Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 2099 1518: Stalemate (Part 2)

”Sect Leader, thereʼs terrible news! The defense lines across the sea areas have fallen. A great number of disciples couldnʼt escape, perishing in the mouths of beasts...” An elder rushed in, his face full of anxiety as he spoke.

”What?!”

”Impossible!”

”How could the Sea Clan act so quickly!”

The elders who were originally discussing with the Sect Leader turned pale, showing various reactions of shock and disbelief.

”Sect Leader, what should we do now? How can we resolve this massive crisis?” A slightly calmer elder was still at a loss, and could only place his hopes on the Sect Leader.

But how could the Sect Leader possibly come up with a solution to this crisis in a short time?

After a while, he slowly opened his mouth and said, ”Immediately dispatch all disciples to Sea Division City. No matter the cost, we must defend this place and not let the Sea Clan come ashore!”

”As for those vassal powers, loose cultivators, at this critical juncture of life and death, donʼt worry about the formalities, force them to head to Sea Division City!”

Perhaps doing so will bring terrible consequences for Cave Abyss Sect, such as those loose cultivators who will seize the opportunity to leave Cave Abyss Sectʼs territory.

But even though itʼs like drinking poison to quench thirst, with the current situation, there canʼt be too many demands anymore. Preserving the land territory is already good enough.

”Sect Leader...”

The elders werenʼt fools, and they naturally understood the cost the sect would pay by doing so. But just as they wanted to speak out and advise against being so resolute, they heard the Sect Leader say:

”At the same time, send out a signal for help to the surrounding Heavenly Immortal powers, asking them to assist in crushing the attack of the Sea Clan as soon as possible.”

This is an extremely difficult decision!

The once leading force of East Continent Immortal Tao, Cave Abyss Sect, has now fallen to the point of needing to seek assistance from other powers. Itʼs truly lamentable.

”What! No way! Absolutely not!”

”Seeking help from other forces, doesnʼt that make us a laughingstock?”

But unexpectedly, the elders reacted even more violently than before, absolutely disagreeing with the Sect Leaderʼs decision.

”Disagree? Are you prepared to wait for the Sea Clan to come ashore and expand their territory throughout Cave Abyss State, turning Cave Abyss Sect into the biggest offender of Immortal Tao, and gradually declining in the ongoing battle against the Sea Clan, eventually ceasing to exist?”

The Sect Leader wasnʼt angry, he merely spoke in a calm tone: ”So, are you ready to accept this outcome?”

For a moment, all the elders were speechless.

As the rulers of Cave Abyss Sect, they were certainly more aware of the sectʼs current situation. It was no longer as powerful and grand as it used to be.

Moreover, this time they lost the initiative; not only is the army yet to be organized, but various resources are even more scarce.

In such circumstances, the only choice to preserve their legacy and prevent the Sea Clan from coming ashore is to seek help from nearby Immortal Tao powers.

If that doesnʼt work, then thereʼs no need for them to do anything, as Kunlun State would send people to take over and handle the matter.

At that time, it wouldnʼt be Cave Abyss Sect against the Sea Clan, but Immortal Tao as a whole!

...

”Who would have thought, someday Iʼd actually see Cave Abyss Sect seeking help.”

”Whatʼs the situation with Cave Abyss Sect, itʼs just a beast tide, yet they actually end up disgracing themselves!”

The news of Cave Abyss Sect seeking aid from nearby Immortal Tao forces spread quickly, sparking a widespread discussion. Some criticized Cave Abyss Sect for willingly degenerating, while others couldnʼt believe it, only feeling that fate played tricks and lamented.

Mount Wanxian, Family Hall.

”Clan Leader, regarding Cave Abyss Sectʼs matter, should the family lend a hand?” an elder asked.

The relationship between the family and Cave Abyss Sect wasnʼt close. They could even be considered competitors, and Cave Abyss Sect had wronged the Li family several times years ago.

In such a situation, itʼs actually fine for the family not to help.

”Of course, we should!” Li Qingwen agreed decisively.

Although the two families had grudges before, it wasnʼt to the point of being mortal enemies.

Now that Cave Abyss Sect faces a formidable enemy, which is also the long-time opponent of East Continent Immortal Tao and the human race, the Sea Clan, itʼs only natural to be willing to lend a hand.

Moreover, helping Cave Abyss Sect is also equivalent to helping themselves. If Cave Abyss Sect canʼt fend off the Sea Clanʼs invasion, then the neighboring Shanhai State would probably find it hard to escape being invaded by the Sea Clan.

Rather than constantly contending with the Sea Clan for control of the waters, itʼd be better to place the battlefield on someone elseʼs territory.

Upon hearing Li Qingwenʼs words, those who initially wanted to refuse had their thoughts completely dispelled.

”However, we wonʼt go to the main battlefield, we will attack the beast tide of the Sea Clan from the two areasʼ borders.”

The purpose of doing so is simple: firstly, to reduce the number of family casualties, secondly, to guard against the Sea Clanʼs stealth invasion of Shanhai State.

”This is a good idea!”

Everyoneʼs eyes lit up. This method could help Cave Abyss Sect without causing significant losses to the family, and also hindered the Sea Clanʼs covert invasion.

Of course, doing this isnʼt without drawbacks.

For example, other forces might look down on the Li family, thinking they are cowardly and timid, or have impure motives, not sincerely wanting to help.

However, the Li family doesnʼt care about these perceptions. After all, the Sea Clan has made a Dao Oath not to actively invade the Ten Thousand Spirit Sea Area. The Li family doesnʼt have coastal territories where other forces need to be vigilant against the Sea Clanʼs pressure.

And those choosing to support Cave Abyss Sect arenʼt limited to the Li family. Yumen He Family, Xiaxian Sect, and other forces all understood the principle of lips gone, teeth cold, and without hesitation decided to support Cave Abyss Sect, sending numerous disciples and clansmen to assist.

With the influx of many cultivators and strong support, Cave Abyss Sect, which had previously been defending with difficulty, relying only on the City-Protecting Grand Array, could finally launch a counterattack.

A thunderous battle could now be said to have officially begun!

The sea area near Sea Division City, in just a few days, saw the water level rise several inches. The cause is naturally the fierce battle between the Sea Clan and the Immortal Tao, with casualties so heavy and severe.

In such a battlefield where deaths occurred in patches, even cultivators accustomed to witnessing life and death sometimes felt a chill, fearing that one day they might follow suit.

Then the battle entered a stalemate!

The cultivators didnʼt have enough powerful forces to counterattack and couldnʼt reclaim the territory lost to the Sea Clan.

After all, everyone came to help, primarily to stop the Sea Clan from invading East Continent, not to assist Cave Abyss Sect directly against the Sea Clan, let alone help reclaim lost lands.

The Sea Clan also faced similar issues; their casualties were extensive. Breaking through Sea Division City would probably cost an additional fifty percent, if not more, of their brethrenʼs lives.

Thus, the battle reached a stalemate!
