Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 106: Handover

”When do you plan to hold the banquet, big brother?” Li Zhirui asked.

Just like his previous breakthrough, the banquet was both a celebration and the handing over and transmission of responsibilities. As the main character, Li Zhizhun naturally wanted to ask for his opinion.

”Iʼm fine with any time.” Li Zhizhun smiled casually; his Spirit Beast did not continue to breakthrough after Foundation Establishment, so he didnʼt need to watch over it.

Of course, it had also made no small progress, perhaps it could breakthrough again in a year or two.

”How about in nine days then?” Li Zhirui thought for a moment and said, ”Just in time for these few days, I will pass on to big brother the Foundation Establishment Realm techniques of the ʼWanling Sutraʼ and the Visualization Skill, the ʼDivine Turtle Ocean-Suppressing Chartʼ.”

Currently, in the Li family, only two people are qualified to transmit the ʼWanling Sutraʼ: one is Li Shiqing, and the other is the transmission elder Li Shiting. Li Zhirui, because he was only acting as Clan Leader, did not have this qualification.

In fact, he was qualified, but he needed to learn that Sealing Skill. Li Zhirui tried to learn it and discovered his talent in this area was mediocre, so he decisively gave up.

Moreover, it was exactly when he had just broken through recently, and with time being tight, he really did not have spare time to learn a new method.

As for the ʼDivine Turtle Calming the Sea Chartʼ, it was in Li Zhiruiʼs possession.

”Okay,” Li Zhizhun nodded, and then said, ”Tell me about what the family needs to do now, so there wonʼt be any mishaps when I take over.”

Since Li Zhizhun would soon become the Clan Leader, Li Zhirui told him all the family secrets that he hadnʼt known before, including the two Foundation Establishment Spiritual Medicines on the familyʼs Spirit Medicine Mountain and their execution of a Golden Core walking corpse, among others.

”So thatʼs how it is!” Li Zhizhun had sensed something was amiss before, but he didnʼt expect such astonishing news.

Li Zhizhun said with anticipation, ”With the enlightenment you all brought back, Uncle should be able to breakthrough soon.”

Li Zhirui was also full of expectation. However, Li Shiqing had been in seclusion for several years now without any sign of progress, which unavoidably made one feel somewhat anxious.

Throughout the day, Li Zhirui told Li Zhizhun everything that needed to be said. The rest could be discussed later.

The next day, Li Zhizhun went to the Scripture Pavilion and received the Foundation Establishment Realm cultivation technique of the ʼWanling Sutraʼ from Li Shiting.

He absorbed it faster than Li Zhirui; thatʼs because Li Zhizhun did not look through the last part of the inheritance that consisted of knowledge of second-order Devil Beasts, unlike Li Zhirui, who found Devil Beasts interesting and took the time to read through it.

Several days later, at dusk, the family members in the Marketplace had all returned to Da Rong Island to attend the banquet for Li Zhizhunʼs Foundation Establishment.

It was only when they had returned that the preparation of Spirit Food for the banquet began, as the familyʼs only two Spirit Chefs were at Cloudtop Pavilion.

Furthermore, as the family grew stronger day by day, this banquet was to be even more abundant than Li Zhiruiʼs previous one, with all sorts of Spirit Fruits and Spirit Foods laid across numerous tables, making all the attending family members very happy.

”Todayʼs banquet is to celebrate the birth of the sixth Foundation Establishment cultivator in our family!”

Before the banquet officially started, Li Zhirui stood up and said, ”Also, I announce once again that Li Zhizhun will take over as Clan Leader, leading the family towards prosperity and strength!”

The family members had anticipated this, so Li Zhiruiʼs announcement did not surprise everyone too much, but they clapped warmly to celebrate Li Zhizhun becoming the new Clan Leader.

Then Li Zhizhun stood up to speak, roughly saying that he would deal with family affairs well and lead the family towards greater strength.

”I announce that the banquet is officially underway!” Li Zhizhun declared with a sweeping gesture, immediately met with a round of cheers.

After three rounds of drinks, the ground was littered with remnants of food, the scene in complete disarray; but these leftovers made excellent feed for the Spirit Earthworms, and someone would duly collect them afterward.

Thanks to the prior handover between Li Zhirui and Li Zhizhun, once he officially became the Clan Leader, Li Zhirui simply washed his hands of the matter altogether.

Moreover, Li Zhirui did not hold the position of an Elder, so he did not have to attend the family meetings and stayed shut in his room, dedicated to cultivating or trying to modify the Hundred Herbs Pill.

With another round of power transition in the Li family, the news of Li Zhizhun becoming the new Clan Leader quickly spread throughout Yunping State.

”How many years has it been? The Li family has actually produced another Foundation Establishment Cultivator, this speed is just too fast, isnʼt it?” a Loose Cultivator exclaimed with surprise and envy.

”It really is good to have a family supporting you, unlike us Loose Cultivators who run around everywhere, risking life and death, and yet only obtain such meager resources, with no chance at even breaking through to Foundation Establishment in the end.”

Following the spreading of news about Li Zhizhunʼs breakthrough to Foundation Establishment, a significant commotion ensued in Yunping State, with discussions about the Li family everywhere, most Cultivators feeling a strong sense of envy and jealousy.

As for the affiliated families under the Yuanming Sect, they had long given up on the idea of dealing with the Li family. With the Yuanming Sect present, the Li family wouldnʼt arbitrarily make a move against them, aside from the Zheng and Jiang families that bore old grudges.

Unfortunately, these two families lacked successors; not having produced another Foundation Establishment Cultivator in recent years, even if both families joined forces, they only had five Foundation Establishment Cultivators, not enough to contend with the Li family.

These two families also understood that, as the Li familyʼs strength continually grew, their situation would become increasingly perilous. So, a few years ago, they had already started sending members out to search for a new settlement.

Alas, Spirit Veins, such essential resources, were hard to find in the wilderness, and with the expeditions from both families being small in number, and taking place outside the familiar territories of Yunping State, they had yet to find a suitable Spirit Vein for settlement.

They could only continue to live in unease within their clan lands, dreading the day the Li family might come knocking, and even though it had been nearly ten years and the Li family had shown no signs of action, they remained uneasy.

——

”Da Qing, why havenʼt you broken through yet?” Li Zhirui watched the leisurely Da Qing and couldnʼt help but speak up.

To keep Da Qing from falling too far behind him, Li Zhirui had invested countless resources, yet Da Qing was still at the ninth level of Qi Cultivation.

While Da Qingʼs cultivation speed had already surpassed that of many Devil Beasts and Spirit Beasts, Li Zhirui was still somewhat dissatisfied since he was waiting for Da Qingʼs breakthrough to go on travels.

Squeak!

Da Qing, however, was not in a hurry at all, knowing that he would inevitably break through to Foundation Establishment someday; it was merely a matter of time.

The cultivation level of Devil Beasts is closely linked to their rank. Take Da Qing for example, a third-rank Qingxuan Turtle—with sufficient resources and barring mid-journey death, he would inevitably break through to the second rank and there was a good chance of progressing to the third rank.

Of course, rank does not determine everything. Just as with the quality of a Cultivatorʼs Spiritual Root, the higher the rank, the better the innate quality, and the higher the likelihood of advancing to higher levels.

”You lazy thing!” Li Zhirui muttered helplessly, but he could do nothing else except feed Da Qing more Spiritual Objects, accelerating the accumulation of Mana inside his body and encouraging him to break through sooner.

As for the effectiveness, well, having some was certainly better than none!
