The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1090: Chapter 1090: News Arrives

The robot politely replied, ”Classmate, the price has not been raised. This is the school’s standard pricing. Ever since the school established the rules for borrowing materials from the library, these regulations and the borrowing prices have remained unchanged for a hundred years.”

Ji You: ”...”

The robot smiled and said, ”If you don’t proceed, I’ll assist the next person.”

Ji You gritted her teeth, ”Proceed!”

It’s only 50,000 University Alliance points,

as if I don’t have them.

After Ji You curiously said something, the robot immediately said, ”Please fill in your information and pay the borrowing fee here.”

Ji You, as instructed, filled in her details. Just as the robot was about to deduct Ji You’s 50,000 points, suddenly——

[Beep! Beep! Beep!]

[Your point balance is insufficient. Please work harder.]

Ji You: ”...”

Ji You’s face turned slightly dark. She held her forehead with one hand and smiled at the robot, ”Sorry, I didn’t realize... that my points were so few. So— I won’t be applying for a pass today.”

”Wait...” The robot suddenly issued a prompt, then asked, ”Classmate, is your name Ji You? Are you a student from the 131st Combat Department? The Ji You ranked 100th in the University Alliance?”

Ji You tilted her head, ”Y-yes?”

The robot smiled, ”Congratulations, Ji You, you will gain direct reading access to all areas of the library.”

Ji You: ”!!!”

Ji You exclaimed in shock, ”Are you sure?”

The robot smiled, ”I’m sure.”

Ji You was puzzled, ”Wasn’t it said that this paid rule has been unchanged for over 100 years?”

Another robot smiled and replied, ”We did not make an exception for you. But the school has some encouragements for outstanding performances, and giving library access is one of them.”

Ji You suddenly understood that last time, the rewards and benefits promised by Principal Hong and Director Wang, though not verbally expressed much, had silently been delivered.

Thinking this, Ji You felt that secretly criticizing Principal Hong and Director Wang seemed a bit ungrateful.

Then.

Seeing Ji You seemed to be contemplating something, the robot asked again, ”Ji You, do you want to activate the reading access now?”

Ji You nodded, ”Yes.”

Why miss out on a good deal?

Of course, she had to activate it.

After a bit of thought, Ji You said, ”Please open the A, B, C, and D resource areas for me.”

Robot: ”Okay.”

Soon, Ji You completed the process. She directly took the floating elevator to the B-level resource area. Once inside, Ji You opted to search for information and, after waiting for a while, she found information about Sparrow Yellow.

Sparrow Yellow—a lump naturally developed inside a peacock bird’s body, formed after a long period of maturation. It detailed many effects and cautions.

Ji You skipped all of these, focusing intently on the information about the Star Beast Crystal.

Unfortunately,

there was not a single piece of related information.

Then.

Ji You turned to Area A. Area A’s library was vast, and looking around felt endless; relying on a single person to find books would be impossible in a short time.

Thankfully, there was an artificial intelligence search function.

With her eyes wide open and filled with great anticipation, Ji You kept her gaze on the holographic screen in front of her.

When the search countdown was over, the results displayed: [Search yielded zero results. Please use keywords to try again or change the search term.]

Ji You furrowed her brow tightly.

Nothing.

How could there be nothing?

Could it be a prohibited item? Was it kept hidden by the Alliance because it wasn’t allowed to appear?

What exactly is it?

Is it prohibited due to being extremely dangerous, as Teacher Mu Jianling said, unsuitable for ordinary people? Or is it the object representing other dangers, despite being non-threatening itself?

...

Ji You gave up on searching about the Star Beast Crystal.

Then.

She turned around and left the library.

By this time, the sun had completely set on Lanyue Star, and the darkness had enveloped the entire planet. From afar, stars could be seen, and nearby satellites emitted a faint glow.

Arriving at the training room lobby, Ji You found that Chu Jiaojiao, Sheng Qingyan, and others had not yet emerged from their individual training rooms, which encouraged her:

—All the little friends are working hard, not a single one is wasting time.

After continuously using spiritual power to compress the particle cannon, Ji You was already in a state of extreme exhaustion, and having exerted more energy in the library, she could no longer engage in independent training.

Ji You contemplated it and decided to go back and rest.

She immediately took a step towards the exit of the training room. As soon as she stepped out, she heard a message alert from her Light Computer, and upon hearing this unique alert, her eyes lit up:

”Sister Liya!”

She set different message alerts for Xie Lingzhi, Xie Chuanqiong, Liya, Grandma Jenny, Uncle Xie Yi, Ryan, and Senior Shi Ya. Now, hearing a message from long-absent Sister Liya, Ji You was so excited that she jumped three feet high!

Immediately, Ji You opened the message: [You, Aqiong and I encountered some trouble. The mission failed, and we need about half a month to recuperate before returning. Don’t worry.]

The smile froze on Ji You’s lips: ”Failed?”

Ji You promptly replied: [Sister Liya, where are you and Brother Qiong? Are you safe right now? Do you need money or supplies? Is it convenient to call now?]

second.

seconds.

seconds.

...

Several minutes passed, and just as Ji You’s brow furrowed tight enough to crush a fly, Sister Liya finally replied: [Safe, lacking nothing, not convenient. No need to worry about us.]

Ji You pressed her lips.

Sister Liya and Brother Qiong had been out of contact since doing tasks last semester, often unreachable. Whether they shielded their contact numbers on purpose, or ventured into places beyond Star Network signals, remained unknown.

Overall, Ji You was extremely worried.

Worried to such an extent she couldn’t do anything about it.

Now, having finally received an active message from Sister Liya, some of Ji You’s anxiety was relieved, but until seeing them personally, she couldn’t completely shake it off.

Ji You sent another message, asking Sister Liya to contact her whenever possible.

Then.

After about ten minutes, she received a reply: [Okay.]

A single simple word.

Ji You, frowning, exited the training room building. She found a floating car and headed towards Xie Lingzhi’s grade’s laboratory. She turned the floating car’s speed to the maximum, reaching the Space Science Experiment Building where Xie Lingzhi was in less than three minutes.
