High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 75: Chapter 75: The Third Killing Technique—Rock-Bursting Drill

December 31st, the last day of 2045.

RING RING RING!

”Class dismissed!”

Yan Hong turned off the projector, grabbed her teaching materials, and left.

The students of the Elite Class also began to pack their things and go their separate ways.

”It’s New Year’s Eve tonight. We can finally get a good night’s rest.”

”I’ve made plans with my friends. We’re going to Wanda Plaza to eat hot pot and celebrate the new year together.”

Everyone was discussing their plans for the evening.

”Brother Qi, what are your plans for New Year’s Eve?” Jiangtao asked curiously.

Lin Qi replied as he packed up his textbooks, ”I’ll go home for dinner first, then come back here to continue my training. Even if it’s a one-night holiday, I can’t let my Martial Arts training slide.”

Jiangtao was astonished. ”Seriously, Brother Qi? You’re taking the grind way too far.”

Then he shook his head. ”Anyway, I have to get back and spend time with Amiao!”

With that, the two of them left the school together, riding their bikes home.

「Fifteen minutes later」

CLICK!

Lin Qi turned the handle and opened the door to his home. The moment he stepped inside, a rich, fragrant aroma washed over him.

The air was thick with the choking smell of cooking fumes—the very scent of a lively, home-cooked meal that he cherished.

From the kitchen, his mom, Fang Huiyi, emerged wearing an apron and carrying a large, steaming bowl of Boiled Live Fish.

The dining table was already covered with a spread of sumptuous dishes.

”Little Qi is back. We made all your favorites,” Lin Zhen said with a smile, also emerging with a bowl of rice.

Lin Qi sat down. On the table were stir-fried pork with green peppers, shredded potatoes, braised eggplant, spicy cabbage, spicy chicken, and the Boiled Live Fish.

They were indeed all of Lin Qi’s favorites; he loved spicy food.

His family was originally from Shu Province, but both his paternal and maternal grandparents had come to Cang Province to work when they were young.

”Go on and eat, Little Qi. You rarely get to come home, so don’t work yourself too hard,” Fang Huiyi said caringly as she put some food on his plate.

Lin Qi nodded, picked up his large bowl filled with rice, and began to dig in heartily.

Watching Lin Qi eat, both Lin Zhen and Fang Huiyi smiled.

Half an hour later, night had completely fallen over Celestial Sea City.

”I’m heading back to school to train!”

After dinner, Lin Qi stood up and gathered his things, preparing to return to school.

Lin Zhen started to say something, but Fang Huiyi stopped him by tugging on his sleeve.

”Mom, after this final assessment, I will definitely get an A-level Contract!”

Lin Qi said suddenly, looking at his parents who were clearing the table.

”Go on, then. We believe in you!” Lin Zhen said with a smile, patting Lin Qi’s shoulder.

「A few minutes later」

Lin Zhen and Fang Huiyi watched through the window. In the dim night, the orange glow of a streetlight illuminated Lin Qi’s figure as he rode his bike and disappeared from sight, leaving only a long shadow behind.

...

No. 2 Middle School, main gate.

The guard watched Lin Qi’s figure enter the school and remarked with a sigh:

”Isn’t that Lin Qi, one of the top ten in his year? It’s New Year’s Eve, and he’s still coming to school to train. So diligent.”

”If I had worked that hard when I was young, I wouldn’t have ended up as a security guard.”

...

Lin Qi walked through the empty school. Among the few academic buildings, only a handful of classrooms had their lights on.

Lin Qi entered his Martial Arts Room and, as usual, changed into his Martial Arts Uniform, took an Energy Potion, and slathered his entire body with Red Blood Ointment.

This time, he used double the usual amount of Red Blood Ointment. He had already used up last month’s four vials long ago.

The second batch of resources had arrived a few days ago. Although there was no Blue Marrow Potion, the amount of Red Blood Ointment had been doubled.

This allowed Lin Qi to have enough for four training sessions a day.

HUFF...

Feeling the familiar heat radiating from his body, Lin Qi took a deep breath and grabbed the Training Lance with one hand.

’It’s lighter!’

’As my strength increases, an eight or nine-pound long spear is too light for me now. I need a heavier one.’

Lin Qi thought to himself. He decided that after the final assessment, he would buy a new, heavy-duty long spear to aid his training.

WHOOSH...

As his body heated up, he began to brandish the long spear.

A cold light glinted as afterimages of the spear flickered. The tip quivered, thrusting through the air again and again.

