Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 5: Chapter 4: Koraidon

After strolling around the ranch, Naoki had imprinted the entire terrain map of the ranch in his mind.

While rushing back with Cyclizar, he suddenly recalled the former town mayor saying that he had left something for him in the storeroom behind the house.

Naoki walked around the wooden cabin and arrived at the storeroom. Pushing open the door, he saw various tools placed atop a large box.

Hammer, sickle, hoe, sprayer, axe, a pack of crop seeds wrapped in a red packaging bag, and a brown leather book titled ”Pasture Encyclopedia.”

Most of these tools were made of iron, and they appeared quite new, likely purchased specially by the town mayor to be gifted.

In his heart, Naoki silently expressed gratitude as he was currently quite short on funds.

He stepped forward to collect these tools and then picked up the pack of seeds.

Information about the seeds immediately popped into his mind.

[Turnip Seeds: Spring crop, originally requiring three months to mature, but in this world, it takes only about a month to harvest, very suitable for novice ranchers to plant. If attended by Grass Type Pokemon, its growth cycle will be further shortened.]

”Eh?” Naoki was somewhat shocked: ”They grow so fast?”

He carefully recalled the original owner’s memory, and after quite a while he finally found relevant information from deep within those memories.

—This is how the world naturally is, with fast-growing crops and short cycles.

Because of this, humans here have hardly ever experienced food shortages.

”No wonder the Pokemon World feels like a utopia...” Naoki muttered in his heart.

Humans need not worry about food issues, coupled with the existence of Pokemon, productivity has been greatly liberated, enabling young people to freely travel and pursue what they wish to do.

However, from the original owner’s memory, Naoki learned that not all crops grow this quickly.

There are some crops with very long growth cycles, maturing almost once every season.

Naoki nodded silently, then picked up the book, opened the flyleaf, and found it recorded methods for planting and nurturing crops.

Every page contained different crops, detailing how to plow fields, timing for crop planting, fertilization methods, watering cycles, and other content.

After casually flipping through a few pages, Naoki cherishingly stored it away and left the storeroom with Cyclizar.

Opposite the storeroom was a cave, Naoki walked inside and discovered that the cave’s internal space was not large.

From childhood memories of the original owner, it could be known that this cave had two main functions.

One was for mushroom cultivation, as such dark and damp places are ideally suited for mushrooms to grow.

The second was for raising Noibat. The Noibat residing here would head outside after sunset, foraging and bringing back various berries and normal fruits for the rancher.

This magical Pokemon is naturally a gourmet.

They use their ears to emit supersonic waves of 200,000 Hz to find ripe fruit, and blast at the fruit using supersonic waves, exclusively selecting matured ones to consume.

”Interesting.” Naoki thought to himself.

After understanding the cave’s uses, Naoki didn’t linger there.

He returned to the front with the tools, and looking at a weed-covered field, decided to proceed step by step, first clearing a small area for planting turnips.

Seeing his actions, the nearby Cyclizar eagerly volunteered to assist: ”Gyaa-oh!”

With a swing of its tail, accompanied by the heavy descent of the tail, the stone seemed heavily struck, shattering into pieces.

Naoki: ”...”

He glanced down at the hammer in his hand, and at the stone he had painstakingly cracked, unsure what to say for a moment.

Cyclizar seemed pleased that it could be of help.

Looking at its demeanor, Naoki sighed helplessly and said with relief, ”Let’s work together then!”

”Gyaa-oh!”

Meanwhile, in the central region of Paldea, within a basin surrounded by towering and steep mountains.

This is the Paldea Giant Pit, a mysterious area known as ”Zone Zero.”

Below this area sits a modernized, advanced laboratory.

Deep within the laboratory, Pokemon Doctor Professor Sada and her husband, Professor Turo, gazed expectantly and excitedly at the tall, mysterious advanced machine before them.

”The Time Machine is finally successfully developed!”

Professor Sada, clad in a white lab coat and wearing a necklace resembling ancient beast teeth as decoration, exclaimed excitedly.

”Finally, we can see those Pokemon from the future and past recorded in the Book of Scarlet and Violet!” Professor Turo was equally excited.

He and his wife spent many years stationed in the deepest part of the Paldea Giant Pit conducting this research.

They specialized respectively in ancient and future research and finally, utilizing the special area deep within the Paldea Giant Pit, developed this device.

It can transmit Poke Balls, capture Pokemon from different timelines, and summon them to modern-day.

”Let’s try it now! I want to witness those Pokemon from different eras with my own eyes!” Professor Sada declared.

Professor Turo nodded, and had a moment of tenderness, suddenly asking, ”Isn’t Arven’s eighth birthday coming soon?”

Professor Sada nodded, ”Coincidentally, we can bring those era-crossing Pokemon back to accompany Arven and share life together.”

”Then let’s begin!” Professor Turo also shared this thought.

He took a deep breath and began looking forward to seeing what expression Arven would make upon seeing those Pokemon.

The child always loved Pokemon; if he saw Pokemon from the future and past, he would surely be delighted, right?

There are no parents who don’t love their child, and thinking about it, they’ve already been away from him for quite some time.

This time, they planned to return and take a vacation to spend quality time with Arven.

Professor Turo thought silently while he and his wife used ID codes to start the Time Machine.

”Wong!”

With a peculiar humming sound, the Time Machine quietly started.

The space around the laboratory began to undergo strange changes, the walls rhythmically glowing with red and purple hues like mirrors.

The duo stared unblinkingly at the Time Machine, excited and nervous.

Soon, the rhythm around slowed down.

Subsequently, a dazzling red light flashed from the center of the Time Machine.

Both their hearts were tense to the extreme.

As the light gradually faded, a Pokemon they had never seen appeared below the Time Machine.

It was a tall, strong, bipedal mysterious Pokemon.

Its physique crimson red, with white accents on its face, abdomen, thick legs, and tail, and a slender, long antenna-like tendril atop its head adorned with a cluster of mesmerizing blue-purple feathers, appearing formidable and flamboyant.

It had a pair of golden eyes, gazing fiercely at the two humans opposite.

Success!

Professor Sada and Professor Turo were relieved upon seeing the Pokemon.

Finally! Their efforts hadn’t gone to waste!

”Quickly, use the Poke Ball to contain it!” Professor Turo calmly suggested.

Professor Sada nodded, raised the pre-prepared Poke Ball, and tossed it towards the Pokemon.

However, as soon as the Pokemon saw the Poke Ball, its golden eyes suddenly narrowed into a slit.

With an indistinguishable roar from its mouth, it casually swung its right claw, sending the Poke Ball flying away.

Professors Sada and Turo felt a hint of hostility.

They tensed up, about to release the Pokemon beside them.

But they noticed that the mysterious Pokemon from the past suddenly turned its head to survey the surroundings, seemingly confirming something.

Soon, it seemed to have the answer.

In the next moment, emotions appeared in the Pokemon’s eyes that were unreadable; with powerful thrusts from its legs, it ignored the two professors, striding out of the laboratory.

Its speed was remarkable; before Professors Sada and Turo could react, it had dashed outside the lab in one breath.

Then it looked upwards, its head feathers unfolding into wing-like structures, and it darted upward.

How long had it waited?

Koraidon no longer remembered.

The imagery floated back in its mind from when it fell into the Time Machine, the expression on that person’s face.

Worry, anxiety, panic, and the hand reaching out to try and grab it.

On that day, it was still just a Cyclizar.

On that day, it fell into the Time Machine, returning to ancient times, affected by unknown forces, transformed into its current form.
