ELEVEN YEARS AGO...

ORION’S POV

At the ripe age of thirteen, there are many regulars in Orion’s life. The eyes of the mediocrity on him. The constant maddening itch in his brain that only eases when he flips out.

And there is him. His stalker.

Orion is in his final year of middle school, and the itch in his brain just keeps getting worse. He strides through the halls of the school, feeling and letting the gazes of his schoolmates wash over him.

They’re all unimportant. Every last one of them.

He wouldn’t exactly say that he has a superiority complex, but he can’t help but look at each and every one of these people and think of them as mediocre.

Like pigs in a pen unable to see anything above the fence. They’ll never be on the same level as he is.

”Orion!” He strides past the female student calling out to him. He knows her name and her face, but when he tries to recall it, he comes up blank.

Is there any worth in remembering the name of a nuisance?

Louise would be by his side, sneering at the members of the student body, but he sent her off under some pretext of being tired. Or maybe he scared her off.

He’s really not in the mood to care about the finer details, besides, they’re not yet dating. He’s just keeping her at his side for now.

Maybe he’ll end up leashing the crow. Who knows?

Even as he picks up the pace, going god-knows-where, he can still feel the searing gaze of his stalker at the back of his neck.

It prickles his skin.

He takes a sharp turn, facing the stairwell, then begins his ascent up the stairs. Away from prying eyes. Well, all the prying eyes except his very persistent stalker.

The itch in his brain gets worse and worse. He lets out a string of filthy curses and begins taking the steps two at a time.

”Uh Orion, about last week...”

He’s in a different section of the school, yet he’s being held up by another nuisance. He takes a look at the brown-haired boy standing before him, then pushes past him to continue his ascent.

”Wait! I need to speak to you!”

The hand on his forearm pulling him back should not surprise him as much as it does. Nuisances never know their place after all.

”Let go.” He bites out through gritted teeth.

The itch is turning out to be a full-blown migraine now. He doesn’t have the time nor the patience for whatever bullshit this little boy has to talk about.

He has a date...with his stalker. One that might end up with only one of them leaving alive.

”I will, but you have to hear me out first.” The boy responds stubbornly, his grip on Orion’s forearm pathetically tight.

Orion’s mind goes blank for one dangerous second. In the next, he’s turning to face the little nuisance, eyes darkening with something so predatory, it has the little shit taking his hand off his arm and going down two steps.

”I have to hear you out first? Me?” His voice deepens with dark amusement. ”You believe you can tell me what to do?”

The itch eases, and suddenly, Orion understands.

Oh.

The itch craves violence. It craves something deeper, something darker than anything he had already done. Something to silence the madness in his mind.

He wonders if the little nuisance could afford two lives.

”I-I didn’t mean it that way,” he stammers, angling his face away from Orion’s predatory smile. ”I just really need to speak with you. Please don’t be angry.”

He’s not. Orion truly isn’t angry.

He tilts his head slightly, trying to recall the personal information of this particularly unimportant creature. It takes him a while, but he ends up remembering.

”I r-really didn’t mean to offend you, Orion,” his voice trembles with each word. ”Please don’t be angry. I beg you.”

During the time he spent thinking, the little nuisance had begun to visibly sweat. It’s revolting to watch...but somehow still amusing.

”It’s fine. I’m not angry at you...Timothy.”

Now that he truly remembers his name, Orion has an idea of why this nuisance took his time to search him out and disturb him.

”Oh. Thank you.” He breathes out, relieved.

In response to that, Orion says nothing. He lets the silence drag out, waiting for the nuisance to gather the guts to speak about what he wants. It’s a grueling five-minute wait.

This time, he isn’t surprised when the brown-haired kid bows low to him, with his fists straight at his sides. He isn’t surprised, but he’s definitely annoyed. Still, he waits for him to speak.

”I-I’m aware that my sister must have offended you, but please I beg you to forgive her! If you give her a chance, she’ll be able to apologize to you herself! So, please just give her a chance to do it.”

Orion knows what the brown-haired boy is chattering about. His sister is probably the girl with the same shade of hair who asked him to be her date to their last dinner in person.

She did make an impression, but he wasn’t interested. Lately, his interests have shifted towards other pressing matters. Like his stalker who is still listening in on this conversation.

”But what do I do, Timothy?” He croons playfully. ”I’m not even mad at your sister, so this is quite jarring to me.”

He truly isn’t, but the way his stalker’s killing intent spikes at his performance makes his grin widen. That shifty bastard definitely hates him more than anything.

Once again, he feels that familiar irritation at Timothy’s flare for interrupting his date.

”You’re not?” Timothy asks, straightening up cautiously to take in Orion’s face.

”Of course not,” he chuckles lightly. ”Her asking me out in person made me feel like a Princess, you know? It made me remember how absolutely alluring I must be to common folk like the rest of you.”

No, he does not have a superiority complex. Calling himself anything but alluring would be a lie, and Orion Vassilis does not lie.

”Huh?” Timothy blinks up at him in confusion. ”I don’t get it. If you’re not mad at my sister then why is she being bullied? Why is she being isolated in school?”

”That is for you to find out, and for me to not give a shit. Why bother asking me that? Just because I’m better than you peasants doesn’t mean I have to think for you.” He shrugs indifferently.

The killing intent he’s been feeling from his date grows from a flickering flame to a roaring blaze. He can feel just how much this person loathes his existence.

A shudder of excitement wracks through his body.

Already done with the conversation, he turns to continue his ascent up the stairs, but out of his peripheral vision, he sees Timothy reaching for his arm again.

”Please wait! I still have something to ask you!”

This time, Orion is suffering from the itch, and he’s not in the mood to play with the nuisance again. Timothy’s hand barely brushes the hem of his sleeves before the smaller boy is sent flying.

He crashes against the wall, falling off seven steps. He lands on the floor with a groan of pain, shaking off the immediate shock just to see Orion’s shoe pointed at him.

He kicked him away from him.

”I’m not really sure what your problem is, but if you touch me again, I’ll do you a favour and separate both your wrists from your body.” He scoffs, looking down at Timothy coldly.

He only let him grab his arm the first time because...well...he doesn’t really know. But the mood is gone now. The little nuisance should at least be able to read the room.

”P-please,” the boy stammers, pulling himself up to his feet. ”My sister isn’t doing well. I-I can’t let anything happen to her. If you help me, I’ll owe you a favour.”

Orion can’t help it, he snorts. ”And what can you do for me?”

The boy rises to his feet, eyes bright with resolve. ”Anything! I can do anything for you if you help me just this once! Please!”

”Okay then.” Damn it. He wanted to say no. Well, not even he can predict himself. ”I won’t help you outright, but I’ll tell you who’s doing this to your sister.”

”It’s...” Timothy leans in, eyes eager with hope, just for Orion to let out another amused snort.

”Figure it out yourself, dear Timothy. Even if I harvested all your organs and sold them, the favour you’d owe still wouldn’t be worth shit to me.”

Ah. His date’s killing intent just soared again. At this point, he wouldn’t even have the time to prepare the venue for their meeting. He can’t meet him now, it would be a disaster.

He’ll have to wait till his excitement has gone down a bit even if he has to wait after graduation, but even then, it still won’t matter. His stalker will always be with him.

Because Adrien Dubois, will always school with Louise Dubois.
