Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 280: Chapter 197: Holding a Tea Party in the Secret Garden (4k)

”Sure.” Naoki nodded, ”As long as it’s built before winter arrives.”

His gaze turned towards the Butterfree and Combee not far away.

Keri followed his gaze and quickly guessed Naoki’s thoughts.

”Of course.” She smiled slightly, then waved goodbye to Naoki, ”Alright, it’s getting late, we should get going! See you later!”

Naoki: ”See you later!”

Just as Keri left, Zack drove up to the ranch in his truck.

Naoki loaded several large barrels of milk and some bags of Rock Salt onto the truck, looking at the truck bed full of golden large pumpkins, he said with a smile:

”Looks like today’s harvest is pretty good!”

Zack laughed heartily, ”Indeed! This autumn, all the crops in Porto Marinada Town are thriving! The weather has been favorable, without any natural disasters! It’s all thanks to the blessings of The King of Bountiful Harvests!”

Saying this, Zack suddenly turned mysterious:

”Hey, did you hear? The harvest in the neighboring town isn’t so good this year! Didn’t it pour for several days in the summer? Their fields got flooded!”

”It’s amazing, we’re only a few kilometers apart, yet the rainfall here wasn’t so heavy.”

Naoki: ”...”

He silently turned his head toward the Dragonair and Dragonite not far away, thinking of the legends that regard them as controllers of the weather. Could it be true?

Was it thanks to the presence of Dragonair and Dragonite that Porto Marinada Town wasn’t flooded?

Zack seemed to suddenly remember something, looking surprised, he asked, ”Could it also be The King of Bountiful Harvests protecting us?”

In Zack’s mind, it was Naoki who brought The King of Bountiful Harvests here, and everyone began to worship it with him. No one knew more about The King of Bountiful Harvests than Naoki.

Naoki politely smiled, ”Well... I’m not really sure, as I’ve never actually seen The King of Bountiful Harvests myself. I’ve only heard stories, and all I know is that it’s a very powerful Pokemon.”

”Alright.” Zack thought for a moment, feeling he shouldn’t keep this information to himself, ”No way, I have to ask the other farmers later!”

Go ahead! The King of Bountiful Harvests would surely appreciate you spreading the faith, after all, He can see this place, Naoki thought.

The King of Bountiful Harvests blesses the crops for a bountiful yield, while Dragonite and Dragonair ensure the ranch has favorable weather; they truly are a perfect farming duo!

Zack came and left in a hurry, saying he was going to tell the farmers in the neighboring town about their King of Bountiful Harvests, to see if The King of Bountiful Harvests might protect them too.

Watching his figure disappear into the distance, Naoki finally approached the lakeside, looking at the few Dragonair soaking in the water, he asked:

”Are you the ones ensuring favorable weather for the ranch?”

”Woo?”

The Dragonair appeared puzzled, seemingly not understanding what he was saying.

Naoki smiled and patted their heads, ”If everyone knew about this, they would be very grateful to you. Moreover, they might even bring you the crops and food they grow.”

Just like in stories where people worship Dragonair by continuously offering tributes into the lake where they reside.

The Dragonair didn’t seem to comprehend, as they hadn’t done anything.

”Well.” Naoki pondered for a moment, speculating to himself: Maybe it’s because of the special aura radiating from the five Dragonairs and the three Dragonites gathered together?

Could those auras be affecting the nearby weather...

Just like in the anime, the Dragon’s Holy Sanctuary of the Dragon Taming Clan, where the flowers bloom all year round, said to be influenced by the Dragon Power of the Holy Sanctuary Guardian, Dragonite.

Come to think of it, Arceus created a Life Orb which can enrich the soil, containing a Dragon Origin Plate within it.

In this sense, Porto Marinada Town’s fair weather might indeed be related to those Dragonite and Dragonair.

Tonight’s dinner was prepared by his sister, Indeedee.

She was busy in the kitchen making Poffins all afternoon.

