The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1652: Chapter 1652: The Big Guy

The surveillance is still operational at this moment, which makes Ji You and Chu Jiaojiao feel somewhat excited, yet at the same time, extremely tense, fearing that once they open the surveillance, they might see footage they do not wish to accept.

Ji You sits on the chair at the surveillance console, her elbow resting on the table, her fingertips trembling slightly. Then, she decisively pulls up the video from a day ago.

Chu Jiaojiao sits beside her, both of their breathing noticeably halting.

Then.

The footage starts playing. On the screen, views of various compartments of the spaceship appear—there’s the energy compartment, the power compartment, and the cockpit...

The operation of the entire spaceship seems to be running very smoothly, without the slightest bit of abnormality. The only abnormality is—

There’s nobody here!

Not a single person!

This is really strange!

When they see this footage, Ji You and Chu Jiaojiao’s pupils suddenly shrink. Then, the two exchange a glance, both sensing each other’s breathing becoming rapid.

Ji You raises her hand, signaling Chu Jiaojiao to stay calm, maintaining emotional stability.

Then.

She continues browsing the video, reviewing from 24 hours ago. Ji You doesn’t hesitate, promptly adjusting the monitoring time period to before entering the space rift. Then, Chu Jiaojiao and Ji You keep their eyes open, not daring to blink, and carefully review everything...

The situation before K-Q75 entered the space rift presents itself one by one before them. However, this part of the video shows no anomalies; the intense and thrilling fight between Shen Sheng, Ouyang Zhou, others, and the Star Beast is recorded completely, consistent with Ji You’s understanding.

Time pressing, Ji You quickly searches and finally finds the time Shen Sheng and the others disappeared in the surveillance!

It’s after entering the space rift.

Chu Jiaojiao opens her mouth slightly: ”...So, they disappeared completely after entering the space rift?”

Ji You hears this and remains silent, contemplating.

Chu Jiaojiao says: ”We encountered so many thrilling and risky things inside the passage wall, already unlucky enough; didn’t expect they got even more unlucky, disappearing right after entry?”

Joking around without a proper formality, seemingly not caring about the life and death of Shen Sheng and others, but Chu Jiaojiao’s fists have quietly clenched.

”Wrong.” Ji You’s tone slightly moves, even standing up unable to suppress herself: ”Look here, there are clear signs of splicing.”

Ji You points at the footage’s image and the time on it. Then she extracts the video before Chu Jiaojiao, comparing it bit by bit, saying: ”Here, within approximately 1 second, Shen Sheng walks to this point. Then, there’s no trace of her in the video. Subsequently, the rest of the people also seem to disappear... within this brief 1-3 seconds, definitely not exceeding 5 seconds, something happened that wasn’t captured by the surveillance.”

”When the surveillance resumes, actually several seconds have passed, which makes us see that although people are gone, the entire inside of the spaceship remains as orderly as ever.” Ji You furrows her brows, voicing her doubts.

Chu Jiaojiao tilts her head: ”So, was the surveillance manually severed?”

Ji You affirms: ”Absolutely.”

Chu Jiaojiao mouths slightly open, says: ”So, who severed it? The enemy? Or did Shen Sheng and the others do it themselves?”

Ji You frowns, says: ”It couldn’t be Shen Sheng and the others who severed it. Before entering the space rift, we mutually gave temporary login and control permissions for each other’s spaceships, implying she didn’t regard us as enemies but treated us as allies. Why would she sever the surveillance as a precaution against us? She definitely wouldn’t, and certainly her surveillance was not severed as a precaution against us. Imagine, in case something happened to us within the passage wall, X-N3848 survived, and Shen Sheng and the others happened to find our spaceship, wouldn’t you want them to know the cause of our death?”

”Obviously, yes.” Chu Jiaojiao unhesitatingly gives a definitive answer, saying: ”The cause of our death must let them know, not for anything else, even if it increases experience and lessons for them, for future humanity, it’s worth dying for.”

”That’s right.” Ji You nods, says: ”So, Shen Sheng wouldn’t guard against us. Unless absolutely necessary, she wouldn’t deliberately delete the video.”

Chu Jiaojiao furrows her brows: ”Then who deleted it?”

Ji You’s gaze unconsciously glances toward the door.

Chu Jiaojiao lowers her voice: ”Could it be it?”

Ji You shakes her head, says: ”Not sure, but probably not.” Saying this, Ji You gently shook her hands, spoke softly: ”Don’t you feel strange staying here? Just... can’t quite describe it but I feel a little uneasy even down to my hair strands.”

Chu Jiaojiao looked confused: ”No, don’t?”

Saying this, Chu Jiaojiao takes a deep sniff: ”Doesn’t feel strange, on the contrary, I even feel the air here is fresher, cough cough...”

”It should be because the Wind Oil Essence scent on us is diminishing.” Chu Jiaojiao pinches her nose, a bit disdainfully, says: ”My biggest dream now is to wash cleanly, change clothes, have a good meal, and finally enjoy a sound sleep.”

Listening to Chu Jiaojiao’s words, Ji You frowns, says: ”Is it my feeling wrong then?”

Chu Jiaojiao is extremely serious, says: ”No. Ji You, I rather believe your feeling isn’t wrong, the place we’re staying at is really quite uncanny.”

Ji You’s spiritual power is already blocked, but if Ji You is willing to take some risk, she can still communicate with the spiritual threads in the Spiritual World, wanting to voice her questions. Seeing her Six Strands each shrink back, hiding more securely than ever.

Ji You somewhat speechless, still pulls out the Fourth, asks carefully, ”Fourth, are you sure there are no other big guys around?”

Fourth cowers timidly, posture extremely cowardly, [Master, no big guys, there’s a small one outside.]

Ji You: ”Are you certain?”

Fourth hides under Boss’s belly, only a tail tip showing, [Mhm, no big guys, the big guy left long ago, Master, unless necessary, don’t disturb Sisi, Sisi is very afraid, doesn’t want to come out.]

Upon hearing this, Ji You’s expression shakes: ”Left?”

Fourth’s tail tip quivers, [The lingering presence left behind is also very terrifying...]

Ji You suddenly understands why she felt uncomfortable all over! So, there once was some big entity in the surveillance room, even a tiny trace left behind was enough to scare her Six Strands into hiding?

Watching Ji You’s expression change continually, becoming more unpleasant, Chu Jiaojiao feels as if the chair beneath her becomes prickly, hurriedly asks: ”What’s wrong?”

Ji You lifts her head, looks toward Chu Jiaojiao, says: ”Jiaojiao, did you truly feel nothing unusual at all?”

”Mhm.” Chu Jiaojiao nods.

Ji You: ”Even a tiny bit? Not even the slightest bit of strangeness felt?”

Chu Jiaojiao raises her hand, scratches her head: ”A little, it’s just the Wind Oil Essence’s scent is overwhelming, I almost can’t stand it anymore.”

Ji You: ”...”
