Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 864: Forgotten Places

In the Phoenix Realm, Feltia [2] was upset after he searched the realm for the location of the Divine Phoenix Totem without success. ”Where could the totem be hiding? Feng Yichen was sure that the totem returned to this realm, but I have already searched almost the entire area to no avail. Do you detect any hidden places in this realm, Mei?”

[Master, the only area you havenʼt checked is the Phoenix Palace. However, you wonʼt be able to enter there without Feng Jiuʼs or Feng Tianʼs permission, so you have to meet one of them first.]

Feltia [2] shook his head slightly. ”If I tell them that I want to look for the Divine Phoenix Totem there, they wonʼt be willing to let me in, and they will order their race members to look for it there.”

[Well? The Divine Phoenix Totem is a treasure belonging to the Phoenix Race, so itʼs natural that they would want to obtain it, right?]

”Yeah.” Feltia [2] then flew to the icy lake. ”I feel my ice elemental law will break through to the intermediate stage soon, so Iʼll improve it first, and Iʼll look for the totem again later.”

Upon arrival, Feltia [2] looked at Zhang Yue, who was immersed in his cultivation. He didnʼt disturb his big sister and dove directly into the icy lake.

Zhang Fei [4] left the three female demons resting in the room and went to meet Feng Yao on the flying artifactʼs hull. ”Do you know anything about the Temple of Forgotten Flames and the Forgotten Land?”

”Hmm?” Feng Yao turned to Zhang Fei [4] and stared at him for a while. ”I donʼt know where you got the information about those two places, especially since Ma Kuangyu and Nalan Yushu shouldnʼt know about either of them, but I can tell you that they are connected to each other, and both places are much older than the Paradise Realm. If you manage to find the Forgotten Land, you will find the Temple of Forgotten Flames.”

”Older than the Paradise Realm?” Zhang Fei [4] was shocked. ”Doesnʼt that mean that people from the Forgotten Land are much stronger than the cultivators there?”

”Yes.” Feng Yao nodded at him. ”Theyʼre strong because theyʼre direct descendants of the ancients; youʼll see for yourself if you go there and meet them.”

”The ancients, huh?” Zhang Fei [4] mumbled. ”Do you know the way to that place?”

”I know, but I wonʼt tell you about it, and you have to find your own way to get there. Only a few people in the Paradise Realm know about the Forgotten Land and the way to get there.” Feng Yaoʼs answer disappointed Zhang Fei [4], but he knew that the place was still far from his reach. ”If you can go to that place and meet the mysterious merchant who appears once every hundred years, you can buy many valuable items from that person. However, you need a special token, and you have to pass several tests to get it.”

Zhang Fei [4] smiled faintly because he had obtained the Spirit Merchant Token from the system, and he also obtained the Golden Auction Token for attending the auction at that place. ”What mysteries lie within the Temple of Forgotten Flames?”

”Sigh.” Feng Yao released a soft sigh. ”Iʼve visited the Temple of Forgotten Flames, but it was completely empty.”

Zhang Fei [4] was perplexed by this, as the system gave him 1/6 of the map that led to the Temple of Forgotten Flames, and Murong Mengying found another part of the map at the Sun Tower. He believed the system would never give him anything useless, so he was sure there was something hidden there.

Huo Ling suddenly came out of Feng Yaoʼs body and glared at Zhang Fei [4], making him smile bitterly at her attitude. ”The Temple of Forgotten Flames was built by a primordial living being, and it became the home of the Primordial Flames.”

”Primordial living beings and primordial flames.” Even though he had seen many things in the Era of the Beginning, Zhang Fei [4] was still shocked to hear these two.

Huo Ling then continued. ”The primordial flames were the lifeblood of the Forgotten Land, and they were also the source of power for living beings with fire elements. Unfortunately, the flames disappeared several million years ago, and no outsiders came to that place again after that. As time went by, that place became a forgotten place, and the people there had forgotten about the flames.”

Huo Lingʼs words made Zhang Fei [4] realize several things. ”Did the people from the Forgotten Land seal their place on purpose? Even though the flames have disappeared, that place is ancient. There are some intriguing things there too, so they shouldnʼt forget about that place, right?”

”They didnʼt seal their place, and it disappeared from the public by itself.” Zhang Fei [4] immediately suspected that the will of the universe had purposely hidden the place from the public after the primordial flames disappeared. ”That place reappeared after some cultivators from the Paradise Realm accidentally found their way there, but they hid the route from the public, so only a handful of people knew about it.”

