Picking Up a Gorgeous CEO for a Wife

Chapter 1225: Chapter 1225: Taking Personal Action

Where have I seen him before?

After Elder Hu disappeared, the two quarreling people seemed to lose interest as well. The vendor no longer demanded an exorbitant compensation, and lowered it by several folds. The buyer took out a few hundred yuan to settle the matter privately, and the issue was quickly resolved.

Seeing that there was no more spectacle to watch, the crowd that had gathered quickly dispersed.

”Qiqi, what are you thinking about?” Seeing Mo Yuqi tilting her head and deep in thought, Qin Yu asked curiously.

”I feel like that old man we just saw looked really familiar.”

After muttering to herself, Mo Yuqi suddenly widened her eyes.

”I remember now! That man is Hu Liuzhi from the Six Fingers Sect! Not good! Boss, check your backpack!”

Qin Yu acted surprised as well, ”Yikes! Had you not mentioned it, I wouldn’t have noticed my backpack feels much lighter!”

While speaking, Qin Yu took off his backpack and found a large slit about ten centimeters long at the bottom! Fortunately, the Nourishing Heart Wood box was longer than the slit and had not been stolen.

However, the several hundred thousand US dollars were all gone.

”Boss, check what’s missing? Let’s call the police right away. The Six Fingers Sect is too audacious! They even dared steal from us!”

As she spoke, Mo Yuqi took out her smartphone.

”Don’t call the police, please don’t!” Qin Yu hurriedly shook his head.

”Huh? Why not? Should we let the thief get away scot-free?” Mo Yuqi asked, clearly puzzled.

”Of course not. It’s because the thief lost something more valuable than what he stole from me!” As he said this, Qin Yu proudly held up his thumb.

Seeing the imperial green jade ring on Qin Yu’s thumb, Mo Yuqi’s beautiful big eyes widened!

She exclaimed, ”I heard that the imperial green jade ring, which was once used by the Empress Dowager Cixi, was stolen! Some said it was the work of Hu Liuzhi, the Sect Leader of the Six Fingers Sect... I didn’t believe it at first, but now, I do!

It looks like the Six Fingers Sect really ended up at the losing end!”

”So, if you were to report it to the police, I’m afraid the one getting caught would be me! After all, this ring is worth several hundred million and can’t be easily acquired.”

”Alright, alright, we won’t call the police. Let’s get out of here quickly.” Mo Yuqi hurriedly pulled Qin Yu away from Panjiayuan.

...

The headquarters of the Six Fingers Sect was located in a small alley near Panjiayuan. With the successful theft from Qin Yu, who they regarded as a fat sheep, Elder Hu felt very pleased. Surrounded by his disciples, he returned to the headquarters.

Upon entering the courtyard house, his disciples began to praise him, ”Elder Hu is truly awesome! We got our hands on it so easily! With this, we have enough for our annual tribute!”

”Yeah! We haven’t had such a big catch in a long time. Nowadays, people have become savvy. When buying things, they hardly carry much cash with them. It’s been a long time since we made such a large sum in one go.

Our line of work as thieves is getting tougher by the day!”

Elder Hu sighed. Each year, they were required to pay a considerable amount of money to the Ancient Martial Alliance, only then could they barely survive.

In recent years, as people’s awareness for prevention strengthened, especially with the rise of smartphone payments, stealing money had become increasingly difficult! The thieves’ living environment was worsening!

Therefore, Elder Hu took a risk by stealing several antiques, which was what allowed the Six Fingers Sect to hold on until now.

With the year-end approaching and still short of several hundred thousand dollars for the tribute, Elder Hu was quite troubled. If not for hearing about such a fat sheep like Qin Yu, he wouldn’t have been so excited to take action personally!
