Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 1729: Chapter 1709:

”Actually, Laoer, you could try cooking something. How about I go catch a couple of fish for you?” The old man chuckled, offering his suggestion, seeing that the spices were right there on the stove, so easy to grab.

”Makes sense!” Fu Qing stood up. Missing lunch was torture he could no longer tolerate!

When it’s intolerable, it needs no further tolerance!

He’s going to challenge himself!

Soon, he presented a few pieces of blackened fish and a large indefinite mass of black, questioning life itself as he walked out, ”Want to try some?”

The old man peeked over and shook his head repeatedly, ”No, no...”

”I suspect that the ones they grilled and mine aren’t even the same kind of fish,” Fu Qing declared confidently. ”Otherwise, in the same amount of time, I also added salt. Why is it that besides the initial aroma, there’s no taste at all?”

He Wenyu did grill the fish with salt, that’s true, but... He Wenyu had an extra ingredient, which was foil.

Clean the fish properly, spread some salt on it, wrap it in foil, and that ensures even heating and prevents charring.

But none of that was done, and the fish wasn’t prepared either. Hoping to grill a tender fish like that is impossible.

”You could try boiling it; I really like that,” the old man suggested again, implying that Fu Qing still had a long way to go. He hadn’t even learned to cook with water yet, and wanted to use fire? It’s like a child trying to run before learning to walk.

”You’re right, I’ll give it a try.” Fu Qing quickly headed back to the kitchen.

The old man couldn’t help but let his imagination run wild. If Fu Qing learned how, they wouldn’t have to eat according to the girls’ tastes every day; they could eat what they liked. But of course, this assumed Fu Qing actually managed to pull it off.

However, soon after, thick black smoke began billowing out of the kitchen, signaling the complete failure of this attempt and making it unbearable to stay inside...

Coughing violently, Fu Qing came out, his cheeks blackened, face full of tears, and his eyes red, as if thinking of something that deeply saddened him.

”I can’t do it anymore...” Fu Qing collapsed to the ground, lying there uncontrollably with tears streaming down.

The old man approached curiously, only to be driven back by the pungent and eye-watering smell emanating from Fu Qing, stepping back several paces with disbelief, ”What did you do?”

”Cough cough...” Fu Qing waved his hand, indicating he couldn’t speak.

The old man had a bad feeling, and after a gust of wind scattered some of the black smoke from the yard, he went into the kitchen.

Looking at the red and black striped mixture in the pot, he was dumbfounded, ”What on earth happened here?”

But the smoke quickly drove him out again, the kitchen continuing to spew black smoke.

Before long, having received the news, He Wenyu and Luo Qianqian hurried back, and were stunned to see the kitchen.

”This fool...” Luo Qianqian unceremoniously conjured a ball of water, preparing to go in.

He Wenyu quickly held her back, ”Don’t, alternating high and low temperatures could lead to an explosion.”

”I know, I’ll put out the fire under the pot first, isolate the temperature, and let it cool down slowly,” Luo Qianqian said as she protected herself and charged into the kitchen. Soon, the black smoke began to dissipate. He Wenyu was amazed; even without relieving the heat, it shouldn’t have cooled so quickly, should it?

Hastily going into the kitchen, he saw Luo Qianqian had covered the pot with a lid, standing aside with a look of speechless dismay at the surrounding mess.

At a glance, there were fish scales and bones on the floor and a kitchen knife...

It was almost unimaginable to have those things together, not to mention so messy, and on the chopping board, there was...

”They didn’t cut these up for cooking, did they...” Looking at the near-empty pot of Devil Chili Peppers, He Wenyu was at a loss for words.

The very reason he dared to place them there was that he wasn’t worried about them being eaten, and yet they were all used?

The last time he only used a few, there should’ve been dozens left, yet these two are still acting fairly normal, without odd reactions.

And the container of cooking oil beside it was missing; clearly, it’s gone in somewhere...

”And why would they put oil in there? Trying to make chili oil? Did you teach them?” Luo Qianqian was equally speechless.

”How could I have taught them?” He Wenyu was equally baffled, ”I’m inclined to think you taught them. If it wasn’t for your apprentice, how could he nearly destroy this kitchen?”

Looking up, the wood overhead was blackened, the original color unidentifiable.

This kind of skill level isn’t something just anyone can achieve, is it?

”Stop joking, this is way beyond the master,” Luo Qianqian waved her hands hurriedly. She certainly didn’t have a knack for ruining kitchens like this, having successfully cooked noodles after all.

”Let’s get out of here, it’s starting to make me choke.” He Wenyu coughed lightly, full of helplessness.

Luo Qianqian nodded, and the two walked out of the kitchen to see two individuals playing innocent in the yard.

Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”I’m heading out, you guys keep at it.”

”I’m out too, good luck,” He Wenyu said, not mentioning anything further. The two left hand in hand, not saying another word.

Watching them leave, the old man’s face turned awkward, although he wasn’t the mastermind, he didn’t stop Fu Qing either, so he was at fault, albeit a minor one.

The real culprit was Fu Qing.

Fu Qing looked equally innocent at this moment. After everything he’d done, couldn’t those two consider taking pity on him? However... even if they didn’t care anymore, he would definitely not step into that place again. Feeling his dry, itching eyes, he instinctively raised his hand.

Rubbing his eyes absentmindedly, the next moment: ”Ahhh!!!! My eyes!!!”

Not too far away, He Wenyu and Luo Qianqian were dumbfounded upon hearing this noise, yet they didn’t turn back. After all, turning back wouldn’t help; they weren’t foolish enough to rub their eyes with chili-covered hands.

Even if they returned, at best, they could only watch with cold detachment and say a few things: wash with water, wash more...

But his hands were covered in chili, wouldn’t rinsing make it worse?

Surely the old man would have a solution, right?

After all, the old man was the teacher of Yan and Mo, wasn’t he?

So, all they did was pause momentarily, then continue onward; such things should be known even without being told, yes?

Though perhaps this rather frustrated senior brother might never recover from this experience.

The two were tacitly silent about the voice, leaving hand in hand in silence.