”Thank you for all that information, Huo Ling.” The female fire spirit didnʼt say anything and entered Feng Yaoʼs body again, making Zhang Fei [4] a little annoyed. ”I donʼt know what happened to the primordial flames or how they disappeared, but Iʼm sure thereʼs something hidden in the Temple of Forgotten Flames. Once I become strong and ascend to the Paradise Realm, Iʼll go look for those two places.”

”Hehe.” Feng Yao chuckled at Zhang Fei [4]ʼs determination. ”I donʼt know how you can be so sure thereʼs something hidden there, but Iʼll wait for you to solve all the mysteries. So, are you having trouble on the Sky Dragon Island?”

”Did Feng Qingmeng tell you anything?” Feng Yao responded to Zhang Fei [4] with a smile. ”I wasnʼt looking for trouble with them, but Long Aotian and his Dragon Clan came and looked for trouble with me. That old man thought your Phoenix Clan would protect me from them, and he ordered his clan members to prepare for war with your clan.”

Feng Yao shook her head. ”Even Long Qiang, the patriarch of the main Dragon Clan, and his ancestors donʼt dare to find trouble with my Phoenix Clan. Yet, a fool like Long Aotian wants to go to war with us, which means he seeks death and destruction for the branch Dragon Clan. By the way, you donʼt need to worry about them; instead, concentrate on that old man. Feng Xishui will take care of his members if they truly want to go to war with us.”

”Wonʼt that affect your Phoenix Clanʼs relationship with the main Dragon Clan?”

Feng Yao shrugged her shoulders. ”You may not know this, but my Phoenix Clan has always been at odds with the Main Dragon Clan. Long Qiangʼs ancestors were powerful, but Feng Shen and Feng Xueying managed to defeat them in the past, and their injuries should not have been fully recovered.”

”What happened between the two clans?”

”The pride of the dragons.” Zhang Fei [4] raised his eyebrows. ”The dragons are the most arrogant among all the mystical beasts, and they think that they are the strongest among us, especially because of the existence of the five-clawed golden dragon. As a result, they attempted to subjugate other mystical beast races, but they were met with crushing defeats from several races, including from my Phoenix Clan. Since then, Long Qiang and his dragon clan have not dared to attack us, and we have not retaliated against them either. Since Long Aotian thought he could defeat us, I will let Feng Xishui teach him a lesson that he will never forget for the rest of his life.”

Zhang Fei [4] nodded to Feng Yao. ”In that case, I will focus on Long Aotian and Long Qichao, and Senior Xishui can take care of the rest of them.”

”What are your plans for those two men?”

”Youʼll find out soon.” Zhang Fei [4] immediately left Feng Yao and returned to his room.

[Master, how did that kid know about those two places?] Huo Ling suddenly asked.

”There are many secrets inside him, and one of them tells him about the two places. You donʼt need to dwell on this matter, and we will know the answer in the future.” Feng Yao immediately contacted Feng Xishui, asking him to prepare for action if the Dragon Clan dared to attack their Phoenix Clan. She also reached out to several others for additional support.

Somewhere in the Sky Dragon Realm, Feng Xishui smiled to himself as he downed a bottle of wine.

”Why are you suddenly smiling to yourself?” A young man with fiery red hair posed the question.

Feng Xishui pointed at the Dragon Clan. ”Look over there, Feng Yongheng. Those giant worms looked for trouble with our princessʼs lover first, but they didnʼt want to repent for their mistake. Instead, they planned to wage a war with our Phoenix Clan if we helped her lover, and she asked me to take care of them.”

”Hahahaha!” Feng Yongheng laughed out loud. ”Long Aotian will be furious if you call him a giant worm in front of him! Speaking of that kid, he is quite interesting, and his alchemy skills surpass Feng Shanxi, but I find it difficult to believe that our princess chose him as her lover.”

”I also found it difficult to believe at first, but Iʼve been with that kid for a while now.” Feng Xishui took another bottle of wine and downed it before continuing. ”Have you ever met a cultivator at his level who was able to face a cultivator at the 1-Moon Divine Ascension Realm?”

”Hmm?” Feng Yongheng raised his eyebrows in disbelief, prompting Feng Xishui to explain to him about Zhang Fei [4]ʼs fight with Da Xiongmao and the other natural races. ”Is all that true?”

Feng Xishui nodded at him. ”That kid couldnʼt kill them directly because of the sheer difference in their strengths, but his abilities and speed allowed him to defeat them. If he breaks through to the Seven Divine Realms in the future, I believe he will surpass all the cultivators in the upper realms, and he will no longer have any opponents at that time. He will make a move against Long Aotian soon, so help me prepare our people. We will respond if the Dragon Clan attacks us.”

”Letʼs go.”

In the Blazing Phoenix Sect, Feng Qingmeng also received orders from Feng Yao. She immediately gathered all the elders of the sect, including Feng Shanxi. She then informed them about their princessʼs order.

