Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1163: Chapter 8: Surrounded_3

Everyone’s heartbeat was racing wildly!

Everyone knew what a Grandmaster Level Mechanic meant for this position—it was very likely a lifeline! At least, when the next Jiepeng Mecha charged up the position, they might have a chance to take it down. At least, the Mecha’s communication device might be able to contact the regiment headquarters. Or perhaps, before the next Jiepeng attack, reinforcements would have already arrived!

In the Mecha trenches, it was silent. Fatty quickly used the dense point spiral welding method to repair the ball valve of the Kinetic Energy Storage acceleration device, glanced at the Mecha toolbox, and looked up: ”Missing parts!”

”Parts?!” Nash jumped up as if awakening from a dream: ”What parts do you need?”

”Half-moon shaped crankshaft... two No. 6 gears... one explosion-proof rubber sealing ring... four three-millimeter gaskets... one 6.5 energy valve, if not available, a 7.5 one would do, I’ll modify the pipe... one No. 4 manifold...” Fatty quickly listed the parts needed.

Almost immediately, Shen Ming dashed towards the bulletproof ditch where spare parts were piled up. Several bandit army mechanics in blue uniforms dashed, rolling and crawling towards the scattered parts and debris around the position.

”Got the No. 4 manifold!” A mechanic frantically dragged and pulled on a piece of Mecha wreckage.

”Half-moon shaped crankshaft!” Another mechanic directly brought an entire piece of parts.

”No. 6 gears, sealing ring, gaskets!” Shen Ming desperately dragged a supply box out of the pit, wriggling his body in the mud, kicking and punching with his feet.

Nash and the others also joined the ranks of collecting parts. Although many of the items were unfamiliar to them, it didn’t stop them from gathering all the parts and wreckage within sight to the Mecha trenches.

As the repair work continued, the materials Fatty needed became increasingly bizarre. These included not only parts dismantled from other ”Taixing” wreckage but even parts from Jiepeng ”Fushan” Mecha wreckage.

Shen Ming could no longer afford to think—despite the fact that this already overturned the Mecha repair manual he had held sacred for four years, he didn’t pause to question why! Now, he was just frantically busy collecting whatever parts Fatty needed. Then, watching these completely different standard parts, just like that, smoothly assembled together by Fatty right before his eyes!

Only a mechanic would know what Fatty’s technique represented—this had gone beyond the scope of repair skills; it was an art! An art that only a Master Level mechanic could possibly possess!

The damage to ”Taixing’s” chest was repaired, the damage to the abdomen was covered with add-on armor. The broken mechanical arm was equipped with a simple shield welded with add-on armor. The broken mechanical leg, in the intertwining welding and riveting of repair arms, grew longer and longer, eventually becoming a strange, makeshift mechanical leg.

Twenty minutes later, Fatty’s smooth actions came to a stop. As he gently clasped his fingers, the automatic repair arm retracted its hands and feet, once again becoming a quiet bracer, lying on Fatty’s arm with utmost docility, as if nothing had happened.

The trench was silent, everyone was panting, watching intoxicatedly at the Mecha before them which had become unrecognizable.

Its strange body, strange mechanical leg, patch-covered shell, even some oddly-shaped Mecha cores had been forcibly modified and moved to the outside of the shell by Fatty because suitable parts couldn’t be found.

No one knew whether this was a miracle or a farce!

”Fatty!” A shout from the little kid came from inside the Mecha cockpit: ”Come and see!”

On the Mecha, Fatty’s plump face twitched and he quickly drilled into the cockpit like a groundhog. Outside the Mecha, Nash and others exchanged glances and felt a chill run down their spines. From the sound of the little kid’s shout, something was obviously wrong. It was evident that Jiepeng had already assembled at the foot of the mountain, with the attack time calculating down to minutes or even seconds, and this makeshift and bizarre Mecha was ultimately just a wasteful joke.

”Lieutenant Nash,” came Fatty’s trembling voice from the Mecha: ”Come over!”

The cockpit couldn’t fit another person, so Nash could only climb up the Mecha and stick his head into the cockpit. Inside, a big and a small fatty were staring at the control panel screen with pale faces.

Nash turned his head, and a real-time terrain map appeared before him.

On the terrain map, red light points were surging in clusters. Countless data and coordinates were scrolling rapidly on the left side of the screen. Lines of commands continuously appeared in the rectangular subtitle screen at the bottom of the screen.

In an instant, Nash felt as if he had been struck by a heavy blow, stars flashing before his eyes.

”Jiepeng’s... SkyNet?!” His voice trembled, resembling a chicken being strangled, struggling with its last bit of strength. What lay before him was beyond his imagination.

What kind of monsters were these two fatties?!

”Nonsense!” The little kid burst into rage: ”Wasn’t asking you to look at that, look at the icons. We’ve been surrounded. Damn it, we’ve been surrounded! There’s no way out. That damn position of yours was abandoned long ago!”

The moment the little kid finished talking, there was a loud ”Boom!” and the entire position shook violently.

The soil erupted into the sky like water splashes.
