Awakening a 10,000x Skill Proficiency Multiplier in the Apocalypse

His Administrator UI violently flickered, overwhelmed by the impossible math he was forcing it to process. Massive, glaring warning prompts flooded his vision, the text shifting erratically between angry red and pristine gold.

[CRITICAL ALERT: UNAUTHORIZED SYNTHESIS DETECTED.]

[Warning: System architecture cannot process localized emotional variable.]

[ANOMALY CRITICAL: Concept of Error synthesizing with Concept of Life...]

”Stop sending me notifications, I’m trying to grieve,” Sebastian snarled, physically swiping his massive hand through the holographic prompts, shattering them into golden sparks.

He focused every single ounce of his willpower on the synthesis. He gripped the chaotic mixture in his hands, feeling it thrum and pulse with a heavy, rhythmic heartbeat. It felt like holding a newborn star that was simultaneously dying of a fatal disease. It was alive, and it was entirely broken.

[Synthesis Complete.]

[New Conceptual Law Authored: The Genesis Glitch.]

[Effect: Fuses the chaotic, organic unpredictability of biological life with the absolute, destructive formatting of raw software error. Injects sentience into sterile code. Target will experience spontaneous, un-rendered mutation.]

”Oh, that is beautiful,” Sebastian breathed, a dark, terrifying smile curving his lips beneath the cracked porcelain mask.

He looked at the infinite wall of white light advancing toward him. The Genesis Protocol was designed to scrub the universe clean. It was meant to turn everything into a quiet, perfect, empty white room.

It was time to give the room some personality.

Sebastian pulled both of his fists back, the raw, pulsing energy of the [Genesis Glitch] wrapping around his knuckles like boxing gloves made of liquid gold and black static.

”You guys want to format my planet?” Sebastian roared, his voice physically cracking the empty space of the Juncture. ”You’re gonna have to format me first! Eat shit!”

He lunged forward. He didn’t just touch the wall. He threw his entire, twenty-foot-tall body weight into a devastating, double-handed strike directly against the pristine white surface of the Genesis Protocol.

*KRA-DOOOOM!*

The impact was absolute, mind-breaking devastation.

The moment his fists connected with the white light, there was no loud explosion. Instead, a terrifying, low-frequency shockwave rippled across the entire surface of the infinite wall.

Sebastian forcefully injected the [Genesis Glitch] straight into the formatting command.

The pristine, sterile white light violently stuttered. It didn’t just turn purple or green. The pure logic of the Core OS suddenly screamed as it was forcefully introduced to the concept of organic, chaotic life.

*SQUELCH! SHHHHK!*

Right beneath Sebastian’s hands, the blinding white wall began to bubble and blister. Thick, grotesque veins of glowing gold and bruised-purple code violently erupted across the smooth surface. The wall wasn’t just breaking; it was actively mutating.

”Yeah, chew on that, you clinical freaks,” Sebastian growled, digging his fingers deeper into the mutating light, pushing more and more of his infinite mana into the infection.

The mutation spread like wildfire. Massive, jagged tumors of raw, un-rendered earth, twisted trees, and rusted iron skyscrapers spontaneously burst out of the pristine white wall. The Genesis Protocol was trying to delete reality, but the virus Sebastian injected was aggressively, forcefully building a brand new, highly corrupted reality right on top of it.

[SYSTEM OVERLOAD. KERNEL LOGIC CORRUPTED.]

[FORMATTING WAVE COMPROMISED. REBOOT FAILING.]

The low, resonant hum of the white light turned into a chaotic, screeching chorus of dial-up static and grinding gears. The infinite wall of the Genesis Protocol didn’t just stop advancing. It violently buckled.

A massive, jagged fissure ripped open directly in front of Sebastian. It was a tear that stretched for miles, revealing the dark, brutalist stone and brass gears of the Hardware Level hiding behind the light.

Sebastian stood before the massive, bleeding wound in the fabric of the universe. He was panting heavily, his massive fists smoking with residual gold and black energy.

The formatting wave was broken. The apocalypse was officially canceled.

But Sebastian wasn’t done. He looked down at his chest, placing a gentle, protective hand over the glowing stasis pocket where Valerie slept.

”I’m going to make them pay for this, Seattle,” Sebastian whispered, his silver eyes locking onto the dark, grinding abyss of the Motherboard revealed through the tear. ”Every single one of them.”

He stepped through the shattered wall, leaving the Juncture behind, and marched directly into the home of the gods. It was time to pull the plug.

