Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 111: The Attack

”Ren Uncle, have the formations on both the south and north sides been set up?” Li Zhizhun asked.

The eastern side of Da Rong Island is flanked by a continuous range of tall mountains, so thereʼs no worry about Water Devils landing from that side. The western side is the coastal area where Water Devils are rare, so only the south and north sides need to be heavily guarded.

”Based on the situations in previous years, I have set up several Defensive Arrays at the Water Devilsʼ landing spots, so when the time comes, we can directly arrange for clan members to go there to resist the Water Devils,” Li Shiren replied.

The vast majority of Water Devils canʼt stay on land for long, but there are a few small rivers on Da Rong Island that flow into the Boundless Sea, and these rivers are the battle sites between the Li family and the Water Devils.

Li Shiren didnʼt arrange the formations at the river mouth but in the middle of the rivers. The reason for choosing this location was mainly to further exhaust the Water Devilsʼ strength.

Anyway, there are no mortals living in these areas yet, all wilderness and ranges, so thereʼs no need to worry about too much damage.

In fact, once everything was ready, Li Zhirui and the others werenʼt as nervous. Itʼs important to note that in the previous beast tides, only a few dozen clan members had resisted and there had been no significant casualties.

Now that all the clan members have gathered here with greatly increased strength, whatʼs there to worry about?

Although this beast tide might be more dangerous than before, given that the three families to the east canʼt hold back many Water Devils, the Li familyʼs strength has also increased a lot, and so much preparation has been made.

”Zhirui and Elder Shilian, you go to the north side; Ren Uncle and Mrs. Ting, you stay in the south. I will lead a group of clan members to the west,” Li Zhizhun said.

Li Zhizhun went on: ”The specific list will be announced in a while, making sure the strength on both sides is balanced.”

”In addition to supplies like Qi Replenishing Pills, we will also equip you with a second-tier Spirit Boat for timely support.”

”After the beast tide explodes, Iʼll trouble Elders Shile and Shiqi to guard the clan grounds and take care of all kinds of Spiritual Objects with those younger ones.”

This beast tide would not allow clan members in the early stages of Qi Cultivation to participate. Their power was too weak and their age too tender; if they were brought onto the battlefield, they might become a burden to others.

”Yes!” everyone answered in unison.

Li Zhizhun then asked, ”If there are no other suggestions, then Iʼll gather the clan members and announce the arrangement.”

Seeing no one speaking up, Li Zhizhun struck a bronze bell next to him. Upon hearing the bell, the islandʼs clan members immediately hurried to the main hall.

The square was deathly silent, the atmosphere somewhat tense. The family had not kept their preparations secret from the clan members, who, unless they had just come out of seclusion, were all aware of what the family was about to face.

”Iʼm sure you are all aware that a beast tide is about to erupt, so I wonʼt beat around the bush. Iʼll directly announce the arrangements for everyone,” Li Zhizhun said very directly.

All the stronger clan members had been assigned to the south and north sides; only ten mid-stage Qi Cultivation clan members were with him on the west side.

”Even though the island has Defensive Arrays, it is not absolutely safe. So I hope everyone remains cautious and doesnʼt let down their guard,” Li Zhizhun reminded them at the end before saying, ”Now everyone can go to the storeroom to collect three Spirit-Replenishing Pills and twenty tier-one Talismans.”

Li Zhirui murmured, ”Now we just wait for the beast tide to break out, just not sure how many Water Devils the Zheng family can stop.”

But thinking about the old grudges between those three families and his own, it was possible they might even intentionally let some Water Devils through.

”No matter what they do, we will definitely hold Da Rong Island,” Li Shiren said with full confidence. ”As for you, donʼt spend all day in your room practicing Alchemy after you return; if the beast tide erupts, thereʼll be no way to inform you in time.”

Li Zhirui smiled and said, ”Uncle Ren, rest assured, I will often come out and walk around these days.”

”Donʼt be too confident!” Li Shilian warned with a serious expression, ”Although most of the monster tide consists of first-order Water Devils, when ants unite, they can kill an elephant. You must never be negligent, especially since there are many Qi Cultivators around you.”

”Yes!” Li Zhirui and Li Shirenʼs expressions changed slightly. With their strength, they didnʼt need to worry too much about their own safety, but the other clan members were not so fortunate.

Li Shilian nodded slightly and said, ”Go back and rest well, conserve your energy.”

At the same time, other forces in Yunping State were also making various preparations for the impending monster tide.

Many forces deep in the inland were not just sitting by and watching, not giving up the opportunity to harvest Spiritual Objects. Although there might be some casualties, compared to the gains, these casualties were inconsequential.

Of course, there were also those who didnʼt come for profit, like Yuanming Sect. It dispatched disciples to the front lines of the battlefield, partly because it was their responsibility—as the ruler of Yunping State and the Sect Master for all the families—and also to use this opportunity to train the disciples in actual combat.

As for the Loose Cultivators, they had no other thoughts in mind except to take advantage of the monster tide to make a big profit in Spirit Stones and then improve their cultivation levels.

Thus, the Loose Cultivators were the fastest to arrive at the chain of islands, and by the time they got there, some Water Devils had already appeared, with both sides starting to fight upon encounter.

As one after another, the forces settled on the island chain, the number of Water Devils also increased more and more, densely packed, stretching beyond sight.

”The scale of this yearʼs monster tide seems to be much larger than in previous years?” A Clan Leader of a certain family said with some concern.

A clan member beside him, not understanding the implications, said, ”Isnʼt that better? We can obtain more Spiritual Objects.”

In the eyes of most Cultivators, the monster tide only looked scary but was actually not that strong, after all. First-order Water Devils had very low Spiritual Intelligence and could not exhibit much combat power, nor could they use Magic Artifacts or other external objects.

On the Cultivatorsʼ side, they had set up a Defensive Array, had targeted Spells, Magic Artifacts, Talismans, etc. The only drawback might be that the numbers were not large.

”Perhaps, but be careful anyway and do not let greed blind your eyes,” the Clan Leader reminded.

However, it was apparent that his clan members did not take his words to heart, still standing on the frontline battling the Water Devils.

”The monster tide has erupted!”

On Da Rong Island, Li Zhirui and others quickly received the news. However, thanks to their earlier efforts to clear nearby Water Devils, the number of Water Devils besieging Da Rong Island was not large, and they were easily dealt with.

They even had time to harvest the most valuable Spirit Materials from their bodies, as well as parts that could be used to make Spirit Food.

”It looks like this yearʼs monster tide doesnʼt pose much of a threat,” Li Shilian finally relaxed.

Li Zhirui couldnʼt help but laugh and say, ”You see, the clan members are quite dissatisfied with this.”

Due to the Li familyʼs various preparations, most of the clan members were very tense, believing that this monster tide was extremely dangerous.

But when the monster tide actually erupted, it posed no threat to them, and now they were all hoping for more Water Devils to come for them to fight and kill.

”The real beginning is yet to come, the tide from the east hasnʼt even arrived,” Li Shilian said with a chuckle. ”During the monster tide, do you still worry about there being no Water Devils?”

Li Zhirui also nodded with a smile, thinking to himself: As long as we get through this monster tide, we wonʼt have to worry about it for the next decade or so.