”Are we really going to war with the Dragon Clan, Sect Master?”

”Arenʼt our princessʼs orders clear, Feng Xun?” Feng Qingmeng asked back. ”However, we will not move immediately, and we will only move if the Dragon Clan invades our clan, so I want all of you to prepare from now on. As for our members in our residence, Feng Xishui and Feng Yongheng will prepare them. Leave now and prepare everything.”

”Yes, Sect Master.”

Almost all of them immediately moved to carry out the order, but Feng Shanxi remained in the room. ”This realm has been peaceful for so long, but the arrival of that kid changed the situation in a single day, and our princess was even willing to go to war with the Dragon Clan for him.”

”All of this happened because of Long Qichaoʼs foolishness.” Feng Qingmeng replied with a soft sigh. ”If he hadnʼt sent Long Jishan and Long Yingwu to suppress that kid, he wouldnʼt have humiliated the Dragon Clan in public, and the way he treated Long Aotian earlier showed that he was vengeful. By the way, the effects of his pills are beneficial to us, so you have to meet him at our residence to get them, though they are priced at eleven million blue jewels.”

”All right, I will meet him after I take care of some things.”

After Feng Shanxi left, Feng Qingmeng went to the side of the window, watching the situation on the floating island from her room. ”What will happen next? Will the Dragon Clan disappear from this realm?”

Zhang Fei [5], who was cultivating in his room, immediately opened his eyes. He then left his room, but he found Ning Zhuanʼer waiting in front of him. ”Were you waiting for me?”

”Yes, Senior Brother.” Ning Zhuanʼer answered softly. ”I wanted to ask you about alchemy, but you were busy cultivating, so I waited here.”

Zhang Fei [5] then sat in front of Ning Zhuanʼer. ”What do you want to ask me?”

Ning Zhuanʼer immediately asked him several questions, and Zhang Fei [5] patiently answered each one. ”Is it okay if I fail?”

”Zhuanʼer, I failed many times when I first learned alchemy.” Zhang Fei [5] then took Ning Zhuanʼerʼs hand, causing her to blush. ”Failure is a process for achieving success, so it doesnʼt matter if you fail too many times. However, you should not be disappointed by your failure, especially since it will drag you down. Instead, use your failures to motivate and learn from them, and you will be able to become a skilled alchemist.

”Uhm.” Ning Zhuanʼer shyly nodded. ”So, what should I do now?”

Zhang Fei [5] then took out his furnace and several bundles of herbs, and he also shared a pill recipe with Ning Zhuanʼer. ”These herbs are the ingredients for concocting the pill, but you should study the recipe first. Once you are sure you understand the recipe, you can use them to concoct the pill. You donʼt need to focus on making the highest-grade pill; just attempt to make it without worrying about its grade. Once you have successfully concocted it once, you can try to concoct it again to get a better grade, and you will continue to do so until you have successfully concocted the best one.”

”I understand, Senior Brother.” Ning Zhuanʼer immediately closed her eyes and read the pill recipe in her mind. ʼFive Elemental Pills? Where did senior brother Fei get this recipe from?ʼ

Zhang Fei [5] smiled as Ning Zhuanʼerʼs expression turned serious, but he then turned to the two women who had just arrived. ”Why did you two come here at this hour?”

”Are you interested in taking Zhuanʼer as your disciple?” Feng Shanxi inquired, observing the girl closely.

Zhang Fei [5] nodded at her. ”Zhuanʼerʼs talent in cultivation and alchemy is excellent, so I thought of taking her with me. However, she is your disciple, so I cannot do it without your consent.”

”Your alchemy skills are far better than mine, and Zhuanʼer is lucky if you want to take her as your disciple, so I will not hinder your intentions for her.” Feng Shanxi then took out a bag of blue jewels and asked. ”Can I buy your pills?”

Zhang Fei [5] immediately received the bag and handed two bottles of pills to Feng Shanxi, making her smile with joy. ”Zhenxia wants to talk to you about alchemy, so Iʼll leave her here.”

”All right.” After Feng Shanxi left, Zhang Fei asked Long Zhenxia. ”What do you want to ask me?”

Long Zhenxia first sat by their side before answering Zhang Fei [5]. ”I know you would rather not teach your alchemy techniques to outsiders, but I really want to improve my skills in alchemy, so I hope you can teach it to me.”

”No.” Zhang Fei [5] immediately refused. ”Iʼve told you the conditions for learning my alchemy techniques, and you canʼt meet them, so I wonʼt teach you.”

Long Zhenxia bit her lower lip and squeezed her hands together. ”Are you willing to teach me if I accept your conditions?”
