Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 473: Chapter 326: The Merciless Flames of War, Tuo Hai City

Towers that seemed forged from crystal soared into the clouds, each one a masterpiece of design—both exquisite and magnificent.

Roads like ribbons of colored glass wound through the city, ascending into the sky and plunging into the sea.

All manner of flying vehicles zipped across the sky: shuttles, airships, hoverboards...

The city’s buildings were adorned with countless illuminated billboards, their neon lights dazzling even in broad daylight. A flock of white doves took flight as if startled, soaring between the skyscrapers.

Below was the ocean!

This was a city on the sea. Its name: Tuohai!

It was one of the Waga Royal Court’s most vital economic hubs.

The Waga Royal Court occupied an entire planet with a diameter of over one hundred thousand kilometers and a population of more than thirty billion. After more than a millennium of development, it had become a technologically advanced and prosperous world.

This world had armies, corporations, and research institutes. It had also given rise to powerful clans and a royal family. Its overall structure resembled that of a vast empire, but power was not centralized; various vassals controlled local governments.

Tuo Hai City was the fiefdom of the Marquis of Tuo Sea.

The Marquis of Tuo Sea was a powerful viceroy within the Waga Royal Court. His family was immensely influential and connected to the royal family by marriage. He himself was also an Adventurer Player.

Under his administration, Tuo Hai City was economically prosperous, with a population of over ten million. The headquarters of many large corporations and even the central bank were located here. The city was a hub for business elites and home to a great number of nobles.

Of course, the majority of Tuo Hai City’s population was composed of ordinary people, toiling day in and day out just to get by, living tense and hurried lives.

Suddenly, beyond the bustling metropolis, a deafening BOOM like a crack of thunder echoed across the surface of the sea. A pitch-black Void Rift appeared, expanding rapidly.

Space vibrated, and the sea churned.

Within Tuo Hai City, air-raid sirens immediately began to wail.

But many citizens had no idea what was happening. Most ordinary people just kept their heads down and continued their work—tightening screws, delivering takeout, hauling cargo, operating machinery...

All they cared about was their income and how to make their lives a little better. They had no energy to spare for anything else.

A few nobles and wealthy individuals in high-end clubs, upscale restaurants, and various entertainment venues faintly registered the sirens, but paid them no mind.

In their minds, no matter what happened, the city guard would handle it. The world was at peace, and their lives were secure.

The very concept of war was foreign to them.

Over ninety-nine percent of the city’s residents had no idea what a Void invasion even was.

And the appearance of the Void Rift signified just that—a Void invasion, and the beginning of a National War!

Wang Yi was the first to fly out of the Void Rift.

He was all alone. Gazing at the metropolis before him, which looked as if it were built from crystal and glass, he remarked with a sigh, ”The Waga Royal Court has no World Line, so we broke straight through to the surface? What a city. It feels so futuristic. It couldn’t have been easy to build... but destroying it won’t be hard at all!”

Wang Yi let out a sigh.

’The war has already begun. The Waga Royal Court’s fleet is bombarding my territory’s World Line as we speak. My home is under extreme threat, and I haven’t come here for a tour.’

’I initiated this National War to bring the fight to them.’

’And this will be a war to the death, one that will only end when this Royal Court World is destroyed.’

’So, I must be fast. I must be ruthless. I must fight until the ones with Authority in the Waga Royal Court are forced to show themselves. I have to tear a path straight into the heart of their Royal Court. All I need to do is destroy everything in my way!’

As for tactical arrangements, Wang Yi glanced back at the Void Rift. He knew it was a two-way passage, a bridge across the World Line that connected back to his own territory.

’Therefore, the Void Rift must be defended. I can’t let the Waga Royal Court use it to launch a counter-offensive.’

’This National War probably won’t end quickly. In that case, I’ll start by capturing this city and using it as a temporary base. Then I can plan my next move.’

Wang Yi made his decision instantly. As the Lord, he now had to act as the vanguard. He would capture a temporary base where he could gather intelligence, organize his forces, and formulate a battle plan, all while protecting the Void Rift.

After a moment of rapid thought, Wang Yi shouted into the empty air before him, ”I am the Lord of the Strongest Royal Court! I hereby declare the National War has begun! Defenders of this city, come forth and meet your doom!”

With those words, Wang Yi brandished the Great Wind and Cloud Banner. His figure flickered, and nine incarnations of the Monkey King flew from his body. Clouds and wind converged in the sky as Ten Thousand Celestial Soldiers appeared in dense formation. The Four Heavenly Kings manifested, and the stirring music of the Cloud Palace filled the air.

In an instant, the very sky and earth seemed to change. Wang Yi had become an army of one, his might bearing down upon Tuo Hai City.

Tuo Hai City had its own defensive forces, but they were a city guard, not a formal army. Still, the guards reacted swiftly. A large number of flight-capable cars, cruisers, and airships immediately converged on Wang Yi’s position.

”What’s happening?!”

”What is that up ahead? A mirage?”

”Soldiers in Golden Armor standing on the clouds? Is this an alien invasion?”

”Who was that shouting just now? The Lord of the Strongest Royal Court?”

”All units, cease chatter! Orders from command: we have an external invasion! All personnel, arm yourselves! Engage at will and eliminate the invading enemy!”

”A real invasion?”

”Then what are we waiting for? Do they think the city guard is a bunch of pushovers? Light ’em up!”

”The Royal Court fleet is en route! Until they arrive, we have to hold the line! Don’t let them enter the city!”

”Kill!”

Many of the guards surged forward brazenly, eager looks on their faces. It wasn’t bravery that drove them, but a deep-seated arrogance born from long-held authority.
