Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest

“What drives humanity’s destruction? What drives humanity’s wars? What drives humanity’s conflicts? What else but me? Conquest—it all ends with me. My three siblings have always known it,” Avenger spoke. His German accent gave way to a solemn voice that carried eternal magnificence. “I ride my white horse as the embodiment of humanity’s purest form. I am the White Rider. You—a forgotten man whose spirit survives only through fiction and entertainment, whose power stems from admiration rather than deeds—tell me… what can you possibly offer me?”

Before the King of Conquest, Assassin felt as frail as a child. His knees trembled, his grip on the blade weakened, and he stood seconds from dropping it as he watched a red halo form above Conquest, a crimson crown forged from death and destruction.

In that moment, Assassin—no, Yasuke—fell silent. He gazed at his sword amid the blood and flames surrounding him. Powerless, yet at the same time… he knew this could not be the end.

He had miraculously answered the call of a young vampire girl and reached the modern age. He had discovered that Japan had truly prospered after centuries of war.

That a beautiful future now existed, where the descendants of all his friends lived happily—only to learn that great darkness still lurked behind every shadow.

The very fact that he had been summoned proved history remembered him. He, who had always believed himself a nobody, a forgotten slave forced against his will to fight in a war in a land not his own, only to die bitterly, never able to return home.

“The truth is that I never truly fought in any war.”

“…?”

“I fought for my master… but every victory came because I was taller and stronger, not because I possessed any real technique.

I was no warrior, no hero. The people of today remember me for someone I never was.

I died bitterly, convinced my life had been worthless and meaningless, wishing with my final breath to one day reunite with my family.”

Yasuke removed his broken mask, revealing his face.

“But this strength, this sword, this armor… and everything within me was built by what humanity believed I was. And honestly… I don’t want to disappoint them. I want to become what humanity believes I was.”

“I see now,” Avenger said. “You are merely a victim of war. How pitiful. But I adore victims of war—they make the greatest warriors. Come to me, Yasuke. Join me. Through my power, you can live eternally as a Vengeful Spirit. Together we shall conquer the world and make all those who wronged you pay.”

“They’re all long dead,” Yasuke said, shaking his head. “Despite everything, I hold no grudges.” A warm smile crossed his face.

He gripped his katana tightly with both large hands, staring at the towering giant before him, a foe he could never truly defeat.

Yet for his master and her friends, for the innocent lives he wished to protect, even if it clashed with his nature as an Assassin-class heroic spirit, he would hold this monster back for as long as he could.

“I may be a nobody throughout history, elevated only by people’s mistaken beliefs!” Yasuke roared. Purple thunder gleamed in his eyes. “But that doesn’t mean I cannot stop you—even if I must stake my life, my second chance, with everything I have. Because… even the smallest soul can shine brilliantly in its final moments.”

“Hoh.”

Avenger rubbed his chin. His blazing beard flickered as his eyes burned brighter, his thick, fiery eyebrows furrowing.

“Good. Very good! EXCELLENT!”

His divine white horse reared and cried out as it galloped toward Yasuke, shaking the earth beneath them.

“THAT IS A WARRIOR’S HEART! GAHAHAHAHAHA!”

The White Rider laughed as he swung his colossal spear—thick as a temple pillar—toward Yasuke.

The samurai knew a single strike from that weapon would almost certainly kill him.

He would have to rely on his Assassin parameters to evade damage and strike the demon-like heroic spirit with his thunderous katana as many times as possible.

And he had his trump card ready.

His Legendary Treasure, a power he never possessed in life, granted by the Throne of Heroes to elevate him beyond his original history through the legends modern humanity had woven around him.

“Oni Raijin Kengen – Manifestation of the Black Thunder Demon.”

BOOOM!

In an instant, as the Lance of Conquest descended, Yasuke erupted into a towering pillar of purple thunder that pierced the sky.

Lightning rained down, obliterating hundreds, then thousands of foes in a single moment. His entire body transformed.

The spiritual oni-like entity within his aura fused into him. His skin became covered in gold and purple tattoos, hardening like metallic armor. His form shifted into that of a true demon.

“There was one name they called me back then… because of my appearance, because of the ruthlessness of my fists… they called me a demon. And that name carried forward into what I have become now.”

“…”

Avenger sneered as he looked up at the thundering demon. His white horse began galloping across the burning skies.

“Good! Then come and fight me, so-called demon.”

His spear struck toward Yasuke, only for Yasuke to vanish, transforming into living thunder and reappearing behind the White Rider. His katana slashed across the giant’s back.

BOOOM!

A massive explosion of thunder hurled the White Rider downward, crashing into the ground and leaving enormous craters across the domain.

Yet he rose again. His White Horse manifested from his power once more, and he mounted it.

“Good—show me more!”

“I shall.”

Yasuke closed his eyes, focusing entirely on his power. Thunder erupted from his entire body, and then he became thunder itself.

CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!

They finally clashed in earnest. Yasuke transformed into lightning again and again, vanishing and reappearing. Avenger pursued, swinging bare-handed, flames and demonic spirits manifesting to consume the thunder, only for Yasuke to strike from behind once more, his katana carving through the giant’s back.

The pattern repeated endlessly. Their battle shook the battlefield and reshaped it. Mountains rose from the force of their strikes and shattered into fragments. Seas of magma surged from the heat of their impacts, burning the ground until the very floor of the domain lay exposed.

“HAHAHAA! SHOW ME! ASSASSIN!!! SHOW ME THE MIGHT OF MAN! FOR I AM THEIR JUDGEMENT!!!”

Avenger laughed wildly, swinging his giant spear. Yasuke clenched his teeth, thundering through every attack and slashing the giant’s body again and again, inflicting countless wounds until Avenger bled profusely without end.

“EHEH… HAHAHA!”

The White Rider laughed like a madman, carrying within him the legacy of every tyrant, warlord, and evil humanity had ever produced. His blood transformed into massive swords that flew toward Yasuke.

“TERYAAAAA!”

With a mighty samurai roar, Yasuke swung his katana, cutting through every demonic blade. The debris exploded behind him. He took one step forward, appearing behind the White Rider once more, aiming straight for his neck.

“UUAAAHH!”

With an African warrior’s roar, he poured every ounce of strength into that single strike. His katana struck the White Rider’s neck and sliced through thick muscle all the way to the spine.

SLAAAASH!
