Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 1872: Chapter 1405: Worth It

However, before that, it’s still necessary to save these mortals.

Li Zhirui flew to the county’s grain store and purchased a large quantity of cheap ordinary grain, enough for those poor mortals to eat for two or three months.

By then, this year’s grain would also have matured.

Furthermore, he estimated that by then, the issue in Guan Province should be resolved.

”How much ordinary grain do you have in the store? I want it all!” As Li Zhirui walked into the largest grain shop, he wasted no words, directly stating his request.

The shopkeeper said with a face full of astonishment, ”This guest wants to buy so much grain? The price won’t be cheap.”

”Just report the quantity.”

”There are five hundred thousand jin of grain in the warehouse, and in a few days, another two hundred thousand jin will arrive. If the guest is not in a hurry...”

”No need, I only want four hundred thousand jin.” Li Zhirui interrupted the shopkeeper before he could finish speaking, leaving enough grain for the mortals in the city.

”Ordinary grain is three wen per jin. For a guest buying in such large quantities, it’s calculated at two wen and six fen, so that’s one thousand and forty taels of silver.”

”Hmm.”

With a thought, a silver note and four taels of gold appeared in Li Zhirui’s hand.

The Daqian dynasty has silver notes, and they have been around for many years, quite well developed.

”Please follow me.” After the shopkeeper confirmed there was no issue with the silver note, he led him towards the warehouse not far away.

All ordinary grain is stored in one warehouse, and Li Zhirui used his Divine Sense to scan it, immediately knowing the details.

With a wave of his hand towards the mountain of grain, in just a moment, four hundred thousand jin of grain was neatly stacked in his space.

”Such an impressive skill, guest!”

Suddenly, the shopkeeper’s eyes lit up, but despite the praise, he still had to count carefully.

Soon, the shopkeeper confirmed the remaining quantity, smiling as he said, ”Indeed, there are still one hundred thousand jin of grain left. Does the guest need anything else?”

”No need.” Li Zhirui shook his head and turned away, leaving directly.

On the way back from purchasing grain, he passed a back door of a luxurious mansion, seeing dozens of servants busily carrying something.

As he walked a bit closer, he discovered that their wooden barrels were filled with food! And all made from valuable ingredients!

These discarded foods could feed many people well for a day, without going hungry.

”Truly, ’in the mansions, wine and meat rot, while on the road lie the bones of those frozen to death’...” Li Zhirui couldn’t help but sigh, lamenting.

”Hmm? Who is speaking nonsense!”

This sentence carried with the breeze, entering the ear of a young man dressed in fine clothes. His previously gentle demeanor vanished as he spoke out, ”What do the lives and deaths of those lowly people have to do with us? It’s their own lack of effort, their fathers and ancestors not being diligent or smart! Can they blame anyone?”

Li Zhirui glanced at this person coldly, a dark light flashing in his eyes, and said indifferently, ”Your glabella is darkened, and you have never cultivated merit; disaster is imminent!”

”Damn scoundrel! Whom are you cursing!? Someone, capture him! Give him a good beating, as long as you don’t kill him, I’ll take responsibility!” The person instantly flew into a rage, yelling with a hideous face.

Yet, before the servants could act, Li Zhirui vanished into thin air in front of everyone, startling them greatly.

Were it not for the clear skies above and the presence of the Daoist magic network, they would have thought they were encountering a ghost.

Because of this sudden change, the young man in fine clothes dared not say anything further, retreating awkwardly into the courtyard.

And Li Zhirui paid no attention to the man; what concern is there for a doomed person? He simply accelerated his pace, hurrying outside the city.

With his speed, he returned to the village he visited earlier in just a moment.

He did not reveal himself, mainly to avoid trouble, preferring to leave a few bags of grain for those poor families silently.

After all, Li Zhirui acts according to his mood nowadays, which is the so-called clear and unobstructed mind, rather than seeking gratitude from these mortals.

Moreover, this is of no use to him anyway.

By the time he finished distributing all forty thousand jin of grain, it was already the next day.

After completing this task, Li Zhirui was not in a hurry to leave Guan Province. Since he decided to tackle the Confucians and change the situation in Guan Province, he must personally visit and uncover various issues within.

Only then can he act purposefully and better defeat the Confucians!

In just a few days, he discovered that beyond the issue of the common people being hungry, there were also class rigidity, officials and aristocrats hiding large populations, seizing vast lands, deceiving the people, and more.

Furthermore, these problems were not isolated cases but were widespread throughout Guan Province!

Li Zhirui even recorded these situations one by one, convenient for using as evidence later.

While he was busy investigating and collecting clues, many commoners found several bags of grain suddenly appearing at home.

”There’s grain! There’s grain!” A woman with a sorrowful face, upon seeing those bags of grain, covered her mouth and collapsed to the ground, unable to stop sobbing.

If not for the timely appearance of this grain, she would have almost taken her children to death together, to avoid suffering in this world.

”Thank you, Immortal, thank you, Deity...” People thanked randomly.

Since no one knew who placed it, they didn’t dare to make it known for fear of outsiders rushing to borrow the grain.
