No matter what, the two Elders in charge of the formation should not have failed to notice anything. Besides, this time they lost a Dou Zun Elder and several inner disciples with the potential to become Elders in the future.

Someone had to take responsibility for this. Those two Elders, no matter how one looked at it, clearly bore a great deal of blame. Feeling the Acting Sect Master’s harsh scolding, the two Elders both felt deeply wronged.

Heavens knew that ever since Elder Qing Xian returned injured some days ago, she had warned them at the outer perimeter to be extremely cautious and to watch out for sneak attacks. Ever since then, they didn’t even dare blink.

Yet somehow, today a thief still slipped right in.

Earlier, the rest of you searched for the intruder too, didn’t you? You also found no clues. Why don’t you blame yourselves?

After a moment of silence, one of the Elders guarding the sect-protecting formation spoke: ”Acting Sect Master Hua Jin, could the intruder be that Lin Feng brat Elder Qing Xian mentioned before, coming to take revenge?”

Hearing this, the surrounding Flower Sect Elders all frowned, but their hearts agreed with the possibility.

As for Hua Jin, the Acting Sect Master, her eyebrows also furrowed. Inwardly, she cursed, ”That damned old woman… Why did you have to provoke a high-grade eighth-tier alchemist for no reason? And now I have to clean up your mess.”

”Everyone, once you return, tell your subordinates and disciples to stay alert. I will go see Elder Hua Ze later and ask her if she can strengthen the defenses around our sect again.”

After contemplating for a long time, Hua Jin could only wave helplessly and dismiss the gathered Elders. After all, facing this mysterious, ghost-like killer, she also had no good solution.

”Ah!”

But just as she finished speaking — before the Elders could even respond — a sharp, horrifying scream suddenly echoed through the flower sea in the distance.

”Quick, something must have happened over there. Let’s go!”

Hearing the scream, Hua Jin’s expression changed drastically. She immediately called the Elders to investigate. Then she activated her movement Dou Technique and shot rapidly toward the location of the scream.

The Elders all hurried after her.

But when they arrived at the source of the scream, they found nothing but scattered bloodstains. The killer and the victim were both long gone.

”Bastard! Who the hell are you?! If you have the guts, stop hiding and face us openly!”

Seeing the scene, Hua Jin’s face instantly turned dark. She glared up at the sky and cursed furiously.

The surrounding Elders also had ugly expressions. The enemy had just ambushed one Elder and four disciples earlier — and now immediately struck again. At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before the entire Flower Sect was living in constant fear.

If things continued like this, the sect would fall apart — people running off, people going insane. After all, who could stand living every day knowing they might be ambushed at any moment, no matter where they hid?

Meanwhile, hidden in the shadows, Zi Yan heard Hua Jin’s furious yelling and her eyes curved into bright crescents as she laughed.

”Hehe, of course I don’t have the guts for that. Only Lin Feng does.”

After collecting the loot from the bodies — a few storage rings — Zi Yan didn’t dare linger.

She turned and sprinted toward the outer edge of the Flower Sect. After all, there was a Ban Sheng expert in the sect. If she stayed any longer and that Ban Sheng arrived, she would be done for.

As for Hua Jin, who had cursed for half a day — when no enemy appeared no matter how she yelled — she could only grit her teeth in frustration, stop her shouting, and leave with the Elders.

However, from that day onward, the Flower Sect never again knew peace. Every morning when people woke up, a few disciples would always be missing. But the ones who suffered the most were the alchemists — specifically, the herbs they had painstakingly cultivated.

On the second night after the first attack, the mysterious intruder completely cleaned out the entire medicine fields. When the Flower Sect alchemists arrived at the herb mountains the next morning to harvest some ingredients, they discovered—

The several hills of carefully nurtured medicinal plants… not a single stalk remained. Everywhere they looked, all they saw was dull, barren black soil.

Not a trace of green.

Seeing that heartbreaking scene, the Flower Sect alchemists nearly stopped breathing on the spot. Several of them almost fainted right then and there. Of course, the most tragic victims were the disciples who had to leave the sect for various tasks.

Once they stepped out of the Flower Sect’s territory, almost none of them ever returned. At first, the Flower Sect’s upper ranks refused to believe it. They assigned two Dou Zun Elders to escort the disciples out.

The result? Still missing.

They tried again with three Dou Zun escorts. Still gone.

Finally, gritting their teeth, they sent four Dou Zun Elders — one of whom was a high-level Dou Zun.

The result? Needless to say — like throwing meat buns at a dragon. Gone.

After all, Zi Yan wasn’t stupid. She had already suffered once from Elder Qing Xian and knew the Flower Sect was strong.

So she contacted Xin Lan, who had also gained Small Pill Tower disciple status, and got a few Dou Zun-level Sky Demon Puppets from Cao Ying. Plus the puppets she already had from Xin Lan, Zi Yan now had eight in total.

With Zi Yan plus nine Dou Zun-level puppets, ganging up on four Flower Sect Dou Zun Elders was simply effortless. After killing a Dou Zun and taking the body, Zi Yan always traded the corpse with Xinlan for pills.

Naturally, the girl only grew more and more enthusiastic. In the end, she simply started farming the Flower Sect every day.

Whenever she saw a Dou Zong or stronger member, or any of the sect’s alchemists, she robbed them on sight — then escaped with their corpse and storage ring. She almost drove the Flower Sect upper ranks into early menopause.

Of course, during this time, the Flower Sect did try to come up with ways to catch the culprit. But every time they sent a disciple out as bait and secretly followed behind, the moment the culprit detected them, she simply ignored the bait and robbed other disciples instead.

After enough failed attempts, the Flower Sect leadership started to develop migraines. Believing the issue was internal, they launched massive internal investigations, searching for a spy helping the killer.

After a long round of frantic searching… they found nothing.

After all, how could they possibly know that the one ambushing them was a member of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan, skilled in space power?

Every time they followed a disciple as bait, they thought they were hiding perfectly. But to Zi Yan, who was extremely sensitive to spatial fluctuations, they were basically waving flags in broad daylight.

So of course she wouldn’t walk straight into their trap.

As Zi Yan’s attacks became more frequent, some Flower Sect disciples finally couldn’t endure anymore — they began to flee. After all, their companions were dying in their bedrooms, their baths, and their cultivation chambers— basically anywhere.

After a while, they were on the verge of breaking down.

Living under the shadow of an assassin every single day… it would be strange not to suffer mental collapse. In short, whoever wanted to stay in this hellhole could stay. As for them, they were done. They were leaving.
