Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Having received Jimo Cheng’s permission, Luo Qianqian excitedly jumped up, a face full of happiness.

”Why are you guys not in class again?” Jimo Kong looked at both with confusion, ”Here to see the ’date paste’ again?”

”Date paste?” Luo Qianqian’s face was full of puzzlement.

”Isn’t it? That black cotton horse.” Jimo Kong said solemnly, ”If it’s not ’date paste’, then it’s ’red bean paste’.” Anyway, it’s a mooncake.

”Grandpa, it’s called ’Assorted’...” Jimo Cheng said, shaking his head speechlessly.

And what in the world is a black cotton horse? I’ve heard of cotton sheep but never of a species called cotton horse. And to be honest, alpacas look more like camels, don’t they?

”Right, right, right, I just remember it’s a mooncake.” Old Master Jimo nodded repeatedly, slapping his forehead. Surely, with old age, comes a tendency to forget things.

Luo Qianqian had a face full of black lines, seeming to agree? It indeed was a mooncake?

”In any case, you’re not in a hurry, so let’s talk.” Jimo Kong looked at them both, unhurried, and said seriously.

Luo Qianqian was a bit startled, then nodded. She understood that it must be the confusion about Gongyang Chou, a touch of exclamation on her face.

”Grandpa, please don’t treat us like we’re being interrogated for a crime.” Jimo Cheng looked at Jimo Kong’s stern face and sighed with a sense of helplessness, ”We haven’t done anything wrong.”

Who knew, Luo Qianqian appeared wronged, ”I did make a mistake, I dirtied the floor...” saying this, she pursed her lips, ”At worst, I can help clean it up, Grandpa Kong, please don’t be angry.”

”You cleaning up for what.” Jimo Kong was full of helplessness, turning around to glare at his grandson, ”Can’t you stop causing trouble? What will you do if you scare Jin Yuee?”

”Yeah, I’ll take responsibility.” Jimo Cheng was surprisingly calm. Gongyang Che’s appearance had indeed given him a sense of crisis. He didn’t understand why this person had to show up but, beyond doubt, this also showed that Luo Qianqian was special, worth the chase.

But he had known that long ago.

Luo Qianqian was kind-hearted and caring, loyal and smart, and what’s more, she was always there for her family and friends. He was glad that his little fiancée was such a person.

Luo Qianqian burst into laughter, ”Grandpa Kong, don’t scare my senior brother, okay? What if I really get frightened silly, wouldn’t my senior brother cry then?”

”You two really can talk.” Jimo Kong also felt rather helpless, shaking his head with a slight smile, ”That’s right, I haven’t seen you bring the Jade Flute with you either?”

Luo Qianqian was startled, then nodded, ”I left it at home. Carrying it on me always feels unsafe, having to pay too much attention to it so I end up not focusing on other things.”

”That’s good,” Jimo Kong nodded, ”I’ll make a practice one for you later, so you don’t have to worry so much.”

Luo Qianqian had a face full of black lines, even if it’s just for practice, with its material and craftsmanship, how could it not matter?

Laughing, Jimo Cheng said, ”Grandpa, it would still be better to make a few more, to ease Jin Yuee’s mind. Even if one gets broken, there would be spares...”

```
”You are asking for it again.” Jimo Kong looked at his grandson with a serious face and shook his head helplessly, ”And causing a bunch of trouble, from now on I might as well call you ’Trouble.’ Would it be alright for me to give you a beating?”
But when the three of them entered the room, the smiles disappeared, and their faces turned serious, ”What is wrong with the Gongyang Family? Can’t they find something better to do than to target our Jimo Family?”
Luo Qianqian shrugged her shoulders, probably a ’kick them while they’re down’ mentality? But that, she would never say.
”Grandpa, is it because of your history with Gongyang Chou?” Jimo Cheng had some understanding of the older generations’ affairs, ”Wasn’t it said that grandma...”
Hearing the word ’grandma,’ Jimo Kong’s expression relaxed, full of reminiscence, ”Your grandma, ah, she was such a tender person...”
Watching Jimo Kong lost in memories, Luo Qianqian and Jimo Cheng looked at each other, speechless after a moment. So that was it? That was the extent of the conversation before you drifted into nostalgia, leaving us here standing like fools, without even anything to imagine?
”Your grandma was the most famously beautiful woman of the Thirteen Clans at that time,” Jimo Kong suddenly smiled and spoke slowly, ”Back then, not just me, even the most talented and gifted young men couldn’t help but fall at the hem of her white dress. Every frown and smile captured hearts, and her eyes were filled with charm...”
Luo Qianqian thought that even if she had never met the woman in question, just by looking at the difference between Jimo Cheng and Old Master Jimo, she could imagine what a heart-stirring beauty she must have been.
After all, if Jimo Cheng were a woman, she would undoubtedly throw caution to the wind and try to set her up with Luo Shufan as a sister-in-law, regardless of the family differences.
However, Luo Qianqian heard a new term, something she had never heard before... the Thirteen Clans?
”At that time, Gongyang Chou was also one of my strongest opponents,” continued Jimo Kong, ”but, ah, your grandmother was nevertheless attracted to me. Back in the day, I was a dashing and handsome young man, so charming that cars would stop and flowers bloom wherever I went (Here one thousand words of self-praise are omitted)...”
”Wow...” Luo Qianqian looked at Old Master Jimo with admiration.
Hmm, it didn’t take much thought to know what she admired; without a doubt, it was Old Master Jimo’s self-praise. To say so much self-flattery without a blush, and with hardly any significant pause or break in his speech, smoothly completing his self-aggrandizing monologue...
Luo Qianqian found herself clapping involuntarily.
This made Old Master Jimo feel a bit smug.
”So, Grandpa, was it because of self-love that Grandma liked you?” Jimo Cheng asked, somewhat surprisedly looking at Jimo Kong.
Jimo Kong almost spat out a mouthful of old blood at his grandson. Is that how you talk about your grandfather?
”Is this self-love? I am stating facts! Do you understand? Facts!” Jimo Kong glared at his grandson and then looked at Luo Qianqian clapping on the side, filled with an impulse to let out tears of frustration. No wonder they say granddaughters are better than grandsons. Look at Luo Qianqian, then at my own family’s embarrassing ancestor, he shook his head helplessly, ”Regardless, I used to have both looks and talent.”
”Yes, yes, yes,” Jimo Cheng hastily nodded. Now was not the time for him to speak out of turn and stir up trouble.
”So, your grandma was attracted to me, and then Gongyang Chou, who always matched me in every aspect, never took it well and would always seek to challenge me. However, our various competitions resulted in a tie almost half the time.”
Jimo Kong spoke with a yearning look, ”Back then, it truly was... having the person you loved right beside you, and a rival who was open and aboveboard, who wouldn’t stab you in the back, unlike now...”
