The Good for Nothing Seventh Young Lady

Chapter 340 – Deal (3)

Shen Yanxiao was almost about to leave the lounge when she heard the word “Phoenix,” her footsteps immediately stopped.

She truly didn’t know what to think about this situation. Xiu had just told her that the Inflammation Grass was growing in the Phoenix’s nest. And this night, she actually heard about some news about a Phoenix? In order to obtain the Inflammation Grass, Shen Yanxiao immediately decided to first listen to the young man’s words, then she could make a plan later.

However…

Rank eight Phoenix?

According to what Xiu had said, Phoenixes would already be in the rank eight to nine when they were born. Then, could it be that the employer’s goal was a newly born cub?

Shen Yanxiao slightly frowned, she felt something was wrong.

Du Lang was also stunned for a moment upon hearing the word Phoenix.

Phoenix, this kind of magical beast was only heard in rumors by most of the people. Hundreds of years had already passed now and they had never seen what a real Phoenix looked like. And now, someone actually released a task to kill a Phoenix? This was really something hard to believe.

“Are you sure you didn’t hear it wrong?” Du Lang doubtedly asked.

The young man nodded, “I’m sure! That employer gave a high commission. It’s not just our mercenary corps. As far as I know, more than ten mid-sized mercenary corps in Black City had also received the same task.”

Du Lang touched his chin. Since the person who had issued the task dared to spread it among a lot of mercenary corps, it seemed that the news was true. Because, even if the news was false and the task failed, the employer still needed to pay according to the original price to each mercenary corps that would participate in this task.

But…

Phoenix …

“No one has seen a Phoenix for hundreds of years. All information about it could only be seen from books. Since the man can find the news about a Phoenix, we might as well go with him.” As mercenaries, gold coins were their ultimate pursuit, as for the other things, they weren’t interested in them very much.

Rank eight magical beasts were regarded as high level magical beasts. The general mid-sized mercenary corps had no way to kill them alone, so the other side could only hire a lot of mid-sized mercenary corps in Black City together.

This action wasn’t a small move, ah.

“Xiu, don’t you think it’s strange?” Shen Yanxiao was listening quietly in the side, and the more she heard, the more she felt something was amiss.

“Rank eight Phoenix is obviously just a cub. Do you think a newly born cub would appear on its own?” Shen Yanxiao frowned slightly, she finally knew why she was feeling strange. A newly born beast, there must be a guardian guarding around it. And that would be more or less an adult Phoenix, and the lowest level it could be was the level of a Mythological Beast. But the news that the Cave Wolves Mercenary Corps had received only mentioned a rank eight Phoenix, which was obviously very illogical.

It was absolutely impossible for the cub to appear alone unless it was separated from its parents shortly after its birth.

But since the magical beasts had a strong sense of smell, there was no way they could possibly lose their children. Even if they were seven hundred or eight hundred miles away, they could still find their children by scent alone.

‘It is clear that there are some problems with the news they have received. The current knowledge of the Human Race about the Phoenix is seriously lacking. They only know that the Phoenix is a very rare beast, but they do not know about the level of the Phoenix.’ Xiu said indifferently. His words were somewhat filled with contempt for the Human Race, and his ice-cold tone was penetrating one’s heart and bones.

Shen Yanxiao noticed that Xiu used strange words in his sentence – Human Race!

Then was it really true that Xiu wasn’t a human?
