Chapter 982: Chapter 1066: Encountering a Living Human

”Are you human or ghost?”

Chen Nan shouted loudly. Although his cultivation was not weak, at this moment he felt his heart shiver a little.

In this eerie, ghostly place, seeing a ”person” wrapped in a shroud, it was impossible for anyone to remain calm. Chen Nan even suspected that the shadow might not be human at all, because who would willingly wear a shroud?

But if it’s not a person, then what is this thing? A corpse?

”Awoooo...”

As Chen Nan was pondering, the shadow let out a howl and leapt toward him from the side.

This time, Chen Nan finally saw its true face!

It was a face with flesh and blood blurred, no, more accurately, it was a mass of rotten flesh, as there was no sign of blood on its face, only decayed skin and flesh. This was a corpse that had been dead for a long time.

Even from a distance, Chen Nan could smell its incredibly pungent stench of decay.

Its mouth was agape like a blood-red basin, with yellowish teeth smeared with slime, looking extremely disgusting. On either side of its mouth, two three-inch long tusks protruded, appearing ferociously menacing.

Faced with such a monster, Chen Nan felt it dirty to even touch it.

A flick of his fingers, and the Chaos Sword Wave burst forth, then both hands thrust out, launching the Buddha Hand Seal from both sides to prevent the monster from escaping.

The monster roared, spewing endless death energy from its mouth, blocking Chen Nan’s Chaos Sword Wave, but the Buddha Hand Seal coming from both sides struck it solidly.

”Roar!”

The monster howled to the sky, seemingly unaffected by the Buddha Hand Seal.

Its fingernails, sharp like swords, swept through the air as it lunged at Chen Nan again.

Chen Nan raised his hand, the Crack Blue Light Palm formed in the air, grabbed forward, clasping tightly onto the monster’s waist, and then the Residual Stele Illusion appeared in the air, crashing down on the monster’s head.

”Buzz buzz...”

The void trembled, like the sound of rolling thunder echoing through the sky.

The monster’s claws reached toward the sky, blocking the suppression of the stele, roaring continuously, trying to tear the stele apart, but the stele’s hardness was unimaginable, not easily shattered by mere attacks.

Seizing the moment the stele pressed down, Chen Nan picked up a tree branch, drew the Heavenly Attraction Bow, and shot an arrow explosively.

”Pfft...”

A stream of dark corpse blood spattered through the air.

The monster’s forehead was shot through by Chen Nan’s arrow, leaving a fist-sized hole, and a foul stench permeated, making one feel incredibly nauseated just by smelling it.

The corpse fell to the ground, and the monster finally quieted down.

Chen Nan had fought with corpses before, but those were War Corpses controlled by Corpse Controllers. However, this corpse in front of him needed no human control, it was inherently aggressive, almost as if it had developed spiritual wisdom.

Chen Nan walked up and looked closely, confirming that it was indeed a corpse dead for years.

In life, it must have been a strong person; even after so many years of death, the body hadn’t entirely decomposed and still retained some flesh and skin.

Why this corpse attacked him, Chen Nan could not comprehend. Yet, in this Ghost Realm, where the deathly qi was as thick as hell itself, any bizarre occurrences were no surprise.

In the journey that followed, Chen Nan encountered no more attacks or such corpse monsters.

It wasn’t until he walked about ten kilometers further that he furrowed his brows again.

Because footprints appeared on the ground.

More accurately, these weren’t ordinary human footprints because, although they resembled human feet, each was two to three meters long, extraordinarily large in size.

Moreover, it was clear from the marks on the ground that these footprints were left by bare feet; every footprint clearly showed the imprint of five toes, which would be impossible if shoes were worn.

Chen Nan followed these giant footprints forward.

He was curious about what creature left these footprints, and this path was also his only way through the Ghost Realm.

As he was currently in the southern part of Aluo Mountain, and according to the map, this was the only route through the entire Aluo Mountain leading to the Ghost Realm.

Although he could fly, flying made him an easy target for attacks from ferocious creatures around, like the previous crows and the undead corpse monster.

”Roar...”

A loud roar came from the front.

Chen Nan could guess that it must be the giant creature that left the footprints roaring.

”That creature is so large, it must be powerful. It’s better for me to avoid it later,” Chen Nan muttered to himself, hastening his pace forward.

After walking about another two hundred meters, he stopped in his tracks.

On the ground, he found human footprints, not giant ones, but regular human footprints.

Chen Nan bent down to look closely; these footprints were quite fresh, likely just made not long ago. Judging by their size, they should belong to a woman.

How would a woman end up in such a foreboding place?

Chen Nan scratched his head, quickened his pace, and moved forward.

Before long, he heard the sounds of a battle coming from ahead. Besides the roar of the giant creature, there was also the cry of a woman, which confirmed Chen Nan’s suspicion that the footprints indeed belonged to a woman.

Encountering a fellow human in this desolate mountain gave Chen Nan a sense of meeting an old friend in a foreign place.

He quickened his steps and moved swiftly toward the direction of the combat sounds.

After walking about half a kilometer, Chen Nan, peering through the gaps in the branches, saw the scene about a hundred meters away.

A woman was flying in the air, engaged in fierce battle with a giant twenty meters tall.

Despite its massive size, the giant looked otherwise similar to ordinary humans, like an enlarged human, with only its lower body covered in animal skins. Its skin was extremely rough, resembling an elephant’s skin, and its body was so filthy that a stench could be smelled even from afar.

An ancient giant!

Chen Nan had read about this species in ancient texts.

Ancient giants were beings from ancient times. Although they didn’t understand cultivation and were quite foolish, they were immensely strong and very difficult to deal with. Yet according to ancient records, this race had already disappeared into the river of history long ago.

Chen Nan did not expect to encounter a living ancient giant here.

As for the woman, her face was veiled, and being a magician, she was flying in the air continually performing magic to duel with the giant, focusing more on defense than offense, clearly at a disadvantage.

Chen Nan frowned, a look of surprise on his face.

Seeing a magician in the West was not uncommon, but what surprised him was that this female magician before him was an Eastern person.

Even though she had her face covered, her black eyes and black hair clearly marked her as a person of the yellow race.
