Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 516: Chapter 347: Become a Chess Soul (Part 2)

Lei Tianwang was bewildered. The next moment, a Breaking Sky Fist struck him. His vision blurred, and he found himself in a strange place. Beside him stood a three-meter-tall giant Mushroom Person, who grinned at him while doing calisthenics.

As for Wang Yi, having sent his companion away, he had no more worries. He turned to look at Luo Feng and said, ”Shall we do this here?”

Luo Feng’s voice was deep. ”Kid, you’re arrogant! To think you dare provoke me. I, who stand above countless Royal Courts and have slaughtered thousands. If you knew who I was, you would fear me...”

Wang Yi waved his hand, cutting Luo Feng off. ”You talk too much,” he said. ”I’m in a hurry and have no time to trade barbs with you. If you won’t make a move, then I will. Let’s settle this in my Chessboard Battlefield—a fight to the death!”

As he finished speaking, the Talent Chessboard hanging from his hip like a pendant flashed with light and activated. Wang Yi simply waved his sleeve, and the world transformed. The Chessboard Battlefield materialized.

The Chessboard Battlefield resembled an unknown void. Stars glittered in the firmament above, and the ground was like crystalline ice, etched with a grid of lines like a giant chessboard.

At that moment, Wang Yi was a colossal figure looming high above the battlefield. He stood outside the board itself, looking down upon the world below, taking in every detail with perfect clarity.

Luo Feng now stood in the center of the Chessboard Battlefield. Even at level 598, he was still unable to resist this forced duel.

Luo Feng, however, was completely unperturbed. A smile even touched his lips.

”I was wondering what you were relying on. So it’s the Talent Chessboard! You can’t possibly think this thing can save you, can you? How ridiculous! Kid, you probably don’t know this, but the previous owner of this Celestial Covering Chessboard was killed by me. I was the one who took this board and put it up for auction! You’re just a level 450 Little Lord. Let’s see what kind of pieces you have to use...”

Luo Feng’s triumphant expression froze. His eyes flew wide open.

Around the Chessboard Battlefield were spectator stands. Right now, three figures were seated in them.

Those who appeared in the stands could only be Chess Souls or Chess Soldiers. And as for those three, Luo Feng could already see their identity information. They weren’t level 450, but level 599!

”Northern Cyan War God Li Xuanjun, Cold Pool Master Zhong Wuya, Ancient Priest Jiang Wanggong! Three level 599 Chess Souls! How is this possible? How can this be?”

A grave expression finally appeared on Luo Feng’s face. He looked to the sky and roared, ”Taishang, how can your Chess Souls be level 599? Aren’t you only level 450?”

”Who told you I was only level 450?”

Wang Yi’s voice boomed down from the sky, as loud and deafening as thunder. With a thought, the Northern Cyan War God, Li Xuanjun, who was in the stands, suddenly transformed into a ray of light and flew down into the Chessboard Battlefield.

This Li Xuanjun looked at his own hands and feet, a surprised expression on his face. He too looked up to the sky and said, ”To think I would leave the River of Souls in such a manner. Lord Chess Master, I, Li Xuanjun, am willing to fight for you as repayment.”

”Then please, make your move.”

Wang Yi replied.

Although he was the master of the Celestial Covering Chessboard, he didn’t know much about the Chess Souls yet. It was his first time using the board in battle, and he was a little curious, wanting to experiment a little.

The Northern Cyan War God, however, was direct and decisive. He pulled a silver spear from the void, and a gallant white steed simultaneously appeared beneath him. The next moment, he charged toward Luo Feng.

Luo Feng, however, didn’t dare to face him head-on. He retreated, then slapped his chest, and his yellow robe immediately unfurled into a pair of golden wings. With a flash of these wings, Luo Feng flew into the sky.

Li Xuanjun’s mount could also fly, and the two figures began a chase across the sky above the Chessboard Battlefield.

Meanwhile, the other two spectators, Cold Pool Master Zhong Wuya and Ancient Priest Jiang Wanggong, had also recovered from their pleasant surprise. The two of them actually started chatting.

”Brother, were you also pulled from the River of Souls?” Zhong Wuya asked.

Jiang Wanggong nodded. ”You too? I never imagined something like a Talent Chessboard existed. The sudden system notification was quite a pleasant surprise!”

”However, we are now Chess Souls, made into chess pieces. We can’t leave this chessboard space, so we can’t be considered truly resurrected!”

