High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: You Don’t Understand Brother Qi’s Power

”You’re too slow!”

Qiu Jie brandished his long spear, his figure nimble, like a wisp of green smoke. In an instant, he appeared before Lin Qi.

He was about 1.85 meters tall, with a wind-like aura. His muscles, taut and flexible, seemed forged from refined iron, cutting down air resistance as he moved.

Even Lin Qi had to admit that Qiu Jie was indeed fast.

In the next moment, the long spear in Qiu Jie’s hand shot out, slicing through the air as swift as the wind.

”SWISH SWISH~”

The spear’s afterimages flickered like a sudden, violent squall.

Drip Water Spear Skill, First Form: Water Line Rapid Stab!

His spear shot forward like a straight line of water, thrusting viciously toward Lin Qi’s eyes.

A direct hit would most likely end the fight instantly.

At the same time, Lin Qi also attacked with his spear. Power surged through his arm as the spear’s shaft trembled and spun, drawing a circle in the air.

Vortex Break!

In a flash, the long spears clashed. Power erupted as sharp force sought to tear the other apart.

”CLANG~”

Sparks flew as the long spears collided, the force of the impact traveling up both their arms.

Both took a step back, then pushed off the ground and charged forward again.

Suddenly, Qiu Jie exploded with speed, his velocity increasing dramatically. He unleashed a sky full of spear afterimages in front of Lin Qi, catching him off guard and making it impossible to tell which was real.

Each thrust was as firm and swift as water dripping through stone, carrying an indomitable momentum.

”CLANG CLANG~”

Feeling the ferocity of his opponent’s spear technique, Lin Qi chose to weave his own spear into a defensive circle to evade.

...

In the Virtual Room, all 49 students of the class were watching the live broadcast of the fight, many of them discussing it in low voices.

”Who do you think will win between Lin Qi and Qiu Jie?” someone asked quietly.

”Theoretically, based on rankings, Qiu Jie is tenth in the grade and Lin Qi is eighteenth. That’s a pretty big gap. It’s unlikely Lin Qi is a match for Qiu Jie.”

”There are no limits on their Qi and Blood Values. Lin Qi doesn’t have an advantage in either Qi and Blood Value or spear technique. I think Qiu Jie will probably win in the end.”

Someone offered a rational analysis, and many others nodded in agreement.

”I think that since Lin Qi earned Teacher Zhang’s approval, he might be stronger than we imagine. He won’t necessarily lose.”

But others held a different opinion.

”I, for one, don’t think Lin Qi can win. Everyone knows Teacher Zhang has a soft spot for him and gives him extra pointers. Maybe this is just him abusing his authority for personal gain.”

”If Lin Qi loses, I want to see how he’s going to save face,” someone said with schadenfreude.

”What the hell are you laughing at?”

”You guys don’t understand how strong Brother Qi is!” Jiangtao retorted with a cold snort.

Not far away, Zhang City also heard the discussion. His eyes were fixed on the live broadcast, and as he watched Lin Qi, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.

Nearby, Yu Jing watched the broadcast and said, ”Lin Qi is doomed to lose.”

”Don’t jump to conclusions so early,” Qi Yuelin retorted.

Li Zhou didn’t speak. He just frowned at the broadcast. Facing Qiu Jie’s storm-like assault, Lin Qi seemed to be doing nothing but dodging with his spear.

It looked as if Lin Qi really was no match for him, but the martial arts education Li Zhou had received since childhood told him this fight wasn’t that simple.

...

Red Realm Arena

”CLANG CLANG~~”

”Dodge, dodge, dodge! Is that all you know how to do?”

”As a man, don’t you even have the courage to face me head-on?”

Qiu Jie frantically swung his long spear, its afterimages a blur, like a torrential downpour. He stabbed out wildly, clashing with Lin Qi.

Every tremor and swing of the spear tip was as swift as a raging storm, leaving spectators breathless.

All the while, he hurled taunts during the fight, venting his emotions.

In an instant, his spear technique became like a plunging waterfall. The spear’s momentum was fierce as he thrust out with astonishing speed.

Waterfall Impact!

”CLANG~”

Lin Qi’s gaze sharpened as he swung his big gun horizontally. Power surged through his arm as the long spears collided again. A tyrannical force traveled up his arm, making him stumble back several steps.

He watched Qiu Jie, his expression blank, unaffected by his opponent’s words.

Qiu Jie practiced the Drip Water Spear Skill. This spear technique was as swift as the wind, focusing on ultimate speed. When executed, it evoked the explosive and sustained power of water droplets piercing stone and gathering into a river.

’Qiu Jie’s Qi and Blood Value is higher than mine, probably over 9.0. He’s a bit faster than me, but his strength is about the same as mine.’

Lin Qi analyzed inwardly. His body’s natural talent had undergone a transformation, and his fist power now exceeded what his Qi and Blood Value would suggest.

