Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 838: Some Truth

[Young demon, we donʼt have the authority to tell you anything, so you can go to the room where our demon race statues are.] The male demon figure answered Zhang Xiaolong [3].

The female demon figure informed him as well. [Young demon, the ten demon seeds are the core of our demon race, and you can meet our first emperor to learn more about them.]

”In that case, I will go to that room right now, two seniors.”

The two demons looked at Zhang Xiaolong [3] as he walked away. They exchanged glances and nodded to each other before disappearing from the room again.

Just like before, Zhang Xiaolong [3] found the statue of the ten-tailed fox in the middle of the next room, with statues of mythical beasts from all races standing around. However, he noticed something different about their position, and he discovered two statues that were not there before.

Zhang Xiaolong [3] jumped onto the head of the statue of the ten-tailed fox, and he looked to the left side of the room, where he found a statue of a completely black beast with bloodshot eyes above that area. Under the statue, statues of mythical beasts that are synonymous with evil, such as Qiongqi, Taowu, Taotie, Hundun, and various others, are lined up neatly.

Zhang Xiaolong [3] then turned to the right area, where he found a statue of a completely white beast with golden eyes above it. Under the statue, statues of mythical beasts that are synonymous with righteousness, such as the five-clawed golden dragon, the phoenix, the azure dragon, the black tortoise, the vermilion bird, the white tiger, the qilin, and so on, are lined up neatly.

”Why did this place change from before? What exactly happened between the beasts in the past?” Zhang Xiaolong [3] repeatedly looked at both sides. ”Their positions indicated that they were involved in a war between evil and righteous in the past, and the ten-tailed fox seemed to be their pacifier. If that was true, the old foxʼs origins were not as simple as Grandpa Oliver and the others told me, and he should have come from a more distant era.”

{You are right, Zhang Fei.} Zhang Xiaolong [3] immediately turned to the woman, who was the manifestation of the will of the universe. {The ten-tailed fox actually came from a more distant era, and its strength was almost on par with the two primordial beasts.}

”Are you kidding me?” Zhang Xiaolong [3] asked in a high pitch. ”How could the old foxʼs strength be almost on par with the two primordial beasts? Wasnʼt he born as a result of the collective hope and power of all the fox races? The two primordial beasts were the first to be born, and their strength was too strong, so it was impossible for his strength to be close to theirs, right?”

{Iʼm not joking with you.} The woman replied with a shake of her head. {In the past, the ten-tailed foxʼs strength was almost on par with the two primordial beasts, but it wasnʼt easy for him to reach that stage. I wonʼt explain the details to you, and you will know everything in the future, but first, you must find every fragment of his soul. Once you find all of them and merge with them, you will understand his true origin and the purpose of his birth.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] frowned at the woman, but the will of the universe did not intend to say anything. ”At least, you can tell me about the two primordial beasts, right? What kind of beasts are these two exactly?”

{The light beast was born from Yang, and I named it the Primordial Genesis Beast. This black beast was born from Yin, and I named it the Primordial Nihility Beast. The Yin and Yang are the essence of this universe and all living things in it, and they should balance each other out. However, they are actually trying to dominate each other, leading to chaos in this universe.}

”The origin and the nothingness, huh?” Zhang Xiaolong [3] muttered to himself.

The woman then continued. {As the name suggests, all of the Primordial Nihility Beastʼs abilities are related to destruction and nothingness. In contrast, all of the Primordial Genesis Beastʼs abilities are related to creation and birth. The two beasts were born with opposite characters, which caused a clash between the two in the past. After the birth of the two primordial beasts, the evil and righteous beasts were also born in this universe, but they were divided into two camps. Since then, the war between evil and righteousness continued for a long time, but the birth of the ten-tailed fox is what stopped the war. However, the war never truly ends, and as long as they are still alive, there is a possibility that it will happen again one day in the future.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] inhaled deeply before posing a question. ”So, to completely end the war, the two primordial beasts must die, right?”

{Yes.} The woman answered with a nod. {However, itʼs important to keep in mind that if their leader dies, the pack will descend into chaos, and if no one maintains control, they will become even more wild and violent. The two primordial beasts have always controlled those beasts, preventing their war from spreading across the universe. If they didnʼt do that, this universe would have been destroyed long ago. The only living creature that has the ability to put their war to an end is you, especially since you are the heir of the ten-tailed fox.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] never liked all the talk about him being the successor of the ten-tailed fox and such, and he just wanted to enjoy a safe and peaceful life with his loved ones. ”Why me? Tian Baitian and Tian Baixing also have the potential to become the next ten-tailed fox, right? We can say that each of them is half him, and they are much stronger than me, so they are more worthy of carrying out the task, right?”

