Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 75: Misfortune and Fortune (Pushed to top recommendations! Please follow for more!)

”Clan Leader, a Spirit Vein has suddenly appeared on the island!” a clansman burst into the main hall, his face full of excitement.

Li Shilian stood up abruptly, asking eagerly, ”Where?”

Li Zhirui looked thoughtfully at this clansman; if he remembered correctly, this should be one of the only two clansmen who had contracted with a Spirit Seeking Beast.

Although Spirit Seeking Beasts were considered second-tier, they specialized only in locating things with exposed spiritual energy and lacked combat abilities. Consequently, very few clan members were willing to contract with Spirit Seeking Beasts. The Li family thus bred a few, merely ensuring their lineage would not be lost.

”Itʼs beneath a small hill about ten miles east of Spirit Lake,” said the clansman, somewhat uncertainly. ”The spiritual energy there is denser than that of the two Spirit Veins in Spirit Lake and East Mountain, but itʼs not as rich as the spiritual energy within the clanʼs lands.”

”Letʼs go take a look,” Li Zhirui gestured for the man to lead the way, with all the Elders following behind him.

The newly discovered Spirit Vein wasnʼt far from the clanʼs lands, just tens of miles away, and they arrived after a short while.

Li Zhirui closed his eyes and sensed the spiritual energy nearby. He said, not quite certain, ”The spiritual energy here is between that of a first-tier and a second-tier Spirit Vein. Itʼs like a second-tier Spirit Vein in the midst of forming was suddenly interrupted, but its grade is higher than that of a first-tier Spirit Vein by half a notch.”

The sudden appearance of the Spirit Vein was likely related to the recent Earth Dragon Turning Over event. It was just uncertain how many such fortunate occurrences had arisen.

”For your discovery of the Spirit Vein, the clan rewards you with three hundred Contribution Value and one hundred Spirit Stones. Later, go to Elder Shile to receive them,” Li Zhirui turned and smiled at the one who found the Spirit Vein. ”When you have time, wander around Da Rong Island; perhaps youʼll make other discoveries.”

”Iʼm on it!” Hearing the implication in Li Zhiruiʼs words, the clansman replied and strode off promptly.

”The rest of you can think about how we might develop this Spirit Mountain. After weʼve settled the mortals on the island, weʼll discuss this further.”

Li Zhirui looked toward Li Shiren and said, ”Ren, I will need you to set up a Spirit Gathering Array and a Defensive Array on the mountain.”

”Elder Shize, after you return to Yunping State, make it a priority to investigate whether other places have seen the emergence of Spirit Veins or any other abnormal situations.”

”As for the other Elders, I thank you for joining me to assist the mortals in rebuilding their homes.”

Under Li Zhiruiʼs direction, every cultivator on the island became busy. With everyone working together, they needed only half a month to resurrect the villages from the ruins.

”Everyone has worked hard this time; each clan member will be rewarded with one hundred Contribution Value,” Li Zhirui said, showing signs of fatigue.

To ensure the mortals had their houses built before the weather turned cold, Li Zhirui and others worked day and night chopping wood and carving stone.

Occasionally, they also had to handle land reclamation. Although they were cultivators, such intense manual labor and prolonged mana output still exhausted everyone.

Fortunately, they managed to settle all the mortals before the first heavy snowfall, preventing a second wave of casualties.

”Elder Shize, letʼs start with the intelligence youʼve gathered,” Li Zhirui said.

Li Shize, who had been out gathering news, didnʼt look much better; with a hoarse voice, he reported, ”The most severely affected area is at the border between Yunping State and Green Mountain State where many mountains have collapsed and the ground has split open, creating a large river.”

”I canʼt obtain any information from within Green Mountain State for now, but within Yunping State, as far as I know, at least five new Spirit Veins have emerged, and one of them is a second-tier Spirit Vein.”

Among them, there certainly were undiscovered cases, or families like the Li family that had concealed the emergence of the Spirit Vein on Da Rong Island.