Just like how Li Zhou’s fist power surpassed the First Realm, but his Qi and Blood Value was only 9.8.

”Huuu~”

Lin Qi looked at Qiu Jie, his aura shifting as a sharp glint seemed to flash in his eyes.

”We’ve been at this long enough. It’s my turn now.”

With that, Lin Qi’s figure flashed and he shot forward. His body unfurled as power surged endlessly from his spine.

A fierce and domineering aura erupted from him. He thrust his long spear, and it was as if mountains were cracking apart.

”You think you’re worthy?”

Qiu Jie sneered and charged out again like a bolt of lightning. His long spear cut through the air as he put force into his arm, unleashing several thrusts in an instant, the sharp wind tearing at the air.

Splashing Water!

”CLANG CLANG~~”

The two clashed again, the force from the long spears transferring to their arms.

The moment they collided, Qiu Jie’s expression changed. He felt a terrifying power transmit into his arms, his muscles aching and going numb.

’How is this possible? Lin Qi’s strength is actually greater than mine?’ Qiu Jie was shocked.

’I don’t believe it!’

His mind was in chaos. He poured all his strength into his long spear, which trembled rapidly, like scattered raindrops.

Falling Rain!

Countless spear afterimages enveloped Lin Qi. Previously, when faced with this move, Lin Qi had been unable to block it and could only defend passively.

But in Lin Qi’s eyes, he could now clearly see Qiu Jie’s every move, precisely perceiving the flaw.

The image of Qiu Jie’s next technique appeared in his mind, and he thought of several ways to counter it.

In the next second, Lin Qi swung his long spear. He executed a Horizontal Block, precisely finding the one real spear among the illusions and breaking the attack.

”CLANG~”

The long spears clashed. Qiu Jie was forced back, his assault faltering. Having been blocked, the speed of his spear technique instantly slowed.

”What!”

Qiu Jie was horrified. ’He blocked my move so easily?’

”No matter how fast your spear technique is, it’s useless!”

”I’ve seen right through you!”

Lin Qi said coldly.

”You’re courting death!”

Qiu Jie grew furious from the humiliation. ”I have a Killing Technique! I’ll finish you in one move.”

In the next second, his body erupted. Qi Blood surged through him, connecting his body to channel power into his long spear. He brought out his ultimate skill, the spear tip slashing through the air at extreme speed.

Killing Technique—Traceless Drip!

The speed of his Killing Technique reached its absolute peak, the cold glint of the spear tip already arriving.

But the corner of Lin Qi’s mouth curled up slightly, as if he had anticipated this all along. In an instant, his gun technique had already changed.

His wrist suddenly exerted force, his vertebrae stacking up one by one. Qi Blood carried power to the muscles of his arm, and the force erupted like a burning flame.

Lin Qi controlled this power steadily, channeling it through to his fingers, and thrust out.

Mountain Shattering Spear Technique—Beng Ci!

An ordinary technique versus a Killing Technique!

Both techniques were executed simultaneously in a single instant, but Qiu Jie felt an intense danger envelop him, filling him with terror.

”PFFT~”

In the next moment, the two big guns brushed past each other. Qiu Jie felt a sharp, intense pain.

”BANG!”

A massive force struck Qiu Jie’s body, sending him flying uncontrollably before he slammed heavily onto the ground.

”You’ve lost!”

Lin Qi stated emotionlessly. His current aura was one of pure slaughter, like a man-eating tiger.

”In my eyes, your spear technique is full of openings. Even if we fought ten more times, you could never win.”

”You really are just a clown!”

”You...”

[Battle over. You are dead!]

Qiu Jie was so angry he could have coughed up blood, but in the next moment, he dissolved into the void and vanished from the arena.

...

「Outside the screen.」

Silence!!

For a moment, the Virtual Room fell silent, but then an uproar erupted among the crowd.

”Holy crap, am I seeing things?!”

”Lin Qi actually won! He killed Qiu Jie in one move and turned defeat into victory!!” Kang Feiyue exclaimed in disbelief.

Was this the same Master of Basic Skills he knew? How could he be so powerful?

The others were also in disbelief.

Yu Jing’s face was grim. He had actually misjudged. Lin Qi had really won. It seemed his former classmate was getting closer and closer to his level.

Qi Yuelin grew even more curious about Lin Qi.

”What an unexpected duel. Interesting.”

Li Zhou grinned. He had seen more than the others; Qiu Jie had been doomed to lose from the very beginning.

Watching from a corner, Chen Zichuan was stunned. He never imagined Lin Qi was this strong.

”Brother Qi is awesome!”

”I knew Qiu Jie could never beat Brother Qi.”

”And to think he looked down on my Brother Qi. He was just asking for a beating.”

Jiangtao burst into laughter. He was the happiest person in the entire class.

Meanwhile, Qiu Jie, who had just exited the Virtual Cabin, heard Jiangtao’s words and his face grew even darker.
