I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 319: Chapter 301: You’re Not Asking Teacher Chu to Sleep Here Tonight?

So, Li You said, ”If Uncle Duan could help dig one up and bring it over, that would be wonderful.”

Duan Canghong smiled. ”No problem.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

After that, the two chatted for a while longer about fruits and wild berries.

Lin Guodong also mentioned that he planned to have dinner at the restaurant that evening.

Li You said they were more than welcome.

...

「At four in the afternoon.」

Lin Guodong and Duan Canghong took their leave. They were heading back to pick up Lin Guodong’s family.

The others rested in the restaurant.

Li You chatted with them. They all got along quite well.

Before long, Lin Guodong and Duan Canghong returned with Lin Guodong’s family in tow.

Li You was already fairly familiar with Lin Guodong’s family, so he went up to greet them.

Lin Guodong’s family members were all delighted and exchanged pleasantries with Li You.

Soon, it was five o’clock.

Duan Canghong said to Lin Guodong, ”Cousin, I think we can start ordering now.”

Duan Canghong and the others had been growing impatient for a while.

Lin Guodong smiled. ”Alright, it’s about time.”

Then he turned to Li You. ”Xiaoyou, two pounds of spicy crayfish, half a braised chicken, and a bowl of steamed pork with preserved vegetables. Also, one order each of boiled cabbage in broth, Longjing Shrimp, Chopped Pepper Fish Head, crucian carp with patchouli, twice-cooked pork with garlic sprouts, stir-fried shredded potatoes, mapo tofu, and tomato egg drop soup.”

They ordered everything, including the braised chicken and steamed pork with preserved vegetables they had already eaten for lunch.

Duan Canghong and his friends were thrilled but also a little embarrassed, repeatedly telling Lin Guodong he was spending too much.

Li You nodded, asked everyone to wait a moment, and went into the kitchen.

”Oh, right, the wine,” Lin Guodong added. ”I have to let you guys experience the best wine in the world. Cousin, want some? If you drink, you can just leave your motorcycle here and pick it up tomorrow. We’ll get a motorcycle taxi home tonight.”

Duan Canghong laughed. ”Of course, I’m drinking! How could I pass up a supreme vintage that Master Guyi himself called a brew fit only for the heavens?”

Lin Guodong let out a hearty laugh. ”Good. In that case, let’s get a bowl for everyone who’s drinking.”

Duan Canghong and the others who wanted to drink all agreed.

Lin Guodong called for Da Bai to serve the wine.

After Da Bai brought the wine to the table, Duan Canghong and the others took just one sip and were completely astounded, filled with an unprecedented excitement.

The deliciousness of this wine was simply unimaginable. No wonder Master Guyi had called it a supreme vintage fit only for the heavens.

Duan Canghong and his friends finally understood what he meant.

It made them incredibly emotional. To think that in this lifetime, they would get to drink such a fine wine.

Having tasted this wine, they felt they could die with no regrets, at least when it came to alcohol.

Lin Guodong chuckled and said, ”Getting to drink this makes us luckier than over ninety-nine percent of the people in our country. So far, very, very few people have tasted this wine or even know that a place like this exists.”

Hearing this, Duan Canghong and the others grew even more excited, and they all thanked Lin Guodong profusely.

If it weren’t for Lin Guodong, they would never have been able to taste this wine or become one of the lucky few.

Lin Guodong roared with laughter, absolutely delighted.

Just then, the dishes began to arrive one by one.

Duan Canghong and the others already knew what the steamed pork and braised chicken tasted like. But every other dish was a huge, unknown surprise.

Duan Canghong’s group was surprised again and again, their excitement and thrill building with each new plate.

As expected, every single dish was a delicacy that defied description.

This included dishes as mundane as stir-fried shredded potatoes, something Duan Canghong and the others had eaten countless times before.

’So even the most common, ordinary dish can be turned into an unimaginably delicious meal.’

’Is this the skill of a true master chef?’

’Incredible!’

At that moment, Lin Guodong said, ”So? You all see now, right? Even the most ordinary ingredients can be transformed into an exquisite delicacy that words can’t describe.”

Duan Canghong and the others nodded eagerly. They had indeed seen the light.

All they could say was that it was just too damn awesome.

The boiled cabbage in broth was the last to be served, the grand finale of the meal.

Lin Guodong said excitedly, ”It’s here! The boiled cabbage in broth is finally here. Everyone, try the soup first. Tell me if you think there could possibly be a better soup than this!”

Duan Canghong and the others couldn’t wait and immediately began to ladle the soup into their bowls.

After one taste, all they could say was that they wholeheartedly agreed with Lin Guodong.

It truly felt impossible that any other soup could be more delicious than this one.

This dish cost 568 yuan per serving. It was expensive, but it was absolutely worth it!

Lin Guodong then added, ”Let me tell you about this dish. If you wanted to eat this anywhere else, you’d have to go to a high-end hotel. Only those places serve it. The price is at least several hundred, maybe even over a thousand yuan per serving. And the taste is nowhere near as good as it is here.”

Hearing this made Duan Canghong and the others even more thrilled.

In that case, being able to eat this dish here was also a stroke of incredible luck.

Everyone raised their bowls to toast Lin Guodong, thanking him once again for bringing them here.

Lin Guodong laughed heartily, in an excellent mood.

Just then, more customers arrived to eat.

The atmosphere in the restaurant once again became lively and bustling.

Feeling the restaurant’s vibrant energy and realizing they were now a part of it, contributors to the lively atmosphere, Duan Canghong and his friends felt another surge of exhilaration.

