High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: On the Battlefield, You’re Already Dead

”I will act as the referee and witness.”

”This is a battle with 50,000 Xia Country Coins on the line!” Zhang City announced loudly.

”Now, students, take up your weapons!”

”We’re in for a good show!”

The crowd of spectators waited eagerly, ready for the drama to unfold.

”Who do you guys think will win?” someone suddenly asked.

”Hard to say. Lin Qi and Yang Lei’s grade rankings are extremely close, so their strength is probably about the same.”

”It’ll probably be another evenly matched fight.”

”Yue Lin, who do you think will win?”

In a corner, two girls were gathered together. Both were exceptionally beautiful.

One of them was tall and slender with delicate features—Qi Yuelin, who was known as the Sword Sparrow.

In response to her friend’s question, she shook her head. ”I can’t tell.”

Her friend was also beautiful, with lovely big eyes and a curvaceous figure. It was none other than Lin Qi’s former classmate, Zhu Yuqi.

Currently ranked fifth in their grade at No. 2 Middle School, she offered her own opinion:

”I think Yang Lei might win.”

”Lin Qi has the best academic scores among us Martial Arts Students.”

”His Martial Arts strength probably isn’t that great.”

Qi Yuelin nodded. ”That makes sense!”

”Brother Qi, I know you can do it! Teach Yang Lei a good lesson and get some payback.”

As Lin Qi took down his Training Lance, Jiangtao cheered him on from the side.

”Don’t worry. He’s guaranteed to lose!”

Lin Qi said in a low voice, and Jiangtao shivered, feeling an inexplicable chill run down his spine.

In the center of the open space, Yang Lei held his Long Spear, facing off against Lin Qi. Both of them were spear practitioners.

The Martial Arts Classroom fell silent, the only sound being that of breathing.

Yang Lei stared at Lin Qi, thinking to himself:

’This guy Lin Qi... he doesn’t have the build for it, but he insists on practicing the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique. He’s practically asking to die!’

’Today, I’ll teach you how a Spear Technique is supposed to be practiced.’

With that thought, he glanced over at Zhang City.

’I’ll prove that I’m the greater Talent.’

Zhang City watched the two of them, his heart filled with anticipation for the fight.

’Lin Qi, let me see your true strength!’

After a few seconds, he announced loudly:

”The battle begins!”

”HAH!”

Yang Lei let out a great shout. Power surged through his arms as he shot forward like an arrow, his Long Spear brandished fiercely.

He executed his Spear Technique, the tip of his spear flashing with a cold light.

He thrust out continuously at an incredible speed!

In the crowd, Jiangtao thought, ’This is bad.’ Yang Lei had struck first, seizing the initiative.

Lin Qi’s expression was as calm as ever. He was all too familiar with the Spear Technique Yang Lei was using. Just like him, Yang Lei had learned the fierce and domineering Mountain Shattering Spear Technique.

Yang Lei swung his Long Spear, delivering several strikes in an instant.

Cloud Picking!

Lin Qi’s eyes narrowed. The trajectory of the Spear Technique appeared in his mind’s eye as he pushed off with his feet and began to move.

’Left side!’

He quickly shifted his head a centimeter to the right, and the Long Spear grazed past his shoulder.

Horizontal Cut!

He instantly ducked, dodging the attack again.

Spin!

Lin Qi shifted his feet, taking a single step to evade once more. He had successfully dodged Yang Lei’s attacks three times in a row.

”What?”

”How is that possible?”

Many of the spectators’ expressions changed. Yang Lei was stunned. ’How is this possible?’ Lin Qi had actually dodged his continuous assault, and he’d been using his full strength.

”I don’t believe it!”

Yang Lei launched another fierce attack, his arms bulging with power and muscles rippling across his body.

He was nearly 1.95 meters tall, a big and sturdy man, powerfully built. As he exerted his strength, veins popped on his skin, his blood flow accelerated, and his entire face flushed red.

He looked like a great bear emerging from its cave.

His entire presence exploded forth. He swung his Big Gun, which carried a ferocious momentum, and suddenly erupted with power.

He thrust the Long Spear forward with immense force.

Beng Ci!

Seeing this, Lin Qi finally brandished his own Long Spear, also using the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique.

He was seen mobilizing the power of his body’s major muscle groups, exerting force in an instant. The spear’s shaft trembled with a low hum. The next moment, the Long Spear shot out, its tip drawing a circle.

Vortex Break!

Accompanied by a whistling wind, their Long Spears clashed in mid-air.

