Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 499 - 505: Testing the Spirit

Hearing this, Li Shiqingʼs eyebrows also furrowed; indeed, the whereabouts of the Beast Taming Sect, now unknown, indeed posed a problem for the family.

But...

Li Shiqing still didnʼt quite agree with Li Zhiruiʼs idea of pushing the clan members to cultivate other techniques.

The incompleteness of the cultivation techniques was an issue, but to be honest, it wasnʼt very severe. After all, the methods of the Golden Core Realm were already sufficient. Achieving the Nascent Soul like Li Zhirui was definitely not something ordinary people could accomplish.

Even Li Shiqing himself had little confidence in all of the clan members at the moment.

The main issue was the absence of guidance from predecessors, necessitating their own exploration.

The problem was that the new generation of clan members would be only eight years old when it was time for them to cultivate!

Even if they were precocious, how much could they really understand about cultivation?

In the end, not only would it delay their cultivation, but it could also potentially ruin their entire lives.

Li Zhirui was aware of Li Shiqingʼs concerns and, after thinking for a moment, said, ”But if we donʼt do it now, it will be even less possible in the future.”

”As for your worries, I will personally guide those children. When they grow up, they can exchange ideas and support each other in exploration. What do you think?”

Although Li Zhirui had not yet reached the lofty realm of understanding one method to illuminate all methods, he still qualified and was capable of providing guidance to Qi cultivation novices.

It would just require him to take some time and effort to understand those few cultivation techniques and explain them to the children.

But not now, because they still needed to refine their meridians and bodies for three more years.

Moreover, it was not about having all the children give up the Wanling Sutra, as it was the foundation of the Li family and absolutely not to be shaken. The addition of several cultivation methods was merely a precaution.

The primary focus would still be on whether they had any other talents, followed by their own will.

But if it was someone like Li Zhixuan, with poor aptitude and no special talents, the family would still recommend that they cultivate the Wanling Sutra.

At the very least, the family could now provide a large scale supply of third-grade Spirit Beasts. With this blessing, breaking through to the Foundation Establishment stage might not be impossible in the future.

Thanks to the efforts of Beast Tamers, such as Li Shilian at the helm, the family had cultivated several kinds of third-grade Spirit Beast lineages over the years. Along with the Spirit Beasts the clan members owned, which were regularly bred each year, it was possible to provide enough young cubs.

”Youʼve gone this far, how could I refuse?” Li Shiqing shook his head, now understanding how resolute Li Zhirui was about this matter.

When the new Clan Leader, Li Xuefeng, saw the orders issued by Li Zhirui, his eyes were full of confusion, completely unable to understand why this was necessary.

But with both titans of the family agreeing, he could only do as instructed and announce the contents.

”Starting this year, all new generation children with a Spiritual Root may freely choose their cultivation technique; the family will no longer require everyone to cultivate the Wanling Sutra!”

The fact that Li Zhirui would personally guide the children was not written,

yet those few dozen words set off waves of shock within the family.

All clan members discussed the matter fervently, with some in agreement and others opposed.

But the decision was final and would not change.

Time rushed by like flowing water, and in the blink of an eye, several months passed, and the end of the year arrived.

Li Zhirui kept his presence concealed, wanting to see if there were any children with good aptitude in this batch, as well as those suitable for cultivating other methods.

”It seems we now have members of the name generation and the Xian generation, even some of the Hong generation,” Li Zhirui said with a sigh as he browsed through the name list. ”Time really flies!”

```
Scenes of continuity as phoenix and jade, flourishing through the generations, graced by scholastic fame and grand achievements with fortunes anew.
This signifies the twentieth generational naming sequence of the Li family, which has now reached the sixteenth generation.
One after another, children entered the Spirit Testing Array. Some revealed their Spiritual Roots, while others showed no reaction and burst into tears with pursed lips.
Although they were young, having been immersed in their parentsʼ expectations, they were well aware of the importance of Spiritual Roots and naturally were heartbroken without them.
”As expected, itʼs incredibly difficult to find one with good aptitude,” Li Zhirui had observed thousands of clansmen so far, but none had caught his eye.
However, he did take note of several children with good potential. As long as nothing unexpected happened, they should be able to break through to Foundation Establishment, and some might even have a chance at reaching the Golden Core Realm.
”Eh?!”
Bored and somewhat longing to leave, Li Zhiruiʼs peripheral vision caught an odd-looking column of light.
The faint cyan pillar of light carried the sound of the wind within—a sign of the Wind Spiritual Root!
Li Zhirui looked towards the owner of the column, a boy with light cyan iris color. Seeing that he too possessed a Spiritual Root, he couldnʼt help but break into a grin.
”Born of Secular Clansmen?” If the boyʼs parents were cultivators, they would have already known he had a Spiritual Root; this kind of reaction wouldnʼt occur.
Moreover, if Li Zhirui wasnʼt mistaken, the child might even possess a Wind-attribute Spiritual Body.
”If thatʼs the case, he would indeed suit the practice of the ʼTaiyi Scudding Wind Path Scripture.ʼ”
Yet Li Zhirui hesitated for a moment considering such a promising seedling might achieve even greater heights if he were to cultivate the ʼWanling Sutra.ʼ
”Letʼs see what choice he makes,” murmured Li Zhirui, shaking his head to clear the jumble of thoughts and dismissing the idea of leaving prematurely.
To save time, the two rounds of testing were conducted simultaneously. Children with Spiritual Roots moved directly to asses their Spiritual Root Purity, while those without returned to the resting area, waiting to be sent back together.
And so it wasnʼt long before it was the turn of the child that had caught Li Zhiruiʼs attention.
”Ancestor…”
The Executor responsible for the testing was startled by the sudden appearance of Li Zhirui.
”Donʼt mind me, just pretend Iʼm not here,” Li Zhirui gestured casually, appearing quite laid back.
The Executor, having a bit of nerve, calmed down upon hearing his words and called out, ”Next!”
To protect the privacy of each clansman, the Spiritual Root Purity assessment was conducted in individual rooms, where only the person being tested and the Executor were present.
However, the child was apparently unaware of this and nervously stepped forward, following the instructions to grasp the Spirit Measuring Ruler.
In an instant, a bluish light began to rise from the base, quickly filling up eighty percent of the rulerʼs length.
And it continued to climb slowly.
”This…” The Executor was momentarily dumbstruck, connecting the appearance of Li Zhirui to the sudden realization.
In the end, the light cyan Spirit Light occupied ninety percent of the Spirit Measuring Ruler, with the remaining portion taken up by green light.
”Wind-Wood Dual Spiritual Roots! The Wind Spiritual Root Purity is as high as ninety percent!” The Executor couldnʼt help but envision the future of a Golden Core True Lord, or even a Nascent Soul True Lord.
Li Zhirui was also slightly surprised; he hadnʼt expected the boyʼs Spiritual Root Purity to be so high and then said, ”Now, use the Spirit Measuring Disc for another test.”
The Spirit Measuring Disc is far more comprehensive. It can not only ascertain Spiritual Roots but also detect the Spiritual Body.