SWISH! SWISH!

Lin Qi frantically executed the Drip Water Spear Skill. Each of its techniques was like a nimble drop of water, displaying immense power through an interweaving of speed and skill.

’Almost there!’

Lin Qi continued to wield his spear technique, his expression resolute as his mind raced.

Yesterday in the Red Realm Arena, starting with Guo Heng, he had been matched against many powerful opponents.

He had used the Drip Water Spear Skill against them, gaining a much deeper understanding of this spear technique that was as swift as the wind.

This was especially true for one of its techniques—the Water Vortex Spin!

The way he exerted force for this technique felt very similar to the third killing technique of the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique.

Practicing it again now, the feeling was even more distinct, giving him new insights.

Lin Qi practiced this one technique over and over.

After practicing it dozens of times, he felt an idea brewing in his mind and abruptly switched spear techniques.

He switched to the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique, starting from the first form, moving from one technique to the next, all the way to the two killing techniques.

The heat coursing through his body was agonizing, making him feel like he was on fire, yet he was filled with boundless motivation.

His mind was exceptionally stimulated, as if something was about to burst forth.

He practiced the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique relentlessly.

Outside the Martial Arts Room, the air was frigid, but inside, plumes of white steam rose from his body.

The only sound in the air was the whistling of his spear.

The quiet environment allowed Lin Qi to become completely immersed in his spear technique.

He didn’t know how many times he had practiced the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique. Ten times? Fifty? A hundred?

Finally, in a single instant, a tremor ran through him. It was like a volcano erupting, spewing magma as inspiration poured out.

BOOM!

Lin Qi’s eyes flew open, a sharp glint flashing within them.

He executed the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique again, but this time, there was a slight change in the way he generated force.

He channeled power through his wrist, letting the force gather there. His body remained still as he charged the energy for a second before unleashing it.

Lin Qi channeled his strength, and it converged at the spear’s tip like an erupting volcano. The surrounding air seemed to compress until it was tangible.

The tip of the spear was like an enraged dragon boring into the earth. The shaft vibrated violently, letting out a series of sharp whistles.

CHIIII—

As the spear tip thrust forward, there was the faint sound of shattering rock—the sound of the air itself being torn apart.

The long spear thrust out as if it could pierce the hardest bedrock. The force of the attack was enough to shatter a mountain, utterly tyrannical.

It seemed that any obstacle in its path would be drilled into dust.

The third killing technique—Rock-Bursting Drill!

BOOM!

Lin Qi unleashed all his immense strength along with the killing technique.

[Through arduous training, you have endured pain. Your Qi and Blood Value has increased. Qi and Blood Value +0.02]

[In your arduous training, you have mastered the third killing technique of the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique. Your spear technique mastery has greatly increased. Spear Technique +3%]

[You have mastered the third killing technique. Body Technique +1%]

[Qi and Blood Value: 9.72 → 9.74]

[Spear Technique: Tier Two 8% → 11%]

[Body Technique: Tier One 99% → Tier Two 1%]

...

HUFF...

Lin Qi let out a long breath. His entire body was soaked in sweat, as if he had been submerged in a pool of it.

After he stopped, the intense heat in his body faded, and the effects of the Red Blood Ointment wore off.

Waves of uncontrollable exhaustion washed over him, but his eyes were sparkling with vigor.

”I finally... mastered it!!”

A sense of accomplishment filled Lin Qi’s heart as he tightened his grip on the long spear.

The third killing technique, Rock-Bursting Drill, possessed unparalleled power.

It was stronger than any other technique he had ever practiced.

He had no doubt that if he faced Guo Heng and used this third killing technique, he could kill him head-on with a single thrust!

This was the essence of the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique, its strongest and most skillful move.

After the excitement passed, he picked up his sports drinks and downed three large bottles in one go.

He checked his status panel again. His Spear Technique Realm had improved by a large margin, breaking through to 11% of Tier Two.

This level placed him at the very top of his class.

The corners of Lin Qi’s mouth turned up.

...

「A few minutes later」

DING-DONG~

The doorbell to the Martial Arts Room rang. Lin Qi opened it to see...

”Brother Qi, surprise!”

Jiangtao stood at the door, the bright white light illuminating his brilliant smile.

”Brother Qi!”

Beside him, a beautiful figure with small, delicate features—Jiang Miaoyin—waved her hand charmingly.

”Taozi, Amiao, what are you guys doing here?”

Lin Qi was puzzled.
