Chapter 1182: Chapter 14: Breakout (Part 1)

”Markovich! Gather immediately!”

Fatty shouted, rapidly loading the magazine into the sniper rifle while saying to Nash, ”Order your men to follow commands! Those guys have been fighting you here for nine hours; they can’t just leave it like that. They have mechas, and the last attack only sent one up to test our anti-mecha firepower. If you were the enemy commander, how would you attack?”

Seeing two mechas start and the bandit soldiers gather, the remaining Chuckna warriors stood up nervously.

Nash stared at the map, and suddenly had an epiphany—the reason for no movement on the enemy’s front was clearly not abandonment. They were preparing for an ambush!

The two flanks of the 347 position are steep and hard to assault, but for mechas, they’re not particularly challenging. If the enemy commander wants to go all in, they will certainly use their infantry’s numerical advantage to launch a frontal assault, then use their mechas to encircle along the mountain slopes! There’s no anti-mecha firepower on the position, even with a patched-up mecha, it’s impossible to defend on all sides!

As long as an enemy mecha makes it into the position, it’s over! Ten or twenty people aren’t enough to withstand a burst from the energy machine gun! By then, even rushing forward holding a fusion hand grenade wouldn’t get close enough!

Luckily, Fatty Major General reacted in time, gaining a bit of leeway; otherwise, it would be a dead end.

The key issue now is, how many more mechas do the enemies have, and how long can their firepower coverage last!

The enemy charging requires time. The two bandit army mecha pilots killing the enemy mechas also require time.

If there are more than five mechas, charging simultaneously from two flanks and the front, if the enemy’s firepower coverage can last until their troops reach beyond the position’s artillery range, this battle could be incredibly brutal!

”Gather! Follow the General’s unified orders.” Nash suddenly roared insanely, ”Enter the concealed trench, hide, prepare for battle!”

”Go!” Fatty took the lead, diving into the communication trench. The ordered Chuckna warriors tightly followed Nash and Markovich. The entire mecha trench was like a boiling pot, even the twenty-odd bandit army rookies scurried into the communication trench.

To hell with it, when the enemy attacks, take down a couple to cover costs first!

Almost at the first moment everyone reached the communication trench, the sounds of mechanical energy cannon fire came from both sides of the position, accompanied by explosions and the deafening clash of metal during combat.

Soon, the sky echoed with rumbling sounds. In the blink of an eye, a storm of fire engulfed the entire position.

This time, the Jiepeng people clearly had no intention of holding back. They practically unleashed all the energy that an infantry battalion could equip.

Hiding in the explosion-proof pit of the concealed trench, Fatty’s face turned livid.

The violent explosions swept through the entire trench. Shockwaves and flames rampaged within the pit. The ground shook violently. Even with ears covered, the wild sounds drilled into everyone’s heads. All mouths were agape, and the scorching air made it hard to breathe. Occasionally, energy boxes and ammunition exploded, and the explosion-proof pit’s shed emitted a piercing sound. Scrap metal thrown into the air, mixed with soil and stones, crashed down like a torrential rain.

Boom. An explosion-proof pit was precisely hit, and several bandit soldiers and two Chuckna soldiers immediately turned into a shower of flesh and blood. Torn limbs and severed arms were thrown out of the concealed trench, flying several dozens of meters away.

Fatty knew that the enemy, having figured them out, was now recklessly wasting their ammunition. Without artillery countermeasures, this bombardment would persist until their own forces entered the fire coverage area or all ammunition energy was depleted.

Fortunately, the Jiepeng people only had twenty self-propelled artillery pieces per battalion, and these dumb machines, sacrificing mobility for long barrels meant for range, carried limited ammunition.

During the more than twenty previous attacks, Nash had called for artillery countermeasures several times, causing the Jiepeng people’s self-propelled artillery to sustain substantial losses, stalling them several times. Otherwise, without a need for infantry assaults, just the fire coverage would be enough to flatten this position.

Fatty mentally calculated the possible mecha and forces that the Jiepeng people might have, his eyes grew increasingly red, and his face gnawed more fiercely. His trembling body, after completely letting go, miraculously calmed down.

Over a hundred people left, a few mechas, dare to fight me to the death?! Cosmo and Hagrove, resolve the mechas flanking the position, it won’t take more than three minutes!!

You son of a bitch, try killing me, I’ll crush you to death, you bastard!
