Reborn : Space Intelligent Woman

The forensics team immediately set up several high-powered industrial floodlights, cutting through the shadows before beginning a detailed and meticulous investigation of the underground chamber. Preliminary structural findings by the department’s engineers suggested that the hidden room had already existed for approximately fifteen years. The entire chamber had been specially constructed using heavy, military-grade soundproofing materials along with thick smell insulation that completely sealed the subterranean vault from the outside world.

Clearly, the original owner had gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure that nobody would ever discover the terrifying secret hidden deep beneath the earth.

The forensic team also discovered that the coffin had been meticulously modified with copper coils, intricate electrical wiring, and an advanced cooling system to function as a freezing preservation chamber. After conducting a further technical examination of the digital control panel, they found that the system’s last recorded internal temperature had been maintained at an extremely low negative fifty degrees Celsius.

This meant the decomposition process had essentially been frozen in time, making it exceptionally difficult for the medical examiners to accurately determine the corpse’s true time of death. Furthermore, because the flesh had already become severely distorted, discoloured, and damaged by the sudden thawing process, they still needed to rely heavily on dental records and DNA testing to identify the dead woman properly.

After the forensic investigation team completely took over the secured crime scene, Officer Huang Ning left the abandoned house together with Lou Weizhe and returned to the police station once again to complete the necessary paperwork and formalise the discovery.

Once more, Lou Weizhe was invited into a private, sterile, and windowless questioning room.

However, this time, Officer Huang Ning needed to ask more detailed and formal questions regarding Lou Weizhe’s exact reasons for visiting the abandoned property in the first place. She was accompanied by her strict superior officer, Officer Lin Quan, a veteran detective well known throughout the force for his sharp instincts and keen, unrelenting intuition.

The two officers questioned Lou Weizhe together across the cold metal table while carefully observing every tiny change in his micro-expression, eye movement, and body language.

Throughout the entire grueling questioning session, Lou Weizhe remained remarkably calm, polite, and composed, without showing even the slightest trace of nervousness or deception.

”I simply wanted to see the place where my sister had been kept after disappearing for three long years.” Lou Weizhe explained calmly, his voice remaining steady, measured, and perfectly convincing. ”At the same time, I also wanted to see whether the police might have overlooked any additional clues regarding her kidnapper’s background. Honestly speaking, I never expected that the moment I entered the house, I would immediately detect such a horrible odour coming from beneath the floorboards.”

”Then how exactly did you locate the hidden mechanism for the secret room when even our professionally trained search dogs completely failed to notice any scent?” Officer Lin Quan asked sharply while leaning forward slightly, his narrowed, piercing eyes fixed firmly on Lou Weizhe.

”I can see things that ordinary human beings cannot see.” Lou Weizhe answered calmly while meeting the veteran detective’s gaze directly, without changing his expression in the slightest.

The intense questioning session finally ended shortly afterwards, since the police did not have any legal grounds to detain a cooperative, high-profile informant any longer.

Officer Lin Quan slowly stood up before informing Lou Weizhe that if they required any additional information or clarifications later during the investigation and autopsy process, they would contact him again for further questioning.

Lou Weizhe simply stood up as well, gave a polite nod, and calmly replied, ”If I am legally permitted to answer your questions, then I will naturally cooperate fully with the police.”

After leaving the police station, Lou Weizhe returned directly to the Saisei Ryokan Hotel, where Yu Qi and Long Hui had already been waiting for him in the private lounge.

”How did it go?” Yu Qi immediately asked the moment she saw him walk through the door.

”I already informed the police officers about the corpse. They have also gone to the location and started their full forensic investigation.” Lou Weizhe stated calmly, sinking into a chair.

”So, did they question you?” Yu Qi asked further, wanting to ensure their cover story held up.

”Yeah. They did question me quite thoroughly, especially the veteran detective. But I answered everything exactly the way you told me to.” Lou Weizhe replied honestly.

After hearing that, Yu Qi nodded in satisfaction before telling him that he could either return to his room and rest properly or head over to enjoy the hotel’s famous natural hot springs to wash off the grime of the day. She also informed him that she would ask the hotel staff to prepare a private dinner for him afterwards.

...

The next day, the three of them left Shiwa Town together in high spirits and headed toward FINN City. Their plan was to take a direct flight to Guanying City from FINN City Airport. If they took the direct route, the flight would only require approximately three hours.

While they were traveling toward FINN City in the car, Lou Weizhe checked the available commercial tickets online using his phone. Unfortunately, all flights heading toward Guanying City that day had already been fully booked due to the peak travel season, leaving no available seats at all.

He immediately turned around and informed Yu Qi about the logistical situation.

”Oh... There is no need to buy any commercial tickets. We are going there using a private jet.” Yu Qi stated casually, as if she were talking about taking a taxi.

”I... see... Okay... Alright...” Lou Weizhe became momentarily speechless, his jaw dropping slightly.
