Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 314: Chapter 314 – Those dreams again?

Voren watched all the emotions playing across Seraphine’s face and felt something warm bloom in his chest. She genuinely cared about his daughter. Not to impress him. Not because she wanted anything in return. She just cared. That realization made him love her even more.

Eventually he got up from the bed and started getting comfortable for the night. Seraphine’s eyes followed him automatically before she quickly looked away, heat flooding her cheeks. It honestly felt unfair.

No man should be allowed to look that good. The broad shoulders, the powerful chest, the effortless confidence. Everything about him seemed designed to completely wreck her common sense.

Sometimes she wondered if fate had finally decided to reward her after all the years of pain.

Other times she worried she was getting greedy, because every single time she found herself wanting more: more time with him, more conversations, more mornings, more memories, more of the future they were building together.

All those thoughts vanished the moment Voren reached for her and pulled her against him.

She let out a surprised little gasp as she landed on his chest. Before she could even react, he wrapped the duvet around both of them, cocooning them in cozy warmth. The simple gesture made her heart melt completely.

When she looked up, he was already staring at her, his eyes full of such open, genuine affection that it took her breath away. ”There are way too many things waiting for us tomorrow,” he murmured, his hand slowly running through her hair.

”Wedding stuff, festival arrangements, and probably a hundred other problems people are gonna throw at us. So for tonight, let’s forget about all of it and just get some sleep.”

The tenderness in his voice made her smile. She didn’t argue. Instead, she snuggled even closer until she could hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat again.

The room grew quiet as the outside world faded away. Wrapped up in each other’s arms, they both felt something they hadn’t experienced in a long time—real peace. The kind that came from knowing they weren’t facing life alone anymore.

As the night stretched on, their breathing slowly fell into sync. Their bodies relaxed deeper into the mattress while exhaustion finally caught up with them, and sleep came naturally after that.

There were no worries about tomorrow, no fears about the future, no loneliness. Just warmth, comfort, and the quiet certainty that when morning came, they’d face whatever waited for them together.

But when Seraphine finally woke up the next morning, that sleepy contentment vanished in a flash, replaced by pure shock at what Voren had done for her.

Voren had only managed to catch about two hours of sleep before his eyes popped open again.

Most people would’ve been completely wiped out after the kind of day they’d had, but he’d accepted a long time ago that his body just didn’t work like everyone else’s.

The Alpha blood running through his veins gave him plenty of advantages, and one of the biggest was being able to push through on barely any rest when he needed to.

For a long moment, he stayed right where he was, quietly watching the woman sleeping peacefully beside him.

Moonlight filtered softly through the curtains, casting a gentle glow across Seraphine’s face. Her hair was fanned out over the pillow, and her breathing stayed slow and steady, completely lost in sleep and totally unaware that he was awake.

A warm smile tugged at his lips as he reached over and carefully pulled the duvet higher around her shoulders. The temperature had dropped during the night, and the last thing he wanted was for her to wake up feeling chilly.

She instinctively snuggled deeper into the blanket without even opening her eyes, and the sight of it made something soft and warm settle deep in Voren’s chest. goddess, he could watch her sleep for hours if life would let him.

But responsibilities were always waiting. With a reluctant sigh, Voren slipped out of bed and quietly left the room.

The mansion was dead silent, the kind of deep, heavy quiet that only settles in during the middle of the night. As he moved through the hallways, his Alpha instincts kicked in automatically, scanning everything around him.

The security systems were all active. Maids were asleep in their quarters, and everything looked normal. Everything felt safe. Still, he checked anyway. It had become second nature years ago.

Ever since Marigold came into his life, his life had stopped being just about himself. Every door he passed got a quick glance, every corridor was mentally inspected, and every possible threat got noted. Being an Alpha was one thing, but being a father? That was something else entirely.

Eventually he reached Jasmine’s room. The light under the door was off, confirming she was sound asleep. Satisfied, he kept walking until he spotted a familiar glow coming from another door. Voren let out a soft sigh. Some things never changed. Of course it was Marigold’s room.

Shaking his head with a little amusement, he approached the door and knocked lightly before stepping inside. The second he entered, he caught a blur of movement as papers quickly vanished under a pillow.

It was fast enough to fool most people, but not an Alpha werewolf. A grin spread across Voren’s face. ”Hiding things from Daddy again?” he asked.

Bright, innocent laughter erupted from the bed. Marigold looked completely unbothered about getting caught. ”If Daddy saw them, Daddy wouldn’t believe me anyway.”

Voren closed the door behind him and crossed the room. The little girl scooted over right away, making space for him on the bed.

He climbed in beside her and pulled her onto his lap like he usually did. She settled comfortably against his chest, and his arms wrapped around her automatically.

”Those dreams again?” he asked, the amusement fading a bit from his expression. Whatever Voren did not have a solution too, was a worry he carried like a burden.