”It’s still better than being stuck in the River of Souls. There was only cold solitude there, where your Will is worn away until you lose your sense of self, doomed for all eternity. At least now there’s a glimmer of hope...”

”This Chess Soul state of ours only lasts for seven days. I wonder what will happen after that. Don’t tell me we’ll be thrown back into the River of Souls.”

”As long as we’re alive, there’s a chance!”

Jiang Wanggong looked toward the sky. He had received the system notifications; he knew he was now a Chess Soul and that a Chess Master existed. ’Perhaps,’ he thought, ’I can obtain a chance at true resurrection through this Chess Master.’

Zhong Wuya was thinking the same thing.

The two fell silent for a moment, then turned to seriously watch the battle between Li Xuanjun and Luo Feng.

Luo Feng was no longer fleeing. He faced Li Xuanjun head-on in mid-air. He touched the spot between his eyebrows with his right index finger, and his robes immediately expanded, then rapidly transformed, sprouting scales.

In the span of a single breath, Luo Feng had transformed into a Golden Giant Dragon, radiating golden light. He had enormous golden wings, and he spat a fireball from his mouth that temporarily knocked Li Xuanjun back. Then he roared at the sky, ”Taishang, don’t get cocky! Level doesn’t represent combat power. So what if it’s one against three? I will not be defeated! I’ll show you the methods of a true powerhouse!”

”Save your prayers for yourself!”

Wang Yi responded. The cooldown for placing a piece had just ended, allowing him to deploy another. With a thought, Zhong Wuya, who was in the stands, immediately turned into a ray of light and, following Wang Yi’s will, landed on an intersection of the grid on the Chessboard Battlefield.

”This feeling... how many years has it been? I’m alive again! HAHAHAHA!”

Zhong Wuya burst out laughing, patting himself down and checking his condition in his excitement.

”Piece, fulfill your duty!”

Wang Yi’s voice rang out from the sky. Zhong Wuya didn’t dare to disobey and immediately took action. He pulled a Crystal Magic Staff from the void and, with a point of his hand, a white ray shot out from the staff’s tip.

The ray seemed extremely cold, causing frost to appear. It was a spell called [Ice Beam].

Luo Feng, in mid-air, didn’t dare to take the Magic attack head-on. He flapped his wings rapidly to evade the pursuing ray and roared, ”Behold my Exorcism Ceremony! Yellow Robe Warriors, to battle for me!”

Amidst his roar, Luo Feng slashed his chest with a sharp claw, tearing away a large patch of dragon scales. The scales, as if cast from gold and stained with blood, quickly fell to the ground. In the blink of an eye, they transformed into golden giants, each over twenty feet tall.

These golden giants were all clad in golden robes; they were the Yellow Robe Warriors, and their level was a staggering 498!

In the stands, Jiang Wanggong saw the Yellow Robe Warriors, then looked up at Luo Feng in mid-air and exclaimed in shock, ”He’s actually an Evil God!”

”What is an Evil God?”

Wang Yi’s voice sounded, audible only to Jiang Wanggong. This was one of the Chess Master’s abilities: to converse privately with a single piece.

Jiang Wanggong wasn’t surprised by this. He looked to the sky, cupped his hands in respect, and said, ”In response to the Chess Master, what is called an Evil God is more accurately termed a divine being. They possess strange, incomprehensible abilities. High-level divine beings are usually very difficult to deal with!”

”Difficult to deal with? How difficult? The three of you against him alone, there shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

”Replying to Lord Chess Master, I do not know the strength of my two companions. The outcome is difficult to predict!”

”What about your own strength?”

”My strength... I’m reluctant to admit it, but I cannot hide the truth. I am not skilled in combat. In terms of combat power, I was only considered lower-middle tier among Players of the same level. If I had been stronger back then, I wouldn’t have been killed by my enemies and ended up languishing in the River of Souls.”

”Alright. Just do your best. Get in there!”

As Wang Yi’s voice arrived, Jiang Wanggong’s body also transformed into a ray of light and flew into the Chessboard Battlefield.

With that, Wang Yi had used all three of his pieces.

Upon entering the field, Jiang Wanggong immediately joined the battle, helping Zhong Wuya fight off the Yellow Robe Warriors.

Luo Feng, however, once again shouted to the sky, ”Taishang, you only have these three pieces! Once I’ve slaughtered them all, I’m coming for you. Don’t worry, I won’t keep you waiting long!”

Wang Yi’s voice drifted down from the sky: ”I think you’d be better off quietly becoming one of my Chess Souls!”