”CLANG CLANG CLANG~~”

Power transferred between the two spears.

In Jiangtao’s eyes, Lin Qi’s build compared to Yang Lei’s was like a wolf facing a tiger—a full size smaller. Yet, he was effortlessly parrying Yang Lei’s spear strikes.

An intangible aura also erupted from Lin Qi’s body.

”CLANG CLANG CLANG~~”

”Too slow! You’re too slow!”

”At this speed, how are you ever going to hunt Calamity Beasts on the battlefield?”

Lin Qi taunted him, raising his hand to swing his Big Gun. In his eyes, Yang Lei’s Techniques held no secrets; he had seen through them completely.

’His Spear Technique is only equivalent to 70% of Tier One,’

’while mine has already broken through 80% of Tier One. The gap is too wide.’

”Shut up!”

Yang Lei felt a fire of rage burning inside him and completely unleashed all his strength.

He thrust his Long Spear forward violently.

Rapid Advance!

”Good!”

Lin Qi also suddenly exerted his power. His blood quickened, Qi and Blood surged, his spine straightened link by link like a great dragon, and his major muscle groups gathered their force.

He swung his Long Spear with overwhelming momentum.

He raised his Big Gun high and brought it down in a Heavy Slash, kicking up a howling gale.

When Yang Lei saw this, he felt as if he were facing a colossal, collapsing mountain. An involuntary surge of fear washed over him.

The fifth form of the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique—Sky Jumping!

”CLANG~~~”

With a tremendous noise, the two Long Spears collided. Their shafts bent as immense power clashed between them.

”BANG!”

”Ah!”

Yang Lei’s face changed drastically. A terrifying force traveled into his arms, making them go numb. He couldn’t even hold his Long Spear steady.

”BANG!”

Lin Qi flipped his body, concentrating all his strength into his arms. Veins bulged on his skin like intertwined steel bars as he swung the Long Spear with tremendous force, drawing a circle.

Basic Spear Skill—Beng Gun!

Yang Lei’s Long Spear was instantly knocked from his hands, sent flying away. He couldn’t stop his body from stumbling backward until he fell and sat down hard on the padded mat.

”SWISH!”

Lin Qi thrust his Long Spear forward, stopping just a centimeter from Yang Lei’s neck.

”Don’t move!”

Yang Lei stared at the spear tip so close to him. Even though it wasn’t sharpened, the cold killing intent it radiated kept him from daring to move.

”On a real battlefield, you would already be dead,” Lin Qi said, his voice cold and indifferent as he looked down on him.

”I...”

Yang Lei looked up at Lin Qi, his body trembling uncontrollably. Anger, shame, unwillingness, and fear all mixed into one.

In his eyes, Lin Qi was like a tiger released from its cage, baring its fangs and ready to hunt, causing his body to tremble uncontrollably.

...

”I declare Lin Qi the winner!” Zhang City announced the final result loudly.

After speaking, he looked at Lin Qi with a gratified expression:

’This kid, Lin Qi... he has high Comprehension. He remained calm throughout his first real combat and completely unleashed the power of the Mountain Shattering Spear Technique.’

’He possesses extremely strong Psychological Quality and Combat Talent. I’m really starting to like him more and more.’

...

”He won! Haha, I knew it.”

Jiangtao was the first to burst out laughing, pointing at Yang Lei and laying into him:

”Whether it’s Qi and Blood Value, Fist Power, or speed, you’re no match for Lin Qi, Yang Lei.”

”And don’t even get me started on your Spear Technique! You were completely dominated. You’re not his opponent in any aspect.”

”So who’s the one just making up the numbers now?”

”See the difference now? Hurry up and transfer the money to Brother Qi.”

After Jiangtao finished, the others also broke into discussion, many of them shocked.

”This Lin Qi is really strong! He crushed Yang Lei on all fronts. He’s not to be underestimated,” someone exclaimed.

”I really underestimated him. How did I never realize Lin Qi was this amazing before?”

Kang Feiyue watched Lin Qi in amazement, feeling as if he were looking at a stranger.

The old Lin Qi was a quiet and reserved person, but the domineering, tiger-like Lin Qi in battle now was hard to associate with his former self.

”Damn, that guy Yang Lei is so lame. He actually lost,” Zhu Yuqi said, quite surprised.

Qi Yuelin looked at Lin Qi with a curious expression, but that was all.

She was third in the grade. In her eyes, Lin Qi’s Qi and Blood Value and Spear Technique weren’t even worth mentioning.

If it were her, she had countless ways to defeat Lin Qi with ease.
