Counterfeit Hero

Oasis Airspace. In the distance, the Smoke Lake Nebula envelops countless asteroids, surrounding this silent space.

Amidst the light refracted by the nebula, the colossal hull of the Suss A1 Fleet’s Admiral Yangkevich-class Space Carrier Dawn Battle slowly rotates its sixty massive Steering Propulsions forward. As blue light beams from the nozzles, the carrier retreats to the rear of the main formation under the escort of two Typhoon-class Battleships.

Dozens of Battleships and cruisers on both wings, like a storm gathering, glide forward past the carrier. Countless energy cannon light clusters and explosions flash back and forth, blazing less than three hundred kilometers ahead of the carrier’s main formation.

”A2 Fleet moves way too slow.”

Suss Admiral Brumley, wearing an iron-gray uniform, quietly stands by the porthole, watching the Sword of Imperial Power Space Fighters return from the radiant battlefield, tired and damaged, circling and waiting for the carrier’s acceptance.

Beside him, Vice Admiral Maeda Youta grumbles impatiently, becoming increasingly impatient.

Brumley glanced lightly at his partner without speaking. Vice Admiral Maeda had just assumed his position in the A1 Fleet, a standout among the new generation of Suss leaders. Competent, but overly young and impetuous with a somewhat irritable temper. Watching the previously passive Chuckna Fleet gradually gaining the upper hand, he was evidently anxious.

Brumley lit his black jade pipe, letting the curling green smoke obscure his face. Such a situation, he had actually mentally prepared for long before. This wasn’t his first encounter with the Chuckna. In Resk, the A1 Fleet had several encounters in space with the Chuckna Fleet.

Four wins and two losses. Such a record seemed overwhelmingly favorable, but Brumley knew those victories came when Chuckna voluntarily retreated. The four victories couldn’t fill him with joy, whereas the two defeats left a lasting bitter taste.

Unbreakable Chuckna! Such a phrase is widely circulated in human society. This phrase has oppressed Suss for three thousand years!

In this universe where channels reign supreme, Chuckna occupies the most critical interstellar passage between the human’s Star Domain, the East, Southeast, and Central Star Domain, inherent in its dominance! Watching them thrive and prosper, Suss is firmly suppressed in the Eastern Star Domain, unable to move! This feeling of frustration is deeply rooted and continually grows within generations of Suss people.

Today, breaking free from this cage and using the complete defeat of this neighboring country as a foundation for rise is the common and singular wish of all Suss people! This wish is so intense and unstoppable. To realize it, whether it’s the Suss military, the Royal Family, or civilians, they are willing to pay any price!

Yet... only those who have truly faced the Chuckna can understand the real meaning of ”unbreakable Chuckna!”

Not mentioning the two defeats, just today’s Chuckna Fleet, after facing a major unexpected blow, can quickly react and launch a desperate counterattack, forcing the A1 Fleet into such a difficult position, is enough to appreciate the terrifying power Chuckna can unleash in a dire situation.

Fortunately, they can only explode under dire circumstances!

Brumley lightly thought that dealing with this country, the best method is to boil the frog slowly with warm water. If there are weaknesses, they are not invincible.

”Why haven’t they arrived yet?!” With a healthy figure and handsome appearance, an idol-like Vice Admiral Maeda Youta seems unable to contain his emotions anymore. Before him, the Suss Fleet has just lost another Destroyer.

Clearly, the newly appointed vice commander is worried. There’s such a tradition in the Suss Fleet. A newly appointed officer, after experiencing the first combat with the unit, the victory and defeat of the battle are often associated with their luck by subordinates. Winning earns respect and obedience, losing makes future days in the unit difficult. Though very subjective, even somewhat absurd, it is a deeply ingrained tradition among Suss soldiers!

Brumley lightly smiled. Wasn’t he just like this back then?!

”Don’t worry, Major General Maeda.” Brumley extinguished his pipe and signed the real-time battle plan from a staff officer, returning the folder and patting Maeda Youta’s shoulder: ”This Chuckna Fleet is already a turtle in the pot, unable to cause any waves! With this strategy, we can persist for at least four hours. The A2 Fleet should have long entered the Jump Channel, right? Isn’t four hours enough for them to complete the jump?”

”Yes, Admiral,” Maeda Youta took a deep breath and solemnly said, ”I was too impatient!”

”Is it because of the first-battle tradition?” Brumley smiled and said, ”Although the fleet has suffered considerable loss, just on this matter, I can congratulate you in advance.”

