Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 1849: Chapter 1829:

He Wenyu never expected that by merely grilling a fish with Luo Qianqian, they would end up surrounded by a group of dwarves, all of whom were curiously observing them, making it awkward for the two of them to eat alone...

Luo Qianqian was somewhat amused and frustrated, as they didn’t speak but just stared directly, which made it impossible to eat.

It seemed as if what they were doing was dangerous, yet when offered, the dwarves still refused to take it.

By observing the attire of the elders in the house and the dwarves who carried the wooden barrels, they could easily discern these were female dwarves.

After all... there was an additional piece of clothing.

”Eat, eat. It’s not poisonous.” Luo Qianqian tore off a piece of fish and stuffed it into her mouth, then handed the remaining portion to a little dwarf child closest to her.

After hesitating for a moment, the little dwarf accepted it, and upon tasting a piece, became very excited. Soon, thanks to He Wenyu’s grilled fish, everyone sat together and started a fish grilling feast, with plenty of delicious wild fruit, making Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu happy as well.

However, these people seemed self-conscious and timid, completely different from the bold male dwarves they met earlier. Was this the epitome of a patriarchal society?

Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but think about this. However, if the dwarf tribe passed on such habits, she’d make no apologies, as she wasn’t the type to bear grievances in silence.

She’s petty, and never forgets a slight!

”Tasty.” The little dwarf sat in front of Luo Qianqian and smiled sweetly at her. Luo Qianqian returned a gentle smile, taking out a candy and put it in the little dwarf’s mouth. Though a bit scared, the little dwarf ate it. The surrounding female dwarves were filled with tension, unsure of what to do.

Seeing the strange and tense gaze around them, He Wenyu smiled wryly and glared at Luo Qianqian: ”Can you share it out so everyone can have some? Look, you’ve scared them.”

Only then did Luo Qianqian notice the stares around her, feeling a bit embarrassed, quickly took out candies from her pocket, ate a piece herself: ”This, it’s sweet, also delicious. Little kids love it so...”

The crowd watched as Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu ate, and nervously took it to try themselves, soon showing expressions of happiness like little dwarves, cheeks puffing with enjoyment.

”The rest are for you, take them and eat.” Luo Qianqian looked at the remaining dozen candies, generously handing them to the little dwarf: ”But after eating, you need to rinse your mouth, so your teeth don’t decay.”

Though the little dwarf didn’t understand what Luo Qianqian was saying, she nodded earnestly, her mouth wouldn’t be home to bugs.

The group was chatting happily, most importantly eating merrily, but soon someone came looking, respectfully inviting Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu to come back inside. The looks given to those who were with them were icy cold. The little dwarf who was smiling and cheerful a moment ago suddenly had a dismal face, with fear and panic, as if they had done something wrong.

Next second, the little dwarf holding onto Luo Qianqian was kicked by a male dwarf, but Luo Qianqian instinctively picked up the little dwarf and gracefully dodged the male dwarf’s attack, defensively looking at him.

Yet in the following moment, the female dwarves who had been friendly just now were all on their knees, casting blaming eyes on Luo Qianqian and He Wenyu. Only the little dwarf clung to Luo Qianqian, eyes tearing up, holding on tightly to her sleeve, refusing to kneel.

Luo Qianqian felt it was strange, they were happily conversing just a moment ago, why did they suddenly turn hostile? Even glaring at her with such venomous eyes? Did she commit some heinous crime?

Thinking this, she turned to look at He Wenyu perplexed, who showed the same odd expression, as Luo Qianqian hadn’t done anything wrong?

If she hadn’t pulled the little dwarf away, they would have been kicked!

Yet the male dwarf felt no issue, merely issuing commands to the kneeling female dwarves with impatience.

While the little dwarf ignored the female dwarves trying to pull her back, holding onto Luo Qianqian, saying nothing, just fixed her eyes on her.

Luo Qianqian was silent: ”...”

She looked at He Wenyu, who also showed reluctance, then shook her head at Luo Qianqian: ”Take her to Mo first, and ask what’s happening.”

If not for worrying about hurting the little dwarf’s pride, she would have asked why this one was particularly different.

There were other little dwarves around, but none played with her, she quietly, exceptionally close to the two of them.

Luo Qianqian placed the little dwarf on the ground, holding her hand, spoke to the male dwarf: ”I’ll take her, it’s fine.”

As it was apparent these female dwarves had no opinion of their own, lacking decisiveness, she directly addressed the male dwarf, the only one who they would listen to.

The male dwarf glanced over, slowly nodded: ”You are the honored guest of the Great Elder, please.”

Though his attitude improved, it remained arrogant.

The two followed the male dwarf, Luo Qianqian still leading the little one, who timidly appeared scared.

”You’re not thinking of taking her, right? Like a specialty?” He Wenyu couldn’t help asking, although she looked like an ordinary little child, but who knows, she might become bark-like in future, standing out oddly, likely causing trouble.

”I’m just being caring, do you think I’m someone who collects second-hand goods, taking not just items but people too?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes: ”Though there’s intense discrimination here.”

”Indeed.” He Wenyu agreed wholeheartedly, sensing the women here were ingrained with subservience.

Outside, though men were allowed to have multiple wives, it never felt as exaggerated as here, a total patriarchal society indeed.

”Most importantly, they think everyone should be like this.” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes in displeasure: ”If it were me, I would’ve rebelled already. Kudos to their patience...”

”Suddenly reminded of Chen Sheng and Wu Guang’s uprising.”

”Are you saying I would end in failure?”

”Um... Besides, there’s no need, you’re not from the dwarf tribe.” He Wenyu said calmly.
