Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 10: Chapter 9: Koraidon Uproots the Willows

Enhancing the quality of milk?

Limited to cow Pokémon?

Naoki raised his eyebrows, surprised.

He only knew that the cooking effect would directly enhance a Pokémon’s power, speed, and other boosts like cold resistance.

But he wasn’t aware that cooking could also have such auxiliary enhancement effects.

This would be a great help to the farm work!

So if other dishes are made, will there be similar effects?

There are so many kinds of food, it’s probably impossible to make all the dishes in this world even in fifty years.

But no matter what, at this moment, Naoki found himself deeply interested in those unknown dishes and effects.

”There’s plenty of time, I can take my time to try them out.”

Naoki thought as he turned and placed two glasses of Berry Milk in front of Koraidon and Cyclizar.

Though neither Koraidon nor Cyclizar are milk-producing Pokémon, it’s still okay for them to drink it as a regular beverage.

Before being summoned by the Time Machine, Koraidon had just finished a battle with another annoying Koraidon.

It got a bit injured in that battle, and after being summoned, realizing it had returned to this timeline, it hurried home without resting.

Now, having finished Naoki’s meal, savoring the familiar taste and slowly recovering from the injuries, Koraidon felt completely relaxed.

It couldn’t help but step forward to Naoki, gleefully licking his face to express affection and longing.

But Naoki didn’t know what Koraidon was thinking at the moment.

He was initially horrified but relaxed when he remembered that in the game, Koraidon also nuzzled against the player and Penny like this.

Feeling the slobber all over his face, Naoki speechlessly pushed Koraidon away.

Koraidon wasn’t angry, just sat nearby with a dumb grin, its big tail swaying as it watched Naoki wash his face.

After Cyclizar finished eating, Naoki collected the dishes, washed them clean, and stretched widely.

Having been busy all day, it was time for a good sleep!

Without a bathroom on the farm, Naoki went outside and washed up quickly with the garden hose before lazily jumping onto the bed, yawning while browsing the ”Pasture Encyclopedia” on spring crop planting.

He still had a lot to do tomorrow.

Chopping down excess trees, smashing rocks in the field, tilling the soil, and planting seeds and fruit trees.

He also needed to try fishing to see if he could catch any big fish to sell to Zack in the evening to supplement the family income.

With no mature crops and the Pokemon House not yet repaired, this was his only means of earning money.

Naoki planned tomorrow’s schedule in his head while glancing at the bedside.

Cyclizar yawned, lying drowsily on the wooden floor.

Koraidon also found a spot to close its eyes and rest.

Naoki’s presence, the familiar environment, and the lingering aroma of food in the air made it feel incredibly secure.

Although the farm was far from town, out in the wilderness, with Cyclizar around, Naoki didn’t feel scared.

Not to mention the sudden addition of Koraidon.

Naoki smiled and then lay down.

Turn off the lights and sleep!

Early the next morning, by instinct as a corporate worker, Naoki woke up at dawn.

He glanced at the clock on the wall to find it was only 6:15.

He intended to nap a bit more, but realizing there was still so much to do today, he instantly lost any drowsiness.

Rubbing his eyes, he got up to start making breakfast.

Hearing the rustling sounds from the bed, Koraidon opened one eye, saw Naoki getting up, and went back to sleep.

Cyclizar, however, raised its head.

Seeing it move, Naoki patted its head while passing by, chuckling softly, ”Keep sleeping, I’ll go prepare breakfast and call you up later.”

”Groan~”

And so, Cyclizar closed its eyes again, lying on the floor asleep.

This morning, Naoki prepared sandwiches for Cyclizar.

Using toast bought from Porto Marinada Market, self-fried meat patties, and freshly sliced tomatoes and lettuce all mixed together, finally spread with a thick layer of cheese sauce, a fresh sandwich was ready.

Naoki looked down and the sandwich information immediately appeared.

[Sandwich (D): A sandwich blending various fresh ingredients, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables, rich in nutrition, perfect for breakfast.

Cooking Effect: Energy boost (small), makes Pokémon more energetic and less prone to drowsiness.

Rating: A basic fast-food sandwich, a very nice breakfast choice.]

”Is it just an energy boost?” Naoki was a bit disappointed but figured that with only the patty made by him, it was already pretty good.

After finishing breakfast preparations, Naoki awakened the two Pokémon. He wanted to make himself a sandwich too, but upon seeing the remaining pack of instant noodles in the cupboard, he decided not to waste it and cooked it for himself.

However, when he served the noodles, sharp-eyed Koraidon noticed it.

It looked down at the sandwich in front of it, then at the bowl of hot noodle soup, suddenly stood upright, swapped the food, and gulped down the hot noodle soup.

Naoki: ”...”

He felt a bit surprised, looked down at the empty bowl, and asked, ”You really like this?”

For Koraidon, this was the first meal Naoki made for it, which was quite significant!

In the near future, as the farm grew wealthier, Naoki would hardly cook hot noodle soup anymore.

So, seeing it again, Koraidon felt nostalgic.

Koraidon: ”Groan growl hiss~”

Naoki couldn’t understand, but judging from Koraidon’s expression, it seemed to really like eating it, right?

This was in stark contrast to Cyclizar’s preference.

Naoki didn’t think much about it, and after washing the bowls, grabbed a hoe and headed outside.

A new workday was about to start!

After the practice yesterday morning, Naoki and Cyclizar’s teamwork had become very smooth.

Cyclizar used its tail to smash stones, clearing them out, while Naoki tilled the soil with the hoe behind.

Occasionally, they would encounter some big trees, but Naoki’s strength wasn’t enough, so he’d hand an axe to Cyclizar to help cut them down.

Koraidon watched from afar.

Suddenly, it let out a roar, then ran to a big tree, wrapped its arms around it, and with a burst of strength, uprooted it and tossed it aside.

Hearing the commotion, Naoki and Cyclizar turned their heads, their minds filled with questions.

???

Koraidon didn’t stop, continuing to help in the field with logging and stone moving.

Naoki was stunned: ”Such powerful strength! Is it repaying a favor?”

Indeed, having such a powerful Pokémon like Koraidon helping certainly lightened his workload.

Seeing Koraidon not stopping, Naoki and Cyclizar continued working busily.

With Koraidon’s addition, their work efficiency greatly improved.

In just one morning, they cleared out more than half of the farm area.

Naoki, sweating profusely, carried a watering can to water the plots, softening the soil to make it more suitable for planting.

”Having a Water Type Pokémon right now would be great,” Naoki couldn’t help but think.

After watering, the soil needed to cool for a while before planting.

Naoki didn’t rush to finish preparing the entire farm area.

Firstly, there weren’t enough seeds, and secondly, they were short-handed and couldn’t keep up.

This cleared half would keep them busy for a long time.