Feeling a bit embarrassed to be caught on his mind, Maeda Youta defended: ”I think our army has achieved the tactical goal, firmly attracting the Chuckna Fleet. Once the A2 Fleet appears, the situation is assured. Our side’s losses will be much smaller. All are the Emperor’s elite, it’s truly shameful to suffer such loss here for this reason. Besides, my fleet maintaining this posture for long is bound to alert the enemy, prolonging...”

”It’s somewhat difficult not to be seen through.” Brumley said, ”From the intelligence and combat style, the opposing commander should be Admiral Zhang Pengcheng. I strive to engage directly with him, frequently attacking and defending locally. Although capable of covering for a while, this tactic, after all, puts us at a disadvantage despite our numerical superiority. Over time, with Admiral Zhang Pengcheng’s acumen, he won’t overlook it, but...”

Brumley raised his eyebrows slightly: ”If you were Zhang Pengcheng, even if you realized it, what could you do?”

This question, Maeda Youta had actually thought over repeatedly, and when Brumley asked, he pondered for a moment and eventually shook his head, saying: ”It’s already a stalemate, with both sides locked in a struggle. Turning back to retreat would be akin to suicide, it’s a deadlock. The General is indeed strategically ingenious.”

”Not me!” Brumley waved his hand: ”The combat plan was devised by Admiral Gershkov long before the Transport Fleet set out. The AR-1861 Star System ambush is just one part. In my view, combat plans for several other Star Systems are even more meticulous and formidable. I am but a faithful executor.”

”Then, from the General’s perspective, are there any flaws in this plan?” As Brumley took steps towards the Central Command Platform, Maeda Youta hurriedly followed.

Brumley silently walked up to the command platform, hand resting on the semicircular railing, looking towards the front of the command room hall, the giant main screen of the SkyNet control console, and said softly: ”No battle plan can be invincible. However, in a battle between two forces, we do not need to be invincible; we just need to be more skillful than you.”

He turned his head to look at Maeda Youta, a confident smile on his face: ”In my view, the Chuckna Fleet is doomed!”

Maeda Youta flipped his wrist to check the time, and exchanged a smile with Brumley.

At most, wait another ten to twenty minutes, and Fleet A2 should arrive.

”Left rudder twelve hundred degrees, target tail fin locked!”

”Lock complete!”

”Main cannon charging complete!”

”Fire!”

As a white light flashed from the main cannon of the Holy Sword battleship, like a divine punishment from the skies, the white light accurately struck the tail fin of the Suss Transport Fleet’s Typhoon-class battleship.

The energy shield of the Suss battleship, which was entangled with Holy Light, was already flickering red. Hit by this main cannon shot, it instantly collapsed, blinked twice, and then disappeared completely. The tail fin of the battleship, struck by the light ball that penetrated the energy shield, shattered into flying debris of various sizes. The propulsion system was riddled with holes, the spewing ion stream struggled twice and then became silent.

The bandit army’s raid on the Suss Transport Fleet had entered its final stage.

Apart from two enemy ships still trying to flee, the rest were either destroyed or had lost power, drifting in the cosmos. The bandit army’s Sword space version mecha team was now crawling like bees all over these enemy ships that had lost their ability to resist.

With the situation calm, Fang Xiang gently sighed. The whole person, like a sharply defined iceberg, melted under the sunlight, appearing as exhausted as an office lady who had just finished overtime.

”What’s wrong?” Turning his head to see the Fatty next to him staring blankly at the computer, Fang Xiang curiously leaned over: ”What is this?”

”Here... it should be the jump coordinates of another Suss Fleet...” Fatty sighed, pointing at the interstellar map: ”With a front and rear pincer movement, if you were commanding the Chuckna Fleet, what would you do?!”

”Forcibly retreating... losses would exceed ninety percent!” Fang Xiang had already understood the issue in the battle situation, said seriously: ”If I were commanding, I would choose to fight on!”

”If we follow this strategy, and I do the simulation while you command...” Fatty pulled out a combat plan and simulation, asking: ”How many battleships can be preserved?”

Fang Xiang glanced at the plan, a slight smile unconsciously emerging on the corners of his lips. She had learned many times in personal simulation confrontations about this kind of rogue tactic. If Fatty were to sit nearby conducting simulations and plan formulation while she took care of the command link, probably the commander of the Suss Fleet would have a headache.

”Thirty percent!” Fang Xiang gave the answer.

”What if...” Fatty, like performing a magic trick, pulled out an auxiliary plan: ”we do it this way... how much can be preserved?”

Fang Xiang carefully examined the plan, then turned to gaze at Fatty.

”You’re ruthless!”