*

The jagged, violently glowing green tear in the fabric of the universe snapped shut behind Sebastian with a sickening, wet squelch.

*FWOOSH.*

The transition was instantly, horrifically jarring. There was no magical chime, no soft blue light welcoming him to a new zone, and absolutely no comforting hum of ambient mana. The Ethereal Plane, with its gamified physics, floating health bars, and neatly categorized magical elements, was completely gone.

Sebastian’s massive, twenty-foot-tall combat boots hit the floor, and the impact sent a brutal, unforgiving shockwave straight up his shins.

*CLANK.*

He stumbled forward, dropping to one massive knee. He threw his right hand out to catch himself against the ground. The surface wasn’t made of polished obsidian, and it certainly wasn’t constructed from hard-light code. It was cold, rough, unpolished dark stone. It felt gritty and undeniably, aggressively real against the black leather of his tactical gloves.

”Fuck,” Sebastian gasped, his colossal chest heaving as he stared at the floor.

He was alone.

He looked around, trying to force his highly optimized, digital brain to process the sudden shift in reality. The environment was a breathtaking, horrifying testament to brutalist engineering. This was the Motherboard. The Hardware Level.

There were no floating crystal gardens here. There were no majestic rivers of glowing blue mana or beautifully rendered skyboxes. It was a sprawling, subterranean mega-structure that looked like the inside of a colossal, fascist clock tower designed by a madman. Massive, towering pillars of tarnished brass stretched up into a ceiling that was completely lost in shadow. Giant, interlocking iron gears the size of city blocks slowly ground against each other, churning with a deafening, rhythmic mechanical roar.

*SCREEECH... GRIND... CLUNK.*

The air was stiflingly thick. It didn’t smell like ozone or the clean, sterile light of the Core OS. It smelled like raw, burnt motor oil, oxidized copper, and stale, suffocating industrial exhaust.

Sebastian opened his mouth to take a deep breath, and immediately choked.

”Jesus Christ,” Sebastian grumbled, waving a massive, static-laced hand in front of his cracked porcelain mask. ”The creators of the universe need to invest in some basic ventilation. This place smells like the inside of a cheap auto mechanic’s garage on a humid Tuesday.”

He tried to open his green, corrupted Administrator UI. He needed a map. He needed to find the central processing unit of this miserable dump and smash it into a million pieces.

*BZZZT.*

A pathetic, flickering green square popped up in his vision, heavily distorted by thick gray static. It looked like a television screen struggling to find a signal during a thunderstorm.

[Error: Network Connection Offline.]

[Hardware Level Detected. Ethereal Physics Engine: UNAVAILABLE.]

[Warning: Digital Assets Incompatible with Base Reality.]

The screen violently short-circuited and vanished entirely, plunging his vision back to normal.

”Right. No software in the hardware room,” Sebastian muttered, a cold spike of unease settling into his chest.

Before he could take a step forward into the labyrinth of brass and stone, his entire body violently seized.

”GAAAAAAH!”

The scream that tore out of Sebastian wasn’t a layered, distorted chorus of overlapping audio files. It was a raw, agonizing, completely human shriek of pure physical torment.

His majestic, terrifying twenty-foot-tall avatar violently began to collapse. The dark, bruised-purple error codes and jagged green wireframes that made up his glitch form didn’t just fade; they aggressively, forcefully combusted. The Hardware Level did not run on code. It ran on base reality. And to base reality, a giant made of floating math and malware was mathematically impossible.

The Ethereal Plane’s physics engine had been turned off, and reality was aggressively correcting the error.

The black polygons making up his massive shoulders burned away in a flash of blinding, searing heat. The cracked porcelain mask that covered his face shattered into a million useless gray fragments, blowing away in the stale, oily wind.

*CRACK! SNAP! SQUELCH!*

His biological steel bones violently compressed. The sound of his own skeleton forcibly shrinking back to human proportions was deafening. It felt like being shoved into a furnace while simultaneously being crushed inside an industrial car compactor.

His lungs burned as they reverted to their normal capacity. The heavy, comforting hum of his infinite mana pool completely vanished. It was like someone had reached into his chest and violently ripped a pulsing, warm engine right out of his ribcage, leaving nothing but a hollow, agonizing void.

He hit the dark stone floor hard, sliding across the rough surface. He was back to six-foot-two. His tattered black leather coat returned, but it was smoking and scorched at the edges.

He coughed violently, his chest heaving with desperate, ragged breaths. A thick splatter of liquid hit the stone beneath his face.
