Omni-Anime: I Stand at the Forefront of Popularity

Chapter 26: Chapter 27 : Chaotic Viewers Always Go Off in the Strangest Directions

It was a rare day off. The temperature was pleasant—a perfect day for a walk.

Hanabi moved down the streets of Konoha with her hands folded neatly in front of her, taking small, measured steps. Each step barely cleared half the length of her foot. The kimono was fitted close to her body—which also meant she couldn’t stride freely.

And yet her movements showed no awkwardness whatsoever. It was as though the fabric imposed no restriction at all; she simply strolled at a leisurely pace, unhurried and composed.

Everything carried a sense of effortless, natural grace.

This was progress—in acting.

Not a leap in raw performance technique, but something subtler: the integration of performance into her daily life, into her very way of being.

It wasn’t about performing gentleness. It wasn’t a performed Yamato Nadeshiko. It was about radiating refinement and elegance from the inside out.

Following Master Jingliu’s instructions, Hanabi had pushed her training limiter to the maximum. She was constrained to roughly the level of a frail young woman—gravity pressing on her body, the garment itself imposing its own binding resistance. For training purposes, the difficulty was exactly right.

And somehow, walking like this accomplished more than any amount of desperate drilling.

”Master Jingliu really is something,” Hanabi couldn’t help but think.

”I see—by channeling chakra to her feet, even without taking full strides, she’s actually moving faster than a normal walk. Maybe even faster?”

The voice came from nearby.

”Good day. Sasuke.”

Hanabi turned.

Sasuke stood watching her, hands in his pockets.

After Kakashi’s offhand remark the other day, he’d started paying closer attention.

Hanabi looked unhurried—and yet her speed was remarkable. ”Weighted resistance? No—resistance training? Using precise chakra control to regulate her movement distance per step... is that also training?”

Rather than modifying the movement itself, she was using chakra as a supplementary mechanism. Sasuke was taken aback by her precision in coordinating chakra with muscle.

Since their last encounter, he’d started wearing weights himself, and he understood exactly what they did to a body—every single motion felt the interference. Yet Hanabi moved with complete naturalness, as though none of it existed. The level of control was nothing short of astonishing.

”More or less,” Hanabi said. ”Though you wouldn’t be able to replicate this yet.”

”Why not?” Sasuke wanted to know.

”My senses are sharper than average. By extending my chakra outward, I can perceive my surroundings with fine-grained precision. It’s delicate work—you understand?”

Sasuke did understand.

Hanabi had been doing this for ten years. Her chakra precision was worlds apart from his.

”And I was still proud of myself,” he thought, somewhere in the back of his mind.

But his ”pressure king” reputation wasn’t unearned.

When a prodigy had been working harder—under greater strain—than he had, Sasuke had to admit he hadn’t been doing enough.

”Hanabi. Train me.” Sasuke’s voice was steady. ”Kakashi is too lax. But I can’t keep going like this. There’s something I have to do. Someone I have to kill. So—please. Train me.”

Uchiha Sasuke had a mission he could not abandon: to kill the man who had annihilated the Uchiha clan. To kill his own older brother.

”Hanabi!” A shout rang out from somewhere down the road, cutting through the moment.

There was only one person with that much energy in the morning.

Both Hanabi and Sasuke recognized the voice instantly.

”Oh, it’s Sasuke! What are you doing with Hanabi?!”

Naruto came sprinting toward them. He’d been plenty happy to see Hanabi—but then he spotted Sasuke, and his mood soured immediately.

”Since you’re both here—let’s begin.”

Hanabi spoke simply.

”Huh? Begin what?” Naruto was completely lost.

Hanabi paid him no mind and headed toward the forest at the edge of the village.

Her attention, meanwhile, had been drawn to a feed that had just come online.

The footage wasn’t from the present moment—it was footage of Sasuke training, alongside a separate scene of Naruto at home poring over a ninja scroll. Even though it was a day off, both of them had clearly started training first thing in the morning.

[Reporting for duty]

[First!]

[Same weighted gear as in the OP]

[Here we go, filler time]

[Hey, I’ve had my eye on you—you’ve been saying ”filler” since episode one. Either watch or don’t]

[Ignore that type. They’re the kind who’d watch MyGO and call it filler. Don’t engage, you’ll just sink to their level]

[Weird, somehow my wife seems even more charming today, prpr]

[Quick, hike up the skirt, I want to lick the ice cream!]

[I think we should crowdfund some boots for Hanabi. She’s been walking around in this footwear all day, those feet must be really... mouthwatering]

[Someone drag that guy away!]

The sixth episode of the source material had been set to open the Land of Waves arc—but the Dimensional Popularity Stage had inserted a bonus slice-of-life episode right here.

Hanabi had no objection. More screentime meant more popularity to harvest.

”Why are we out here, anyway?” Naruto trailed along after Hanabi and Sasuke in a daze, still completely in the dark.

[True to form—still catching up]

[So my wife’s chakra control is really that precise, huh]

[Looks like training. Betting the next episode is going to be intense]

[Episode 7 or 8 is the swimsuit episode, right?]

[This is a long-form series. There are no swimsuit episodes]

[I heard Molotov is going to do a critique of some new shows—apparently he’s covering Ninja’s Path]

[Ugh, waited forever for Eight’s take and instead we get Molotov. Tragic]

[Grass (a plant)]

[As long as he doesn’t jinx it, I’d rather he take shots at it]

[Just roast him back if he does]

The viewers were chattering among themselves. The figures they mentioned—”Eight” and ”Molotov”—appeared to be prominent anime commentary creators on the platform.

”Of course we’re here to train.” Hanabi walked to the base of a tree. ”Naruto, Sasuke—your potential is strong. Even against a Chūnin, you’d have a fighting chance. But your chakra control is rough and unrefined.”

As she spoke, she stepped onto the trunk.

She simply walked up it—her feet clinging to the wood as if held there by invisible force.

Naruto and Sasuke both stared.

[Damn]

[As expected of Lady Hanabi—she makes it look effortless]

[Walking up a tree—ugh, my long-dead chuunibyou soul is stirring again]

[If Hanabi goes upside down, will her skirt flip over?]

[Are you kidding? Have you never heard of 2D anti-gravity skirts?]

The viewers really were something—their minds had already leapt to absurd conclusions, and even Hanabi couldn’t help feeling exasperated.

Not that they’d get what they were hoping for. The kimono was fitted too snugly—even upside down, nothing was coming loose.

Hanabi walked from trunk to branch, then continued until she was hanging upside down beneath the limb, perfectly still:

”This is Stage One of your training. If you can complete it within a week—hmm. I know. I’ll treat you both to a stay at a hot spring inn~”

[No swimsuit episode after all!]

[Hanabi promises a reward—translation: doomed]

[Ha! Someone literally just predicted swimsuit episode and she immediately vetoed it]

[It’s all over. Everything is over]

The chaotic viewers were saying strange things again.

Hanabi tilted her head.

She had a feeling she was accumulating some very unusual traits in this audience’s minds.