The diligent sister, Indeedee, made as many as two large boxes of Poffins throughout the afternoon.

She distributed the Poffins among the Pokemon at the ranch, especially to the two wild Dragonites and the five Dragonairs.

Receiving their gratitude and joy, sister Indeedee was overjoyed and immediately assured that she would make more Poffins whenever they wanted.

Seeing this, Naoki was at a loss for words.

Good heavens! This wasn’t a ploy to exploit his sister Indeedee, making her prepare Poffins to feed the two wild Dragonite!

With their favorite Poffins, the two wild Dragonites joyfully carried the Poffins, preparing to return to Dragon Island with the five Dragonairs.

Seeing this, Naoki was puzzled and hurriedly stopped the departing Pokemon, asking, ”Why are you leaving already?”

The wild Dragonite blinked, ”Roar!”

Naoki ate a Translation Nut, and then heard the wild Dragonite say:

”We promised the Dragonair and Dratini on the island that we would return every night with food, so they won’t worry!”

The other wild Dragonite added, ”Those Dratini said when they grow up, they also want to come over here like us!”

When they return and tell the other Dragonair and Dratini about today, they too might want to come here to work.

Naoki: ”...”

”Alright then, make sure to stay safe!”

Seeing them planning to share the Poffins with other dragons, Naoki handed them two more Poffin Boxes filled with Poffins:

”From now on, these boxes are your wage cards. After working each day, you’ll receive a full box of Poffins.”

Hearing this, the eyes of the two wild Dragonites lit up.

They embraced their Poffin Boxes with a sense of anticipation for the future, cheerfully setting off on their way home.

Naoki wasn’t worried. Considering the speed of the Dragonite, if they flew at full speed, they could reach Dragon Island in just a dozen minutes.

As for why it takes him so long to reach Dragon Island, it’s because if Dragonite flew that fast, he’d get dragon-sick.

After dinner, it was time for the tavern to open for the night.

Naoki didn’t go today; instead, he stayed home, watching TV with Koraidon.

Having eaten a lot of sunflower seed snacks recently, Naoki was feeling a bit under the weather, so he was controlling his intake. Even if he went to the tavern, he couldn’t understand the Pokemon’s conversations.

But suddenly, he heard the sound of a siren outside.

Naoki’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly got up to check outside.

He saw the familiar Miss Jenny arriving on her motorcycle with Growlithe, heading to the tavern.

However, Growlithe didn’t go into the tavern to visit today; it stayed by Miss Jenny’s side, seeming to have some task to do.

”Sorry to intrude!” Seeing Naoki, Miss Jenny greeted him first, then said, ”I’m going to park my bike here and later take Growlithe to the tavern for a drink.”

Naoki thought of the bad guys who stole other people’s Pokemon in the anime and froze: ”Are there Pokemon Hunters in the area?”

Miss Jenny was momentarily taken aback but then chuckled, shaking her head:

”Not at all; Porto Marinada Town is known for its good security, there are no Pokemon Hunters around. We’re just going into the mountains for a patrol tonight.”

Hearing this, Naoki let out a sigh of relief, ”A patrol?”

”Yes!” Miss Jenny nodded gently, ”It’s autumn, so there are a lot of dry leaves in the mountains. Some Trainers occasionally camp there, and there are wild Fire Type Pokemon. A little carelessness can lead to a wildfire.”

”So, every evening during this season, I do a round of patrols in the mountains, otherwise it would be disastrous if a fire broke out.”

Naoki nodded, thinking of a forest fire scene, ”Indeed, thank you for your hard work!”

”As long as that situation doesn’t occur.”

Miss Jenny smiled softly, then her expression turned serious.

”Winter is approaching, and if a fire occurs, not only will there be Pokemon casualties, but the food in the forest will also be burned away. Even if some Pokemon survive, they’ll find it hard to get through the winter without food, so it’s a very important task.”

Growlithe also nodded earnestly, ”Woof woof!”