This was destined to be a meal they would never forget for the rest of their lives.

They continued eating and drinking. It wasn’t until seven-thirty that they finally, reluctantly, decided to call it a night.

They had been eating for two and a half hours; it was time to finish up and go home.

Lin Guodong paid the bill. The total was over seven hundred yuan.

Li You had wanted to give him a 20% discount, but in the end, he didn’t.

It wasn’t because he was stingy. He just knew Lin Guodong would never let him apply a discount.

Lin Guodong and his group said their goodbyes and left.

Duan Canghong and his friends naturally went to Lin Guodong’s house to stay the night.

...

Ling Xiaoru arrived around this time. She was staying over again tonight.

Moreover, she was treating him to dinner tonight.

Li You didn’t refuse. He and Ling Xiaoru had a habit of treating each other. He could just treat her in return tomorrow night.

Ling Xiaoru came to the kitchen doorway, poked her head in, and said, ”You didn’t ask Teacher Chu to stay over tonight?”

Li You smiled. ”I wanted to. But Teacher Chu probably wouldn’t have come. Still, it’s worth a try. It’s too late today, so forget it. Maybe I’ll ask her tomorrow?”

Ling Xiaoru snorted softly and said, ”I’m going upstairs.”

Then she turned and walked away.

Li You chuckled and continued cooking.

He was making dinner for himself and Ling Xiaoru.

The girl had ordered Longjing Shrimp, Chopped Pepper Fish Head, crucian carp with patchouli, mapo tofu, boiled cabbage in broth, and three pounds of spicy crayfish.

It seemed like a bit much.

’Oh well,’ he thought, ’Ling Xiaoru’s paying anyway. We can just take our time and eat slowly to make sure we finish everything and don’t waste any food.’

By the time he had finished cooking all the dishes, the customers had already finished their meals and left.

He could close up shop and eat.

Of course, there would be wine. Li You had a feeling that Ling Xiaoru was going to get tipsy again tonight.

And as it turned out, Ling Xiaoru did get tipsy.

Very tipsy, in fact.

Li You and Ling Xiaoru watched TV while they slowly drank.

After three bowls, Ling Xiaoru declared she could drink a little more.

The result was that after another half-bowl, Ling Xiaoru was lying motionless on the sofa.

Left with no choice, Li You had to carry Ling Xiaoru back to her room once again.

Ling Xiaoru was only very tipsy, not completely drunk.

So, Li You wasn’t worried that anything would happen to her from being too drunk.

Li You wouldn’t let Ling Xiaoru get drunk. And she knew her own limits.

...

「The next day.」

Li You got up and opened the restaurant for business.

At nine in the morning, Ling Xiaoru came downstairs. By then, of course, she was no longer tipsy at all.

After eating a bowl of Yangchun Noodles, she said goodbye and left.

Her commissions had been piling up recently, so she had to hurry back and get to work on her drawings.

...

「At three in the afternoon.」

Having finished with the lunch rush, Li You was relaxing in a rocking chair by the entrance, playing a game on his phone.

He glanced up and saw a motorized tricycle pull into the parking lot.

In the tricycle’s cargo bed was a clump of lush green plants.

The plant wasn’t tall, but it was a large shrub, and it was covered in many small white flowers.

It was a Cherokee rose.

The Cherokee rose was in its flowering season, and it would start bearing fruit in about a month.

The visitor was clearly Duan Canghong.

Li You quickly exited his game, stood up, and walked toward the parking lot.

When he got there, Duan Canghong was unloading the Fire Dragon Fruit Seedlings from the cargo bed. Seeing Li You, he smiled and said, ”Boss, you’re here. Come take a look at these seedlings. What do you think?”

Li You had already seen them. He was quite pleased at first glance.

All the seedlings were about half a meter tall and covered in buds.

They were a vibrant green and looked very healthy.

Moreover, their root systems were well-developed.

These were definitely high-quality, top-grade Fire Dragon Fruit Seedlings.

At 20 yuan each, they were a real bargain.

Li You even felt a little bad about the price.

He then said, ”Uncle Duan, these seedlings are excellent. At 20 yuan each, they’re so cheap I almost feel guilty.”

Duan Canghong smiled. ”It’s not that cheap, really. It’s about the right price. That’s all they really sell for. I’m just glad you’re satisfied with them, Boss.”

Li You nodded repeatedly. ”Satisfied? I’m very satisfied. The Dragon Fruit from these seedlings will definitely be delicious.”

Duan Canghong said, ”That’s for sure. The Dragon Fruit from these plants is really tasty. I happened to bring a few for you to try.”

As he spoke, Duan Canghong lifted another bag from the truck. It held about ten Dragon Fruits. He added, ”I just picked these today. There are both red-fleshed and white-fleshed ones.”

Then he handed the bag to Li You.

Li You took it and said, ”Uncle Duan, now you’re making me feel even more guilty!”

Duan Canghong replied, ”What’s there to feel guilty about? You’re buying my seedlings, so it’s only right that I give you a few fruits to taste.”

Li You said, ”Who gives away free fruit when selling seedlings? Uncle Duan, your Dragon Fruit business must be doing well, right?”

Duan Canghong said, ”For now, it’s doing pretty well, yes. I’m already considering expanding my planting area. But who knows if there might be some unforeseen risks in the future? It’s hard to say.”

Li You said, ”I’m sure you won’t run into any risks, Uncle Duan.”

Duan Canghong laughed. ”Well, I’ll take that as a good omen then, Boss. Thank you.”
