Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 1546: Chapter 1526: The Impotent Prince Consort

However, the next day, new rumors spread throughout the streets and alleys: the new Prince Consort was impotent and was thrown out of the bridal chamber on the wedding day, expelled from the Princess Mansion...

It was said that the reason the new Prince Consort pursued Miss Shiliu regardless of others’ opinions was to seek the Sect’s help to cure his hidden illness.

But these rumors clearly... originated from the servants of the Princess Mansion; as for the true initiator of these gossip, it’s easy to imagine.

He Wenyu sat upright in the small courtyard, holding a folding fan to fan Lin Jiayou beside him, while Luo Qianqian watched Lin Jiayou with a compliant face, holding a cup of tea.

Lin Jiayou laughed and said, ”Now, you recognize your brother’s goodness? Go, Little Shiqi, wash an apple for me and cut it into small pieces, Little Shiqi, pour a cup of hot tea and cook a soup for me, I need a proper nourishment.”

He Wenyu looked at Lin Jiayou incredulously: ”Are you sure?”

Luo Qianqian also looked excited but with a slightly incredulous expression; however, her radiant expression could not be ignored.

”Uh... I almost forgot, you two swap tasks, and don’t blow up the kitchen, I really have no intention of being reprimanded by the Master.” Lin Jiayou quickly waved his hand.

Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes but said nothing more, and went to wash the apple with a sense of liberty.

”How long is he going to flaunt himself?” Bai Yizhu looked at Lin Jiayou’s attitude with disbelief, in their courtyard, apart from Shiba, who was as timid as a mouse, there were only these two little girls, and now they’re being bossed around?

Luo Shufan sighed: ”Calculating the situation, at least he will boast all morning, after all, this was... done beautifully.”

Even though Lin Jiayou’s behavior was looked down upon at the moment, there was no denying that these rumors were remarkably well-crafted.

And since they originated from the Princess Mansion, no one would suspect the Princess Mansion helping a Sect with no relation. Moreover, even if the Eldest Princess was fond of handsome men, she would never make advances towards the Sect’s people.

Even the Royal Family does not have the capability to confront the wrath of a Sect.

Unless the Sect standing behind them would step in for them.

However, stepping in for a Princess, especially regarding such matters, would be beneath them.

”Hey, do you think that little girl might bear his one and only child in her life?” Huangfu Yihui spoke eagerly to Luo Shufan. Despite only six people going to stir trouble, upon their return, inquiries were to be expected. Therefore, those who knew the details weren’t just a few of them.

”Ha ha... Even if she did, she might not be able to give birth. Moreover, she might not want to have the baby. This fallen young master, a Prince Consort sent back home, is an unstable source of support.” Yann Yao nodded, but the mockery in his tone was evident, ”The Du Family isn’t the Royal Family, and Du Lanming is clearly out of the picture, the future resources are likely to tilt towards the eldest son, right?”

”The Du Family’s eldest son? Isn’t he in the palace...” Huangfu Yihui paused.

”After all, even in front of that person, although he’s a military general, the treatment he receives isn’t necessarily inferior to that of the legitimate son.” Yann Yao smirked, ”I am looking forward to the next act. This shouldn’t be the end, just a beginning, right?”

Yann Yao’s guess was correct; Lin Jiayou’s satisfaction in commanding the two little girls came from feeling proud of his strategic manipulation.

Before long, after marriage one day, separation the next, even decreed by His Majesty, it quickly became the city’s big joke.

Combined with previous events, it wasn’t just Du Lanming who became the city’s laughingstock, but the entire Du Residence.

Previously, due to Old Madam Du’s birthday banquet, the Du Residence had enjoyed brief prominence, but suddenly they fell from grace.

Once lauded by the ladies, Du Yuwei became a joke overnight; she secluded herself within the Rose Garden, violently smashing objects.

”Miss, calm down, Miss, calm down.” Seeing the room full of porcelain remnants, broken Beautiful Jade of Brocade, the maids were uneasy but there was nothing else they could do but say this.

”How could things turn out like this!” Du Yuwei furiously shattered the last vase before weakly falling into a chair.

The Du Family, despite not being one of the big families, had His Majesty’s favor, allowing them to hold a place in the ever-changing city.

But within a few days, the tides turned, leaving her perplexed.

First, they lost face, then her second brother became a laughingstock... All of this seemed incredible.

”Miss...” Seeing Du Yuwei’s state, the maids were speechless with concern.

At this moment, Du Yuwei suddenly stood up, slapped her thigh forcefully: ”It’s Luo Shiliu!”

The vicious voice made everyone around tremble in fear—was this really the gentle fifth miss?

Du Yuwei gritted her teeth in fury at those around her: ”Since that Luo Shiliu appeared, our family hasn’t had a peaceful day! She’s a demoness! I want to find my brother, dress me, I need to see the Old Madam!”

”Yes, Miss.”

Everyone around was timidly unsure what to say, following Du Yuwei’s orders blindly.

They redressed the fierce and shabby woman, transforming her back into the elegant, gentle-natured young lady.

”Hiss”

The trembling small maid accidentally tugged on Du Yuwei’s hair, drawing a cold gasp from her.

”Slap”

She stood up and swung around to slap the maid: ”Nothing works, everything is useless! Take her away!”

The small maid looked incredulous; she was a second-class maid of the Rose Garden and was just dismissed?

For a moment, not just the others, even the four maids who always stayed by Du Yuwei’s side shivered, silent as cicadas facing winter.

Whether it was a display of power or impulsive rage didn’t matter anymore; what mattered was that they had to be doubly cautious to avoid mistakes.

Donning a slightly frail-looking teal gown, Du Yuwei directly headed for the Pine and Cypress Garden of the Old Madam.

”Old Madam, honestly, I am perfectly fine, truly, the Eldest Princess never touched me.” Before even entering, she heard Du Lanming despairingly cry out.

Instantly her face filled with sorrow, neglecting the maid’s need for announcement, she pushed the door open: ”Grandmother, I trust my second brother is fine, ever since that Luo Shiliu entered our Du Residence, trouble has been fomenting without warning, I suspect Luo Shiliu tampered with your birthday gifts!”