”Since itʼs not just us who suddenly got an extra Spirit Vein, then thereʼs no need to keep it a secret anymore,” Li Zhirui said.

Li Zhirui didnʼt ask about the situation of the commoners in Yunping State, because he knew without asking, that with the weather growing colder by the day, there would be significant casualties.

Yunping State had many cultivation forces, but those families couldnʼt even take care of their own blood-related commoners completely, let alone have the energy to care about the lives and deaths of other commoners.

The Yuanming Sect, on the other hand, had no such worries, but their disciples were limited in number. With the need to arrange disciples to quickly rebuild the Yunqing Marketplace and also guard against the Green Sword Sect taking advantage of the situation, they simply could not spare too many disciples to rescue the commoners.

The Li family managed to complete the disaster recovery so quickly because, firstly, Da Rong Island was located on the edge and was not so severely affected by the disaster, and secondly, because there were only tens of thousands of commoners on the island, many of whom were opening up wastelands on the plains, making the number of commoner casualties relatively small.

Returning to the matter at hand!

”What do you all think we should do with that Spirit Mountain?” Li Zhirui inquired.

”Turn that Spirit Mountain into a Spirit Medicine Mountain and use all the cultivated Spirit Fields exclusively for planting Spiritual Medicine,” the Pill-Refining Elder Li Shihe suggested, speaking up. ”The demand for Spiritual Medicine within the family is growing larger and larger, and a large sum of Spirit Stones is spent every month to purchase them.

If the family could plant more Spiritual Medicine, then this part of the expenditure could be greatly reduced.”

Elder Li Shigui, who was responsible for planting Spirit Grain and Spiritual Medicine, suddenly lit up and eagerly added, ”Thatʼs right, we didnʼt have the means before, but now we do, and we absolutely cannot spend so many Spirit Stones on purchasing Spiritual Medicine anymore.”

Li Zhirui nodded slightly and said, ”I think this proposal is good, do any of the other Elders have other suggestions?”

The natural conditions of that Spirit Mountain were extremely favorable, with fertile soil, springs halfway up the mountain nourished by Spiritual Energy, and most importantly, a rich concentration of Spiritual Energy, making it ideal for growing Spiritual Medicine in Li Zhiruiʼs opinion as well.

”I think at the foot of the mountain, we can plant more Spirit Mulberry Trees, as well as perennially blooming Spirit Flowers, to cultivate more White Silkworms and Yellow Spirit Bees,” said Elder Li Shiyu, who was in charge of the various Spirit Beasts of the family.

The silk spat by the White Silkworms was a fine material for crafting Vestment Robes, and the honey from the Yellow Spirit Bees, apart from being directly consumed for its detoxifying and healing properties, could also be used to prolong the efficacy of Spirit Pills, making them easy-to-sell Spiritual Objects.

After contemplating for a moment, Li Zhirui thought this to be quite good as well, as it didnʼt conflict with the planting of Spiritual Medicine, and Li Shiyuʼs suggestion also sparked another thought in him.

”Arenʼt there also places around Spirit Lake suitable for establishing Spirit Fields? These areas could be used for planting Spirit Mulberry Trees and Spirit Flowers as well.”

Honestly, this location was very important for the familyʼs development but was also easy to overlook, because things were already being done so well there. All that was required was to carry on as usual, without any need for changes.

Li Shiyu nodded vigorously with excitement, as this would not only elevate his status but also contribute to the familyʼs development.

”If no one has any objections, then the Spirit Mountain will be dedicated to planting various kinds of Spiritual Medicine from now on,” Li Zhirui stated, seeing no opposition, and immediately decided on the matter.

Itʼs not that there werenʼt others who had different thoughts, but the proposal to turn it into a Spirit Medicine Mountain was indeed very appealing, and furthermore, it had the support of three Elders and Li Zhirui.

Facing such an assembly, they knew they couldnʼt compete, and since they knew their chances were slim, why offend others needlessly?