{Tian Baitan and Tian Baixing do have a chance to become the successors of the ten-tailed fox, but they will never be able to surpass him, and they will never be able to stop the war.} Zhang Xiaolong [3] frowned at the woman. {They only have the instincts of beasts, so they lack humanity, and they donʼt have your evil side.}

”Do you really think Iʼm evil?”

{Yes, you are evil. Fortunately, you still retain your humanity, or you would become pure evil.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] frowned deeper. ”How can I be pure evil? Iʼm just a lust demon, and there are many demons that are more evil than me.”

{Here.} The woman pointed at Zhang Xiaolong [3]ʼs chest. {The cursed demon heart will not choose you if you lack evil within you, and it will enhance your evil side. It is a source of overwhelming power and an inescapable curse, constantly corrupting its host with darkness. It once belonged to an ancient demon race that refused to perish. It is filled with eternal vengeance, twisting the nature of whoever possesses it.}

Hearing that, Zhang Xiaolong [3] clutched his chest and felt his heart throb. He had never wanted the cursed demon heart, and it had invaded his body as soon as he received the quest reward. Moreover, the demon heart had swallowed his heart, so it was now his heart, and he could not possibly get rid of it. ”Am I really going to become pure evil?”

{If you lose your humanity, you will become pure evil. Therefore, you must not lose your humanity, or you will become a threat to this universe and all its inhabitants}

”I know.” Zhang Xiaolong [3] then jumped down from the ten-tailed fox statue and walked to the second room, where the statues of the demons were located.

The woman followed behind Zhang Xiaolong [3] while watching him with a serious expression, and she felt helpless about his cursed demon heart.

Arriving at the second room, Zhang Xiaolong [3] immediately approached the statue in the middle and stood in front of it. The demon seed in his body immediately reacted, making his heart beat faster.

Soon, a male figure similar to the figure from the statue appeared in front of Zhang Xiaolong [3] and looked at him with his bloodshot eyes. [I have been waiting for a long time for the person who will inherit my demon seeds, but unfortunately, you only inherited one out of ten, so you will never be able to utilize their full power.]

Zhang Xiaolong [3] turned to the woman, who immediately nodded at him. He then opened the portal to the training space, and nine demons walked out of it at the same time.

Janette, Balena, Ilsath, Orith, Ursula, Yan Zhixiu, Angela, Eve, and Fyr immediately stood behind Zhang Xiaolong [3].

The demon nodded in understanding after he observed the nine female demons. [The ten demon seeds should belong to one person, but I didnʼt expect that they would choose ten different demons as their new masters. However, the nine of them are your women, and the bond between you is quite strong. As long as they are by your side, you will be able to maximize their strength, and you will be unrivaled among the demons. However, I can feel other powers within you, and one of them is the power of light, which makes me feel strange.]

”Senior, you are the first demon born in this universe, right?”

[Yes.]

”Since you are the first demon, you should be a Primordial Demon, and you should have almighty power, right?” The demon nodded to Zhang Xiaolong [3]. ”How could you die with such great power?”

The demon turned to the woman before answering Zhang Xiaolong [3]. [In the past, my strength was indeed the highest among the demons, but there were still other living creatures with much greater strength than me. One of them attacked my demon races, and I died in its hands.]

”It?” Zhang Xiaolong [3] understood it immediately. ”Donʼt tell me that you and your demon race died at the hands of the Primordial Nihility Beast.”

[The Primordial Nihility Beast attacked us and destroyed my demon races.] The demon then looked at the seven statues on the side of the room. [They were my seven loyal followers, and they fought with all their might to stop the beast. Unfortunately, the beastʼs power was insurmountable at the time, resulting in their death as it swallowed them. The beast absorbed their power, and it also absorbed my power after swallowing me.]

”Please forgive me; I didnʼt mean to bring up those bad memories.” Zhang Xiaolong [3] sincerely spoke.

[Itʼs fine; weʼre long dead.] Zhang Xiaolong [3] was confused because of that, but the demon quickly clarified his doubts. [Before the beast swallowed me, I had already separated the ten demon seeds from my body, and I sent them to distant realms randomly.]

