Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest

After Elayne’s request, Shade agreed to explain the functions of every Cursed Rune once more to refresh her memory.

”The Rune of Decay amplifies your decaying power and strengthens your presence.

The Rune of Ghosts enhances your soul’s ghostly essence, allowing you to project it beyond your Corpse Body.

The Rune of Agony grows stronger as you suffer and grants greater resistance to Dark Magic.

The Rune of Pain is similar, yet it builds permanent strength over time through prolonged suffering.

The Rune of Resentment increases your magical power based on your resentment and boosts your potential for Curse Magic.

The Rune of Madness drives you into a berserk state and grants momentary bursts of power.

The Rune of Bones strengthens your bones, if you still have any.

The Rune of Rot improves your ability to regenerate rotten flesh.

The Rune of Flesh makes your flesh tougher, if you have any.

Lastly, the Rune of Nether enhances your ability to gather and manipulate Nether.

So far, you possess the Cursed Runes of Nether, Ghosts, Pain, and Flesh. Which one do you wish to obtain now, Master?”

”I was wondering if they can overlap, like acquiring more than one?” Elayne asked.

”Ah yes, that is how they evolve into higher ranks,” Shade explained. ”I’m sorry, but there isn’t really any other way.”

”I’ll go for the Rune of Bones,” Elayne decided. ”It’s one I was planning to get anyway.”

”Very well... Master...” Shade nodded. His needle began glowing with dark cursed energy.

The process was painful, but the moment Shade finished, Elayne immediately felt the changes. Her bones had become significantly tougher without growing heavier. She felt more flexible and noticeably stronger in her stance.

”This is nice...!”

Ding!

”Phew! Well, this is relieving,” Elayne sighed in relief. ”Thank you for your help, Shade.”

”It’s nothing...” Shade muttered. ”Ah... Gardenia said the Spirit Nether Forge is ready...”

”Oh right, I haven’t met her yet. Let’s go see her!” Elayne said.

”I’m busy right now,” Shade replied. ”Sorry.”

”Ah, that’s totally alright. Take care,” Elayne said as she left the house and headed toward a large building in the eastern part of her domain.

Inside the expansive structure, ghostly and spirit flames surged endlessly. A single dedicated spirit was handling the entire operation herself, supported by a couple dozen skeleton laborers who were helping in exchange for private Spirit Art lessons later.

”Gardenia! Hey!”

”Ah! You’re finally out of that cave, huh?” Gardenia emerged from the building. ”You look weird as hell too! What the hell happened to you?”

”Ah, I evolved twice,” Elayne replied. ”I became a Sword Revenant and then an Abyssal Myconid! Cool, right?”

”Eeeeh?! And you didn’t even ask me?! What if you had turned into a demon?” Gardenia asked in disbelief.

”Oh my gosh, calm down. None of those things are going to happen,” Elayne sighed. ”As an Undead, I just have to keep leveling and evolving. That’s how it works. It will happen again and again. That’s simply how life is in the Netherworld. If I want to return to how things were before, I just have to make some sacrifices.”

”Uh, okay Elayne, sure,” Gardenia sighed. ”You’ve changed a lot... but whatever. Come on inside.”

Gardenia invited Elayne into the forge. The two of them stepped into the heart of the majestic flames. The forge had been intricately built and infused with many new runes and spiritual magic circles.

”This forge is specifically made to create Spirit Weapons, upgrade them, and refine Soul Treasures!” Gardenia explained proudly. ”You add the materials into the chimney, burn their essence, and imbue it into the items as you hammer them, just like in the old days. Remember, Heir of Hephaestus?”

”I know,” Elayne nodded with confidence. ”It sounds fun. I actually have some things I want to upgrade, so this is perfect...”

Elayne opened her status window after a long time and carefully reviewed what she wanted to improve.

She nodded to herself as she read through all the information. A quiet sense of pride swelled within her chest. She had started with nothing in this world, yet she had already achieved so much. She had regained a great deal of her former power and forged an entirely new kind of strength, different from anything she had possessed before.
