The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1692: Chapter 1692: Them...

”Is there only one?” He Bi leaned on the handle of the detection platform and, after asking, looked up, gazing seriously and expectantly at Ji You.

Ji You’s mouth twitched: ”How many do you want?”

He Bi furrowed his brows, seeming a bit doubtful, and asked: ”Really, only one?”

Ji You was somewhat speechless and said: ”I too would have liked more, but just one nearly caused us all to crash.”

He Bi raised his hand, rubbing his brow, and said: ”This time was extremely risky. Next time we encounter such aliens, we need to plan thoroughly.”

Ji You looked at the blood still on the corner of He Bi’s mouth: ”Senior, do you want to lie in the repair cabin?”

He Bi did not refuse: ”Help me lie down in it first.”

Ji You controlled the security cabin system, allocated a repair cabin for He Bi, and personally helped him lie down inside; then, Ji You sat nearby without moving.

He Bi rolled his eyes, asking: ”Why are you standing here?”

Ji You said: ”Watching over you.”

He Bi: ”...”

He Bi pointed outside: ”Don’t you know what you look like? Standing here, you look like a Gate God, very unnerving. Hurry up, get out.”

Although the alien monster was already killed, the team was trapped in a cubicle, with everything outside unknown and many potential dangers lurking around. Ji You had too much to handle, and He Bi felt Ji You didn’t need to guard him.

Ji You glanced at He Bi and knew his thoughts. She said: ”I have probed with spiritual power, and no other alien monsters are approaching for now. I have also instructed Shen Changqing to activate the spaceship’s protective shield, temporarily preventing outside dangers from coming in. So, my most important task now is watching over you, timely recording, observing, and analyzing your experimental data.”

”Huh?” He Bi: ”???”

He Bi raised his hand, pointing at himself: ”So, I’ve become experimental material now?”

Realizing her phrasing was not tactful, Ji You dryly laughed and quickly explained: ”No, no, it’s not like that. I’m just genuinely concerned about you, so I feel the need to watch over you.”

He Bi gave Ji You a sidelong glance, not angry at all; instead, he pointed to the detector beside him: ”You actually do need to keep an eye on me. When I first entered the security cabin, this machine was influenced by it, and the data wasn’t accurate. You should check the reason.”

At this, Ji You frowned: ”The instrument can be affected by it?”

He Bi nodded: ”Yes, theoretically, the X-N3848’s security system has undergone countless experiments and verifications, proving it cannot be influenced by biological spiritual bodies, but now it was...”

Which means—

This alien monster’s spiritual power has surpassed human understanding and cognition.

He Bi still remembers now, when Principal Hong handed the X-N3848 to him, Principal Hong personally tried the security system in front of He Bi multiple times, using spiritual power—attack, infiltration, shielding... none of these could break the spaceship’s security system.

Therefore, He Bi had great confidence in the security system.

But now?

He Bi’s heart sank slightly.

Principal Hong said, there’s only one exception, and that’s—encountering them.

Them...

Are a kind of enemy that humanity currently cannot defeat with all their might. When encountering them, flee as fast as possible.

If you can’t flee fast enough, end it, use every means to kill yourself quickly.

This was the situation He Bi’s mentors and Principal Hong repeatedly reminded him to be careful about when entering the space rift.

But—

The situation He Bi and the younger teammates currently face puzzles and confuses him. If they were so terrifying, his group should have been dead already, yet they are still alive.

Thus—

He Bi’s heart tightened momentarily.

Considering this, He Bi has a rather grim guess—which is that the two monsters they encountered, the one Ji You consumed and the one he consumed, these two powerful and terrifying monsters were actually not them...

Not the alien race the mentors explicitly warned them about.

So—

What are these two then?

Feeling heavy-hearted, He Bi half-closed his eyes; space rift, other planes... indeed, peril is everywhere; you never know what you’ll encounter. You can only remind yourself to be cautious, cautious, always cautious.

Only caution makes the ship last for ten thousand years.

Thus, entering the space rift is an adventure with a very low chance of survival.

...

”Able to affect the security system’s values?” Ji You touched her chin, stared at the security cabin’s main control machine for a few seconds, and tried releasing a bit of spiritual power to the main control machine.

Then—

Ji You felt in front of her was just a heap of cold iron, with no place she could interfere with.

She remembered her first mecha training class, where everyone had a standard mecha to train with, but because her spiritual power was weak and spiritual silks few, she couldn’t use a mecha, and then—Teacher Mu kindly gave Ji You a castrated version of a small mecha.

That small mecha, at first Ji You could do nothing with it; not only could she not interfere, she couldn’t even log in to it, let alone pilot it.

As a result, Ji You had quite a few amusing incidents.

At that time, Ji You couldn’t control the small mecha purely because her spiritual power wasn’t strong enough, her strength not reaching the level needed to operate it.

Thus, that small mecha, to Ji You, was nothing but useless junk that only talked nonsense and mocked her.

So—

Is the current situation the same?

Is her spiritual power not strong enough?

Ji You squinted.

After consuming an entire alien monster, Ji You’s spiritual power and Physical Strength directly upgraded a level—especially spiritual power, which benefited greatly...

She even gained enough confidence to challenge Teacher Mu to a spiritual power contest.

Ahem...

Let’s skip mentioning that.

Ji You, unwilling to give up, tried releasing spiritual power interference again to the security system’s main control machine. The first time was a bit, the second time she used three-tenths of her spiritual power, and the third time, she used half her Strength...

After several attempts, Ji You stopped. Her forehead unknowingly broke into a sweat; she raised her hand, wiped off the beads of sweat, and lowered her head to think deeply.

No way.

With her current Spiritual Strength, she couldn’t interfere or affect the spaceship’s security system’s normal use, let alone alter security data.

So why can that monster?

Ji You pondered seriously; He Bi lay in the repair cabin with his eyes half-closed, healing his body, making the security cabin very quiet.

Time ticked away.

Unknowingly, He Bi fell asleep.

Ji You sat still, unmoving.

When the repair cabin emitted a ding sound, Ji You immediately raised her head, looking at the now awake He Bi inside: ”Jerk, you’re awake?”
