Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 231: Chapter 174: Professor Sada and Arven (4k)

Naoki also noticed Professor Sada and Arven not far away.

At first glance, he thought he was seeing things and stood there dumbfounded for a moment.

How could these two people appear here?

”Professor Sada?” Naoki exclaimed in surprise.

Professor Sada nodded lightly, a spirited smile appearing on her face, ”Long time no see, Naoki.”

”Why did you suddenly visit?” Naoki stopped what he was doing and went forward to greet the guests.

Upon hearing this, Professor Sada glanced at Arven beside her, pondered for a moment, and said:

”Last time, when you mentioned those things, I found them reasonable. So this time, I specially took a few days off to relax with Arven.”

Naoki nodded, remembering that he mentioned last time to Professor Sada and Professor Turo that Arven mistakenly thought Koraidon and Miraidon had taken his parents away, which is why he didn’t particularly like those two Pokemon.

Looking at Professor Sada’s demeanor, it seemed like she wanted to make it up to Arven?

However... if you’re looking to relax, shouldn’t you be going to an amusement park to ride a carousel and ferris wheel? Why think of coming to a ranch?

Naoki was puzzled.

Professor Sada saw his expression, seemingly reading his thoughts, and explained with a smile:

”Enjoying the idyllic scenery with Arven and experiencing rural life are great choices, plus...”

As she spoke, her gaze shifted to Koraidon, ”We can simultaneously observe this Koraidon up close.”

Ever since hearing Naoki’s words last time, the more Professor Sada thought about it, the more it made sense.

So she let her husband Turo watch over the lab while she took Arven out for a proper break.

Thus, they came to the ranch, ready to enjoy some farm life, and simultaneously observe the differences between this unique Koraidon and the one in Zone Zero.

Naoki: ”...”

Naoki understood Professor Sada’s meaning, and for a moment, didn’t quite know what to say.

He looked at Professor Sada, then at Arven beside her.

After Professor Sada’s words, Arven, who was initially quite cheerful, immediately became upset.

It was rare for his mother to take time off and go out with him, so Arven was originally very happy.

He eagerly anticipated the thought of his mother taking him to the amusement park for some fun and then having a big meal, maybe even a lively family gathering — just like other families.

But as it turned out, they came to this place, and when he noticed his mother focusing all her attention on Koraidon, Arven’s previously upturned mouth turned into a straight line, and his young face showed a deep sense of disappointment.

Naoki: ”...”

”So, can we have a picnic here?” Professor Sada asked, ”I’ll cover the cost and rent for the space.”

Naoki: ”...”

Well, since they’re already here, he couldn’t really send them away.

He glanced at little Arven, hesitatingly saying, ”Of course, we can, it’s just that the ingredients on the ranch are running a bit low...”

Professor Sada nodded, ”Then I’ll visit Porto Marinada Market. Arven, would you like to come along?”

Unhappy as he was, little Arven kept his head down and said nothing.

Seeing this, Professor Sada could only say: ”In that case, you stay here and wait for me, I’ll go to town and buy some of your favorite foods.”

Having said that, Professor Sada turned and left.

Naoki left the farmland, washed his hands, and then took a drink from the fridge to hand to Arven, who was standing still.

”You’re called Arven, right? I heard your name from Professor Sada!”

Arven looked at the man in front of him and shook his head honestly, ”I’m not thirsty.”

”Then drink it when you’re thirsty, just take it!”

Seeing no way to refuse, Arven mumbled a small thank you.

”Just call me Naoki,” Naoki grinned, never expecting that senior Arven from the game would have such a side.

However, from the looks of him now, he seemed to be only seven or eight, not yet ten.

While waiting for Professor Sada to return, Naoki had Arven wait there, while he took his Pokemon to the farmland to finish the remaining work.

By the time he had finished piling the harvested crops onto the lawn, Professor Sada had returned to the ranch with a large bag of ingredients, and she handed him a stack of League coins.

Naoki counted it and found it amounted to a hefty sum of ten thousand League coins!

Wow, they’re wealthy!

Since she had paid, he couldn’t be careless.

Naoki carefully inspected the ingredients Professor Sada had bought and decided to plan a lively and warm barbecue farm gathering for her and her son.

He prepared the necessary tools, cut the meat into small pieces, skewered them on iron skewers, and also made a few glasses of chilled watermelon juice.

”Do you need me to do the grilling?” Naoki asked.

Professor Sada shook her head, ”We’ll do it ourselves!”

Seeing this, Naoki decided to move to the other side, not wanting to disturb the mother and son’s conversation.

However, he hadn’t expected Professor Sada to call out to him, ”Join us, there’s plenty, and I and Arven won’t finish it all. Tell me more about Koraidon!”

Naoki thought for a moment and agreed, setting up a picnic blanket on the grass nearby with a bunch of Pokemon, and laid out the prepared sandwiches and snacks on it.

Koraidon, Cyclizar, Dragonite, Glaceon, and other Pokemon sat around the picnic blanket and began to feast with gusto.

Watching this, Professor Sada once again felt a sense of wonder.