”I see.” Zhang Xiaolong [3] then asked again. ”Are there other demon ranks after the emperor rank, Senior?”

[The lesser-to-emperor ranks are mortal demon ranks; there are seven other demon ranks after that, which we call the seven transcendent demon ranks.]

”What are the names of the seven demon ranks, Senior?”

[Demon Monarch, Demon Overlord, Demon Venerable, Demon Saint, Half-Step Demon God, Demon God, Primordial Demon.] The demon let out a soft sigh before continuing. [Unfortunately, your current world is too weak, and you will never be able to reach that stage. If you want to reach that stage, you must go to the next world. Even if you succeed in going to the next world, you still need some things to become a demon monarch, and the demon essence you need will be even greater.

”What else do I need besides the demon essence?”

The demon touched Zhang Xiaolong [3]ʼs forehead and shared something with him. [When you arrive in the next world, you can look for them there. However, their numbers are too rare, so you might have a challenging time finding them. My time is up, and I will disappear soon.]

Zhang Xiaolong [3] nodded in understanding. ”Thank you for all the information you provided, Senior.”

The demon nodded and touched Zhang Xiaolong [3]ʼs chest. [Young demon, you are a special existence in this vast universe. I believe you will surpass me and become a greater demon. If you succeed in surpassing me, I hope you are willing to unite all the demon races and lead them into a better life. However, you have to be careful because the Primordial Nihility Beast will target you, and it will devour you to gain your power.]

”Thank you for your advice, Senior.” After the demon disappeared, Zhang Xiaolong [3] sent the female demons back to the training space; his other clones immediately brought them back to the Nine Hells Darkland. He then glanced at the woman and posed a question. ”Were you the one who created the boundaries between the three mortal realms and the Paradise Realm?”

The woman nodded at him. {I did create the boundaries, and I did that for the survival of the three mortal realms. As you already know, there are several ancient mythical beasts living behind the boundaries, and I used the boundaries to imprison them there.}

”Are they planning to attack the three mortal realms? Are they doing that because of the ten demon seeds?”

{Thatʼs right.} The woman answered with a nod. {The two primordial beasts continue to exist today, with the Primordial Nihility Beast persistently striving to destroy this universe. The ten devil seeds contain the power of the primordial demon, and the beast will become stronger if it obtains them. Therefore, it sent those ancient mythical beasts to look for them, and I was forced to create the boundaries, which cut off the connection between the three mortal realms and the Paradise Realm.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] nodded with a serious expression, but he suddenly remembered something. ”What about the Ancient Devouring Demon Beast and the Abyssal Leviathan Demon? How could both of them be in the Nine Stars Realm and the Blue Water Realm?”

{I didnʼt seal the Ancient Devouring Demon Beast in the Nine Stars Realm, and a demon from the Paradise Realm brought the beast to that realm.} Zhang Xiaolong [3] raised his eyebrows. {The beast in that realm was the last of its kin, and the Primordial Nihility Beast was after it. Thus, the demon deliberately brought the beast to that realm and sealed it there to protect it from the Primordial Nihility Beast. As for the Abyssal Leviathan Demon, it was the demonʼs mount, and he purposely left it in the Blue Water Realm because he almost died at that time.}

”So, the demon who sealed the Ancient Devouring Beast in the Nine Stars Realm is dead now?” The woman nodded in response to Zhang Xiaolong [3]ʼs question. ”By the way, you should know about the little girl who killed and resurrected me, right? Do you know about her whereabouts?”

{The little girlʼs existence has gone beyond this universe, and I canʼt track her anywhere because of it.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] was completely shocked to hear that. ”How could a human possibly transcend the universe? Doesnʼt that mean the little girl is the strongest being in the universe?”

{Zhang Fei, I know you are curious about that little girl, but you donʼt need to think about her for now, especially since she is beyond your and my reach. Your road ahead is still too long, so you should focus on everything in front of you, and you donʼt need to worry about everything that is still far ahead.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] sighed softly as he nodded. ”Hey, are there any other realms after the Paradise Realm?”

{I wonʼt answer this question, and youʼll know everything when youʼre ready.}

Zhang Xiaolong [3] was not stupid, and he immediately knew that his guess was correct that there were other realms after the Paradise Realm. ”I have a few last questions. What exactly happened on Earth? What kind of calamity hit Earth in the past? How did the Qi disappear from that planet?”
