the Unihorned Black Pig’s head, concentrating all his strength into the blow.

”BANG-CLANG!!”

The Unihorned Black Pig turned its head, and its horn collided violently with Lin Qi’s Big Gun, creating a shower of sparks before the weapon continued downward to smash into its head.

”BANG!!”

After two consecutive loud bangs, the Unihorned Black Pig’s head was slammed into the ground.

”ROAR~”

Lin Qi frowned. ’The creature’s horn blocked the force of my Big Gun, and its skull is so tough that I actually failed to shatter its head in one strike.’

’So this is a Second-Level Calamity Beast?’

’Its overall strength is so much greater than the Iron Spike Wild Boar, Mastiff Dog, and Shadow Cat. They’re on a completely different level.’

”ROAR~”

The Unihorned Black Pig shook its head hard, a vicious grin appearing in its eyes.

”GRR... GRR~”

The Unihorned Black Pig let out a series of roars!

”Brother Lin Qi, another one is coming!” Jiang Miaoyin reminded him with a frown as she helped Jiangtao up.

Lin Qi sensed danger from behind and whipped his head around to see a black figure charging toward them from a distance.

It was another Unihorned Black Pig. And most importantly, this one was even more powerfully built than the first.

When it came to Calamity Beasts, judging their strength was simple: you just had to look at their size.

The bigger and more robust the beast, the stronger it was.

The second Unihorned Black Pig rapidly closed in, its terrifying aura gradually intensifying.

The two Second-Level Calamity Beasts, the Unihorned Black Pigs, had Lin Qi surrounded.

Hiding in the back kitchen, Fang Huiyi clutched a towel tightly in her hands and said worriedly, ”Two Unihorned Black Pigs... those are both Second-Level Calamity Beasts. Little Qi is in danger.”

Lin Zhen comforted her, ”It’s okay. Little Qi is a true genius. He’ll be fine.”

Although he said it was okay, he was panicking inside. ’Those are two Unihorned Black Pigs! And from the looks of the second one, it’s a strong one even among Second-Level Calamity Beasts.’

’My son doesn’t have much experience with killing. The fact that he’s held on this long is already astonishing.’

”Haha, bullying a student from my No. 2 Middle School? Li Zhou won’t stand for that.”

A voice came from nearby.

A burly figure charged out from not far away.

Lin Qi was startled when he saw the newcomer. It was Li Zhou, the top-ranked student in their grade. He was bare-chested, revealing his powerful pectoral muscles and the bloody claw marks on his chest.

He wielded a blood-stained fire axe, radiating a wild aura as he broke into a savage grin.

And so, with the hot pot restaurant as the center, its front and back entrances were now blown wide open, with a Unihorned Black Pig on each side.

The atmosphere grew tense, and a strange silence fell over the scene.

”Lin Qi, I’m the strongest, so I’ll take this Unihorned Black Pig.”

Li Zhou was the first to speak.

Having said his piece, he saw the Unihorned Black Pig charge and immediately rushed out as well, swinging his War Axe in a downward chop.

Lin Qi didn’t refuse. He swung his Long Spear and attacked the Unihorned Black Pig that was about to launch a sneak attack.

’I never would have thought that the top three students of No. 2 Middle School’s grade would meet here and end up fighting side-by-side.’

”GRR... GRR~”

The Unihorned Black Pig charged like a heavy armored vehicle at full speed, its horn like a sharp blade piercing through the air.

Lin Qi was as nimble as an Ape, quickly dodging to the side.

”BOOM!!”

With a tremendous crash, the Unihorned Black Pig charged into the hot pot restaurant and slammed heavily into the cashier’s counter. The wooden countertop instantly shattered, and the drinks and computer all crashed to the floor, becoming a pile of trash.

After dodging aside, Lin Qi swung his Big Gun and shot forward, his legs suddenly exploding with power.

”You beast, die!!”

Lin Qi put his strength into it, aiming his Big Gun at the Unihorned Black Pig’s neck and delivering several consecutive thrusts.

Cloud Picking!

”WHOOSH~”

Just as the Long Spear was about to hit, an iron whip suddenly lashed out.

”CLANG CLANG~~”

Lin Qi saw that it was the Unihorned Black Pig’s tail. The beast then turned and charged ferociously at Lin Qi once again.
