Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 1576: Chapter 1257: Countermeasures

”How many underground palaces are there in Shanhai State, and where are they located? How long have you been infiltrating Shanhai State, and how did you remain hidden without revealing any traces?” Li Zhirui continuously questioned.

Finally, he added a sentence, ”If it involves restrictions, you can skip answering.”

After all, he had other plans for these demon cultivators and couldn’t let them just die like that.

”There are only two underground palaces, D and E, in Shanhai State. The other underground palaces are located in other state domains of East Continent, but I can’t disclose their exact locations to you.”

Clearly, there were some restrictions placed on them by the demonic Tao.

”The notion that the demonic Tao has returned to the East Continent is incorrect; rather, it has never left, and some state domains still harbor demonic Tao forces.”

One demon cultivator continued, ”Because of a calamity a hundred years ago, nine-tenths of the demon cultivators in Shanhai State were wiped out, but afterward, nearby demon cultivators were quickly mobilized to infiltrate.”

”As to why they weren’t exposed, it’s probably because they were cautious in their actions, and mostly targeted loose cultivators and ordinary people, acting separately, so they weren’t discovered.”

Another demon cultivator quickly spoke up, trying to assert his presence, ”Once, I accidentally saw Old Demon Shi Kui pouring something into places like the Blood Pool and Corpse Pit, and he vaguely mentioned something about confusing cognition, which might be related to this.”

Hearing this, Li Zhirui’s eyebrows slightly raised, could it be that those demonic creatures have such unique abilities?

He could ask Yuhong later to see if he has figured it out.

”What are those blood pools and corpse pits you’re creating in the underground palaces for?”

”It seems they’re for nurturing demonic creatures for those major demon cultivators to use, we don’t dare to disobey orders,” he said, not forgetting to distance himself from the matter.

Li Zhirui entirely disregarded this, pondering how to handle the matter.

The issue with the demon palace was no longer just a private matter of the Li family, but it involved countless large and small powers across the entire East Continent Immortal Tao.

More importantly, he was worried that the demonic Tao spent so much effort not just to nurture demonic creatures, but perhaps had even more dangerous plans!

After all, if it were merely nurturing demonic creatures, why go to such great lengths? Why venture into the territory of the Immortal Tao of the East Continent, being so cautious for fear of being discovered by cultivators? Demon cultivators could easily accomplish this in the West Continent without any concerns.

But judging from the situation of these demon cultivators, they most likely didn’t know the deeper secrets.

Without further questions, Li Zhirui instructed Li Guangjie to take them away and imprison them.

”I don’t want to die! Please, spare me!”

”I’m willing to do anything, just spare my life!”

...

Thinking they were going to be executed, they cried and begged for mercy in tears and wails.

”Shut up!”

Li Zhirui impatiently rebuked, ”I didn’t say I was going to kill you, just to imprison you. If you keep making noise, I’ll grant your wish!”

They fell silent, not daring to make any sound, obediently being taken away.

”Ancestor Rui, I will carefully investigate every part of Shanhai State to find the second underground palace of the demon cultivators,” Li Mingyao immediately said.

As a local Earth God, he was unaware that two massive underground palaces had been established by the demonic Tao, indeed it was a dereliction of duty.

”No rush on this matter.”

Li Zhirui, however, shook his head and said, ”The D underground palace was just recently destroyed, the demon cultivators must be on high alert. If the family makes too big a move now and is discovered by the demon cultivators, it might lead to another great battle.”

This was indeed true. After he wiped out and erased the D underground palace, the demon cultivators in other palaces were on high alert, fearing they too might face the same fate.

So investigating now might alert the enemy, bringing trouble to the family.

If it were a common battle, Li Zhirui would have no concerns whatsoever. With Mount Wanxian as their backing, mere demon cultivators couldn’t pose a threat.

But among this group of demon cultivators, there was an Earth Immortal, so caution was necessary.

”Then why not spread the word, tire out the demon cultivators, and have the family strike when the time is right, making it less abrupt.” A certain elder suggested.

Li Guangjie added, ”The source of the rumor shouldn’t be from the family, nor start in Shanhai State, it should spread from another region to avoid suspicion.”

”Leave this matter to me.”

Li Zhirui took over the conversation saying, ”I’ve been in isolation for many years without progressing further. This time, venturing out I can also seek opportunities for a breakthrough.”

Moreover, since it was caused by him, it’s fitting for him to resolve it, ensuring things begin well and end well.

”Then we’ll trouble Ancestor Rui with this matter.”

Li Guangjie and others naturally had no objections. After all, not only was Li Zhirui highly cultivated, but his future was obscured, making him the most suitable candidate for this kind of covert operation.

Without much to prepare, he instructed others to keep the secret and then left Mount Wanxian.

This time, Li Zhirui didn’t go to the Cave Abyss Sect’s territory.

Not because it was close and might arouse the demonic Tao’s suspicion, but because the main purpose of this outing was to seek opportunities for a breakthrough, spreading the rumor was just a side task.

After all, the demonic Tao had been rampaging in the East Continent for years, and since he’d already disrupted one of their operations, a few years shouldn’t matter.

Not knowing how long this training would take, Li Zhirui left Yuhong with the family, convenient for him to break through to Earth Immortal if the time came.

After all, if he was outside with him, he couldn’t afford that many Spirit Stones to rent a specialized cave mansion for seclusion.
