Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 1878: Chapter 1408: Dissemination

After taking care of those mundane matters, Li Zhirui returned to the inn, but he did not rest immediately. Instead, he took out sheets of white paper, using his Divine Sense to control a brush, quickly writing various true events on the paper.

At the same time, he multitasked by continuously replicating the recordings from the Memory Stone.

The former is meant for literate commoners to read, while the latter will be played in some public areas of the outer city.

”This time, let me show you the power of public influence. Perhaps after this, you won’t have the chance to see it again!”

After all, following this lesson to the Confucians, the Daqian dynasty will surely strengthen its control in this area.

However, this has nothing to do with Li Zhirui, who has already left by then. Besides, this is not necessarily a bad thing.

By noon the next day.

Li Zhirui met with a senior member of the Legalist faction in secret, explaining to them what he planned to do next, asking if they were willing to lend a hand.

”Are you really confident in doing as you said, to weaken the power of the Confucians?” the person calmly and rationally questioned.

”I’m at least seventy percent confident.”

Li Zhirui slowly said, ”In the eyes of the world, the Confucians have always been seen as noble gentlemen, which is one of the main reasons they have secured the leadership among the Hundred Schools. But if their true nature is exposed, it will surely affect the people’s perception and attitude towards them.”

”And, the current Emperor of Daqian probably won’t tolerate the Confucians’ continuing to seize power, right? I think he is also waiting for the opportunity to act!”

The person’s pupils suddenly shrank, curiously scrutinizing the cultivator before them, asking, ”Where did you learn this information? I thought His Majesty hid it well, even the Confucians within the court didn’t notice it.”

Thanks to the royal family’s education, not every Emperor of Daqian can be said to be a brilliant sovereign, but they are at least capable of maintaining the state.

But according to the various information Li Zhirui gathered these days, the current Emperor is definitely ambitious, zealous for power, entirely different from his public image.

For instance, in the court, while the Confucians kept expanding their influence and suppressing officials of other doctrines, His Majesty seemed to take no action. However, forces like the Imperial City Bureau and the Imperial Army have always been under his control!

Another thing is that when Li Zhirui curiously tried to learn about the Emperor’s character and interests, no matter how much he collected and inquired, most information contradicted itself.

And some important things simply do not exist!

This is enough to show that his control over the palace has reached an extremely terrifying level; without his permission, not a word can leak out!

From these two small matters, Li Zhirui glimpsed the terrifying and formidable means of this Daqian Emperor.

”It is merely that those involved have blurred vision, while observers see clearly.”

Clap clap clap—

”Impressive! Impressive! Sir, there’s no need to be humble. If it were simply a case of those involved having blurred vision and observers seeing clearly, why are there so few in the entire court who can see through it?”

After hearing his explanation, the senior Legalist clapped with admiration and said, ”I’ll personally report this matter to His Majesty and let him decide.”

”Of course.”

Li Zhirui was not surprised by this; the Legalists are often merely a blade or hound in the hand of royal power, and they are willing to be so.

After all, they want to establish various laws and systems, which can only be implemented through royal authority, and this is also their way of cultivating.

”One last thing,” Li Zhirui said.

The action that the senior Legalist originally wanted to take was involuntarily halted. He looked at Li Zhirui seriously.

”Suppressing and weakening the Confucians would have different impacts, whether done by an outsider like me or by the Emperor himself, although the results may be similar.”

If Li Zhirui were to act, he could withdraw at any time. Even if the Confucians found out afterward, they wouldn’t know his identity or whereabouts, so they couldn’t retaliate against him.

But if the Emperor were to make a move, it might trigger all the Confucian disciples’ discontent with Daqian, leading to unforeseeable consequences.

”I’m really curious, why are you so determined to take personal action against the Confucians?” the person asked curiously.

If it were another cultivator, facing such matters, they would definitely avoid it, unlike Li Zhirui, who actively approached.

”One must start what one finishes,” Li Zhirui said with a faint smile.

The person’s eyebrows raised, clearly not believing what Li Zhirui said, but since Li Zhirui was unwilling to explain further, he didn’t press the matter and left.

Watching the door close again, Li Zhirui sat there with a calm expression. Why insist on taking personal action? Because it is also a part of his training journey!

Having someone else do it is never as effective as doing it yourself?

...

The Legalist cultivator, Huang Jing, soon arrived at the royal palace. After waiting for a while, he was able to meet the Emperor of Daqian.

”Your Majesty!”

”Do not stand on ceremony.”

A low, solemn voice full of authority echoed in the vast, opulent hall.

This Emperor Qiansheng appeared not that old, with a resolute appearance and in his early thirties, at the peak of his strength and energy.

”What did that cultivator say to you?”

Long before Huang Jing received the letter, he had reported the matter to Emperor Qiansheng, and only with his approval was he permitted to meet with Li Zhirui in private.

Huang Jing recited the conversation between them without adding any personal emotion or opinion, like a cold machine.

”Ha!”

Emperor Qiansheng chuckled softly, his interest piqued, ”This Immortal Dao Cultivator is actually considering things for me, for Daqian? How interesting.”

”If it weren’t so inappropriate, I would have wanted to personally invite him to the palace to talk with him, it’s a pity...”

It’s a pity he still needs to keep his disguise, suddenly inviting a cultivator into the palace would surely cause a great uproar.

So this matter was finally left unresolved.

”Since he’s so eager to act personally, let him do it. For now, you all will follow his instructions,” Emperor Qiansheng concluded, deciding the matter.

”Yes!” Huang Jing replied respectfully, slowly backing away before turning to leave.

...

That afternoon, Li Zhirui went to see the robust Bai Gang from the Military Family and received the same affirmative answer; the Military Family also agreed to participate.

But he also straightforwardly stated they would only act when the Confucians’ momentum was gone, and the outcome was decided. Other times, they would just stand by.

”No matter, dealing with the Confucians indeed requires an unrelenting pursuit.”

Bai Gang then asked, ”When do you plan to make your move?”

”Soon, soon, once I have everything ready, I will notify you all.”
